Byebye Big Bum!

jjjay, you are SO gonna make it!!! I'm going to do a little victory dance for you when you do! lol Thank god you wont be able to actually see it LOL! We're all rootin for ya!! :)

Hope everything goes well with the budget! :)

heheh thanks guys.
To be honest, in my profession, whichever way the budget goes - people will always need advice and have issues!! However, as an individual, I really hope they don't cut public spending too much and cause a lot of people to be made redundent in the public sector. Its going to be a tough one I think!

At the moment, I'd settle for being back down to 189!! LOL! I was 194 on the 11th of May so I feel its step backwards to be going up to 192-194. Oh well a friend of mine told me yesterday that she literally puts on half a stone each month when its that time...I'm going to do some research about whether there's any supplements/particular foods that I can eat to try and lessen the hormonal swing - its like 10 days of hell - not from a personality point of view, just I get really spotty, bloated, heavy etc...Sorry, I probably sound like a broken record for the last week but I'm fed up of it.

On the up side, I spent some time admiring myself in the mirror after my shower this morning (hahahha that sounds SO vain, but anyone who has been really fat and avoided mirrors when semi-clothed or naked, and then lost weight, will understand - you get all "oooh, if I stretch that way then I look pretty good!"!!) LOL.Its been SO long since I actually thought I looked ok without clothes on.

I'm back on a - try to have no chocolate/crisps/junk food at all for the next 2 weeks as the whole "in moderation" thing was leading to a few too many cravings for my liking and I want to ramp up to some serious poundage per week!! (Not too many...just like 2-3lbs)

You can do it, jjay. All of us are rooting for you. And 5miles is no joke! I have been out of running and miss it. Haven't run for about two weeks coz i was travelling...but gonna start again tomorrow. I miss it.

Have a good week.

I used to suffer badly every month both with bad period pain and bloating. The menopause does have some advantages!!!
I've also started to look in the mirror a bit more. I put my hands above my head and pretend that my boobs really are right up high and not sagging towards my waistline :)
My skin is awful though which makes me annoyed with myself as if I had lost the weight years ago while my skin was still supple I would have been much better. Oh well I'll still be able to look ok dressed.

This made me laugh out loud!...well after having a daughter I do something similar and think back to the pert days of my 20s!!! And I'm only in my early 30s so what will it be like in 10 years time....I dread to think!!

Just got back from a 5km run - in the scorching heat! I did it in 44.5mins which is 2.5mins faster than before so pleased with that - I really did push in the last 5 mins and darn near sprinted up the hill to my house...if only to get it over and done with asap!

Food today:
Toasted bagel - 220 cals
1 pear - 50 cals
1 apple - 50 cals
2 fingers of kit kat - 115 cals
30 cals of salad, 132 cals of prawns, 30 cals of artichoke, 50 cals of low fat coleslaw = 242 cals
25g of banana chips - 135 cals
3 cups of tea - 30 cals
Low cal/low fat beef and mash meal - 318 cals
55 cal slice of brown bread and 30 cals of low fat coleslaw - 85 cals

Total - 1245

Hmm what else? Email exchanges with a certain Mr X means we have a date set for lunch - 2nd week of July so I only have under 3 weeks to decide what to wear - ONOZ! - how am I going to decide in such a short amount of time!! hehehe. From his email, I think like me, he has left the afternoon free so he won't be pushed for time to get back for anythign in particular - so we should have a good chat over some great food :) My aim for end of this month - to be under 189lbs, and then to be 185lbs by the 2nd week of July. This would make me 10lbs lighter AND more toned than when we last met.

This will definitely spur me on with the running!! I'm now up to 5km 2-3 times a week with a longer run at the weekend.

I had to pin my waistband of my trousers tighter this morning when I arrived at work because they were too baggy and kept on falling down onto my hips like a pair of low slung hipsters! LOL! I can't wait until the Next sale starts in mid-July - going to stock up on the next size down! Until then I'm putting stuff in hot washes and tumble drying clothes that say do not tumble dry to make em shrink a bit!!!

This is my "turn around" day of the month - where I start feeling better and lighter and the spots hopefully clear up.. I think the running is also flushing a load of toxins out of my skin - just through all the sweating...I know its probably a good thing in the long run but its rotten to be going through right now!

Oh, the other thing I wanted to say to all the newbie members of the Officially Runny Club...is...I was in Sports Direct the other (a discount sports store here in the UK) and just on a whim I picked up some Karrimor running socks - they weren't that expensive, around £4 for 2 pairs but have padded heels and balls of the foot, and a tab aroudn the ankle so they don't sink into your trainer as you run...and the rest of the sock is kind of breathable - and oh my goodness, they make a difference. The combination of running in these and my proper running shoes is heavenly!! I would thoroughly recommend investing (not very much money!) in a pair or two. I'm sure a lot of other brands are similar - but specialised running socks rock!!

I'm going through the same thing as we speak so you do not sound like a broken record. Men are so lucky to not have to deal with the havoc this wreaks, for sure. And if you find anything that helps pls let me know. I always know when mine is coming because I wake up hurting really bad, especially in my back. This doesn't happen for me at lower weights as much. But the mood swings...I get a bit crabby before now but a day or so after I'm downright pissy and not sure why its AFTER. I have PCOS so being at the mercy of my hormones is a pain, but it's so much worse around TOM. I'm just hoping that once my body is in balance, weight down and I'm healthier all this subsides.

Anyway thanks for all your support :) And you are doing amazing. Just make sure you keep eating enough :seeya: ~Lisa

You are amazing with your running. At 20 years older than you I don't know if I will get to that stage but I'll have a bloody good go at it.
Isn't it great when your trousers start to fall down!! I can't keep any of my pyjamas up any more.
Thanks for the tip on the socks. I've just found some on ebay. I looovvveee ebay as I can get so many things on there that I can't get here. I'll pick some up for my husband as well as he developed a blister on the bottom of his feet after yesterday's run.

douknowjello = sorry to hear that you suffer at that TOM too - it is rotten and I don't think I have it as bad as you from the sounds of things. I actually get very little pain nowdays (and others might disagree....) and don't seem to get as peed off as I used to mood wise. I jsut find that I feel down on myself and fat and spotty and puffy - for like the whole 7-10 days beforehand. As soon as it starts, then I feel much much better and more ALIVE and on the way up.

Val - I think you are doing incredably for someone 20 years older than me and a real inspiration. As for running - people do get into it in their 50s and go on to be super runny! Given the kind of mileage you and your husband are walking, I can't see why not!

190.6lbs on the scale this morning - phew...getting back to normal...I'm hoping to drop back to 189 and then down down down for the end of the month. I know my calories count is hovering around 1200 - 1400 per day, but given the couple of bad days I'll have at the weekend when I'm more like 1800 and that I probably don't always know how many calories are in things when we go out for lunch at work - I think I am actually probably eating enough - probably an average of 1500 or so a day. I certainly don't feel starving or like I'm depriving myself - just eating more sensibly.

I started a new skin care regime this week too - strict - cleanse last thing at night then a dermalogical overnight clearing gel, facewash in the morning, moisturiser. I'm gonig to stick to it rigidly for the next month and see if it makes a difference. Other people aren't this spotty at my age - and it literally flares up for one week a month...I could time it to the day!

Anyhows...off to work! Post budget excitement...promotions being rolled out today or tomorrow (the wait is nearly over!!)...we've all been given the afternoon off to watch the England football match (company even laying on free drinks!!! W00t!! Although I'm driving so won't be drinking LOL). Have a good day!!!

One of my neices dabs on witch hazel when her spots flare up and says that is the only thing that calms them and dries them out quickly so worth a try if you haven't already tried it.

Hehehe

Thanks for the lovin's Sunflower!!

Well, England won...phew...and I got promoted...w00t!! The last two years have been a LONG haul towards this point and I can't wait for the payrise!

Food today:

Breakfast - bacon roll - 350 cals
dried pineapple - 250 cals
fresh strawberries - 100 cals
8oz steak and plain salad - 350 cals
2 cups of tea - 20 cals
some crisps and nibbles at the football match - 200 cals
Dinner - low fat low cal meal - 303 cals
3 pieces of liquorice - 60 cals

Total - 1633

Not bad...very nearly had burger and fries for lunch to celebrate but then thought to myself - why get back into the cycle of rewarding myself with food?

Another couple of days and weight loss should be back on track too!

Yay England!! Going to be quite a match when they play Italy for the finals! (Hoping big time here! lol)

Congratulations on the promotion! If work as hard as you do here, it was well deserved!

Keep it up you!

Congratulations on the promotion. Yayaya!! And yay also for England winning!! :) Looks like you are having a fab week. Two more days till the weekend.

Thanks for all the congrats guys!!! :D I'm well chuffed but everyone keeps wanting to go out to lunch to celebrate with me - I have like 4 different lunch invitations and 2 for dinner, so its SO difficult to keep on the straight and narrow LOL!!! Managed just a 8oz steak and plain salad yesterday when I snuck out for lunch with my closest work friend which I don't think was too bad...Its all announced publically on Monday in the company so there will be a fair few cakes lurking around the office too from the various people at various grades who got promoted...temptation temptation!!

Back down to 189lbs today W000H000...or rather...PHEW!! I'm not going mad afterall!! We'll see how much that drops by in the next couple of days...I feel a WHOOSH coming on! I still am nowhere near these people who are losing like 3-4lbs a week though - averaging like 5lbs a month here - I wonder if its just getting tougher the lower I get or if I'm just not doing the same amount of exercise that they are? I might try and do 20 mins on the spinning bike each day as well as my every-other-day-5k...heheh GREAT SATISFACTION out of saying that!

I'm not going to have time to run today or tomorrow as out to dinner both nights (a business event on friday afternoon followed by dinner and drinking so...going to do my best to keep cals down!) and travelling early in the morning, then at the weekend I am sailing both sat and sun...so I'm assuming I'll be very tired by the time I get home - at least that is exercise but I'll miss my two runs!!! I am looking forward to sailign though - I used to do a lot when I was young (like 10-14) but haven't done much since.

Not much else to report! This new skincare regime seems to be working thankfully although crunch time will be mid next month to see if I get spotty again.

Thanks Tigpuppy - the promotion thing is beginning to sink in now I've had time to try and work out the cash in pocket effect of a 25% payrise!!! W00T!! The days of being poor are gawn!

Flumes - looks like you were kinda wrong about Italy!! Sorry mate!! On the bright side, you get to laugh at how easily England get beaten by die Deutsche! Deutschland Uber Alles and all that!!

Food today...not great!

Brekkie - 2 x 55 cal brown toast with 50g low fat cheese = 260 cals
1 cup of tea - 10
1 skinny latte (worth it for escaping from the office and having a nice pat-on-the-back chat with my boss!) - 135 cals
Lunch - 8oz plain steak and plain salad (yep another celebratory lunch) - 350 cals
Potato snack - 97 cals
Dinner - 6oz gammon steak, 1 egg, homemade chips and peas - (450 + 60 + 200 +30) = 740 cals
5 pieces of liquorice - 100 cals
1/2 pack of 75cal chocolate buttons - 38 cals

Total - 1730

Did 5 miles on the spinning bike to try and at least atone a little bit even though we got home late and walked 3-4km during the day into town and back.

On a positive note...yet another pair of trousers I put on today are getting baggy - these ones were tight a couple of months ago so somethings happening down there in the way of toning...and buttocks...

I'm away tomorrow and really busy for most of the weekend but I'm going to try to be good!!

Oh crap! Thanks for the info. Here I was busy all day and even missed the Italy/Slovakia match. Dopey me.
Guess I'll have to root for England now! lol

(Does that mean I gotta drink Guiness now?) lol

Take care you and great to hear about that promotion. Will we be reading about you in Forbes magazine??

Hugs :sifone:
