BikiniBound's Diary

Oh, here's my rant/pity party for the day::nopity:
When I got my passport pics taken today, I was totally annoyed at how bad my double chin still is. :cuss: I compared it to the passport photos I had taken in July of 2005 when I weighed about 255lbs (32lbs heavier than I was today). I could see no difference at all in my face--the double chin looked the same as did the width of my face. :banghead: WTF!! VERY discouraging.

So now I have found the motivation to step it up. I had fooled myself into thinking I looked better than I do. I want to look a lot better than that for my London trip. So BB's gonna behave herself for the next 5 weeks. Let's see how much weight I can lose in that time. So far I've only eaten 362 calories today. :svengo: Don't worry--I will be at 1400 at least before the night is finished. :biggrinjester:

So here's the plan--to keep exercising like I do, but get my ass to the gym to do weights 3X per week. And my eating will be 1400-1650 most days with a weekend splurge considered 1650-2000. There will be NO 2000+ calorie days between now and June 16th. :patriot: scout's honor. :biggrinjester:

Lord, give me strength!!!!!

Kimberley, I want to do this with you for the next 5 weeks as well. Are you doing the higher cals the whole weekend or just on one day? Good plan!

Oh yeah, the pedometer at the walk will be very interesting. You'll be walking tons of steps for a great cause!

What's the itinerary while in London? Friends houses or hotel, etc.. No need to give names ha ha.

Yeah, I figure I'll walk at least 36 miles--2 miles per hour.

We are staying in a holiday inn express just east of central London--got a fantastic rate. Margaret and I are meeting up the Sunday before we leave--can't wait to meet her!!

As to the itinerary, I've already done just about all of the touristy things there, but H has never been. So I'll leave some of it up to him. Wimbledon will be starting up the day before we leave, so I am hoping we can get inside the grounds--and go through the museum there. We'll probably catch a play one night, eat some Indian food. I WILL be going to the Tate Gallery (it's free!), and I'm sure will hit most of the big parks--good places to eat lunch (probably grab a sandwich from a shop and eat there during good weather). I'm sure I'll take H to Trafalger Square, Oxford and Picadilly Circus, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, Buck Pal, etc. I'm so excited--cannot wait!! Of course we'll do our share of pubs, too. I've got H hooked on Boddington's Pub Ale drafts in the can..lol That week is gonna fly by, I just know it. I've never spent such a short time in England. Prior to this, I've always spent at least a month. :nopity:

I find England a beautiful place. I love old things, buildings/streets etc. for one thing. That sounds like a great trip for you and H!

Yay! I was secretly hoping you'd be on board. :biggrinjester: I'm gonna shoot for just one high cal day, but as long as it's under 2000, I think 2 days wouldn't be so bad. Lately my weekends--Fri, Sat and Sun have been 2500-3500. So if I can be that disciplined during the week, I think I'll be okay to eat a bit higher on the weekends.

I will have a weekly max calorie limit of 11,550--that's an avg of 1650 per day. I'm starting this today, so mine will run Mon-Sun.

We can do this!!

How's the mum?

Also, don't let one stupid picture piss you off so much. That said, if it's going to motivate you.... have at it!

Mum's the word. :smilielol5: She is ok. I asked her how her eating was lately and she said it was good. I take her word for it. She hasn't used the resistance bands, but I'm mainly concerned about her eating. That's numero uno imo.

The pic pissed me off b/c there should be a noticable difference in 32lbs, dontcha think? H looked at both pics and agreed that there wasn't much difference. However, he said that was a really unflattering pic, and that I look much better than that pic. So that made me feel a bit better. Still it IS motivating me to try harder, so I think it's a good thing it pissed me off. It's not as though I'm crying in my pillow and feeling bad about myself. :)

Numero uno IMO as well.

Not necessarily.

You might hold on to fat in that general area.

I'm sure in the 30 some pounds you've noticed differences elsewhere on your body.

Still it IS motivating me to try harder, so I think it's a good thing it pissed me off. It's not as though I'm crying in my pillow and feeling bad about myself. :)

I didn't think you were crying in your pillow. :)

And I know what you mean... I've taken some pics of myself that pissed me off to the point of lifting harder than I otherwise would've.

Have at it!!!!

Yes, unfortunately my face is the first place I gain, and the last place I lose--my gut as well. My lower body is where it goes on last and comes off first. Long thinner legs, and a fat torso. To use a phrase coined by my FIL, I must have looked like a pig on stilts. :smilielol5:

Anyway, this trip is also helping to motivate. I would like to be close to onederland by the time our plane takes off. :) The last time I was in Europe I was at 165lbs. :svengo: I know that is not gonna happen in 5 weeks, but at least I can be closer to 200.

I look forward to seeing what you are capable of.

Sometimes I think it's good to temporarily ditch the 'lifestyle mentality' and really see what you can accomplish through pure dedication during a specific, short period of time. These sort of challenges can kick start and motivate the best of them.

OK, first day of our 35 day challenge down. I ate under 1500 calories and exercised 45 minutes at the gym. I see you also did your fair share. Good job woman!

How's it going Kimberly?
Are we still on for Shipshewana later this month? Sorry I haven't been around much in the past 2 weeks. It has been so crazy busy here that I barely have time to stop and breathe let alone get on the 'puter.
Hope your still planning on coming down for a visit.
Let me know. I will scan thru your diary tomorrow to catch up. Right now I need to head off to bed.
Chat at ya later!

Looks like you did well on your calories and other nutrition today! Keep it up! I hope this week goes well for you. (FOR BOTH OF US!!) How is the couch to 5K plan working for you??

Hi Kimberly,

Any news about the condo offer?

I would have thought that the exterior stuff whilst being the responsibility of the condo association would be of major interest. I think that the equivalent is leasehold over here - and ultimately the service charges and other charges go up when a lot of renovation / repair is done. The property owner gets the fun of paying then.

Complaining about the cost of petrol again for looking at lots of properties!!! We paid 110.9 pence per litre on Saturday when we last filled up.

Well done for kicking off the passport renewal. I'm sorry that you are not happy with your photo. Very few people tend to like their passport photos. I think that the rules about how you have to sit mean that there is hardly a chance of liking it.

I have to say that I saw very little difference between my own photos from October and February - but other people seemed to notice changes that I couldnt really see. I knew that I had lost weight - but nothing really jumped out as looking that much better. Maybe others would notice changes in your photos that you dont see.

It sounds like the photo is going to motivate you to work ever harder. Even if the photo is not a good likeness it could be a powerful motivational tool. It doesnt really matter whether the thing that motivates us is real or imaginery - it is the level of motivation that we get that really counts.

If your double chin concerns you - do you cream it? I swear that helped mine go.

Well done for finishing week 1 on the running.

You really cannot help yourself from kicking off challenges. Now you've started another one! 1483 calories are brilliant.

Great news that your mother is still watching her food too. She could join you on this new challenge.

As far as the walk goes - it is great that you are going to wear a pedometer. It is worth trying to keep track of how many laps you have done because pedometers can rob you. That is why I started wearing two pedometers (which so amused you on my last photo).

I cant wait to meet you either.

Take care
Love
Margaret

With your busy life, I don't know how you ever find time to post. Don't worry about it. Yes, as I said in my PM, we're still on for Shipshe. :) Hope you got some good sleep!!

Brandy--As I said, I finished week 1 yesterday, but am putting week 2 on hold until after the big walk. I'm concentrating on walking this week. :) Weekk 2 of C25K is gonna kill me!! I can't imagine what weeks 3-9 will do to me. :smilielol5:

Margaret--No news on the condo yet. I called and left a message earlier.

Usually with condos, they take the monthly assoc fee and put a chunk of it towards exterior repairs so that condo owners aren't hit with a big bill when the roof needs re-shingling. :)

Gas here went up to $3.99 per gallon today, which is $1.05 per liter or 55pence per liter (keep in mind the exchange rate in your favor makes that look cheaper to you than it is to us). Your cost over there comes out to about $8.30 a gallon if you translate. Ok, so we don't have it so bad, however, we have larger distances to drive, and I usually go through about 13 gallons of gas per week which adds up to $52 a week for gas. H uses about the same, maybe a bit more. So now we are paying over $100 per week for gas, where we were paying about $50 per week 2 yrs ago--and our salaries have not increased during that time. So we now have $200 less per month than we used to, and food prices have also gone up, meaning I spend more on groceries than I used to just 6 months ago. I'm sure lots of Americans spend even more money on gas than we do--as many have longer commutes to work. The trouble is that unless you live in a very large city in the States, public transportation is poor or non-existant. There is no public transportation where I live, and the nearest shops are 4 miles away..lol. I really feel for lower-income people who are really suffering due to this. There really isn't much they can do to offset the cost, since moving closer to one's job isn't always possible with the housing market the way it is, and when both spouses work, they may already live as close to their jobs as they can. Buying a more fuel efficient vehicle isn't always possible either, as the added expense of a newer vehicle offsets the savings in fuel. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Something really needs to be done to either bring down the cost of oil or develop more energy efficient cars, etc. :cuss:

I don't see how creaming my chin will get rid of the fat that is there--only losing weight/fat will help that. Also, my skin is too oily for that--I'd be broken out in zits. :ack2:

There is no way to accurately keep track of my laps. I tried last year and it didn't work. I will have to depend on the pedometer--even if it cheats me some. I'll still have a pretty good idea of how far I walked. :)
