Beyond 200

As long as you've got your eating in check, don't worry so much about the number on teh scale - and make sure you're taking measurements...sometimes weight just fluctuates...

Thanks Mal, that's good advice. I'm logging my food into fitday at least once a week to make sure I know what calories I'm taking in. I'm not taking measurements, so I'll start doing that.

Hello!!! I hate it when the scale goes up when you are doing all the right things. I'm sure it will be going back down soon, you are doing really good. I need to catch up to you.... trying here. hehe

I'm rooting for you Miss Jelly Belly! You helped kick my butt under 200!

I had to fight with the scale this morning to get it to read 196-something. I have a digital scale that I bought last year at bed bath and beyond. It should work fine, right? Well, lately, it changes its read within almost a full two-pound range. My routine is to get on it first thing in the morning, naked, and, ideally, refreshed (ie, bm -my husband's least favorite abbreviation).

This morning, the first two times I stepped on the scale it read 198.4, which was not acceptable. I waited a minute, let my baby play step on the scale (which he loves to do, all 27.2 pounds of him), then got on again - 197.6. Better, but still not what I wanted to see. 30 seconds later, 197. I decided to wait a little while longer. 20 minutes later, 196.8. A smidge up from last week, but I'll take it.

I decided to stop doing battle with the scale and move my ticker up to 198, which is what the scale said this morning. Yesterday it said 198.6 - but I'm going with today's #, 198. Looking back over my June calendar, I worked out 22 out of 30 days in June - all good, solid workouts. I feel great about that.

Also, I started weight training in June through a class at my gym. My eating was very consistent with what it was in May. I'm thinking my body is in transition, getting stronger. I went to free classes at the gym Friday (group power), Saturday (group groove), and Sunday (group power). I went to my 6 a.m. pilates class this morning and was sweating 15 minutes into it. That's the skinny on not-so-skinny me.

Hey Friend! You sound like me. I get on the scale several times and take the best 2 out of 3 numbers. lol

YOu're still under 200, so good job!!! One foot in front of the other...

I took my first spinning class yesterday morning - "group ride" is what it's called at my gym. It was tough! I was dripping sweat. So was everyone in the class. Someone told me that by the end group ride, you're counting the minutes till it's done. She was right! The hour-long class started at 9. After a while, I looked back at the clock to see how much longer we had. It was only 9:20! Anyway, I made it through - it was definately a good workout.

I did not eat too much at the 4th of July BBQ we went to - but, unusual for me, I had a big snack, really a meal-sized snack, at 11:30 p.m. after we got home from the fireworks. I had one small plate (6" plate) filled withTriscuits, sliced sausage, cheese, and roasted red peppers. I drank half a beer and followed it up with a dark chocolate/pomegranate ice cream bar. It's really weird for me to eat like that late. I think I was a little legitimately hungry (but not that hungry) because it was a very active day, and I think I wanted some comfort because the people at the BBQ weren't very friendly. We went to this BBQ 3 years ago, and it'll probably be another 3 years before we go again. Going has its advantages because it's a close walk to fireworks at the beach, which I love, but both times I've left feeling a little emotionally unsettled b/c of unfriendly people. Oh well. Today's a new day.

I'm not sure whether I'll exercise tonight, it may depend on how tired Frank is, considering how late we kept him up last night. I'm not sure about tomorrow's exercise, either, but I'm going to group power classes Saturday and Sunday mornings. Good luck everyone!

p.s. the scale this morning said 197.4

Hey you dont worry too much abt the scale if you are pushing your body harder and more than yes you are gonna gain muscel and it does weigh more - One of the other lady's on her does those group power classes in the evenings she is Miss Ladybug...pretty damn cool wmn...anyway good for you on all the extra exercise :D:D:D

You should take your measurements

Hey,

I was going thru this once with the scale too. My weight trainer suggested that I take my b.m.i. and measurements. I was amazed to see how many inches I was loosing, but not showing weigt loss. It was very incouraging to see I was still getting slimmer, and all my hard work was in fact paying off.

Hi gettinskinny - I do need to take my measurements, you're right. I fished out my tape measure a little while ago only to discover that it's only 28" long! That's not long enough to measure much about me, except maybe my big head. :rotflmao: I'm heading to Walgreens today so I've added a tape measure to my list.

I have to say that I'm feeling good today - definately slimmer. I resisted the temptation to get on the scale this morning, so my feeling is based purely how my clothes are fitting. I've got to say, this pre-pregnancy outfit from 2 summers ago looks pretty cute. Yes, I've got a lot more belly than I did before Frank, but I'm doing o.k..

I went to the group power class at my gym last night (Monday night), Friday evening, and Saturday morning. All three times, up to about 10 minutes before I left, I didn't really want to go and thought about bailing. But I bucked up and went and each time I was really glad I did. I'm planning on getting on the treadmill for a stair routine tonight, earlyish, then going to bed early (9:30?) and going to tomorrow morning's 5:40 a.m. class. Wish me luck!

I'm not feeling so well so I didn't do the workouts I planned for last night or this morning. If I feel up to it, I'll try to do some sweating on the treadmill later, otherwise I won't worry about it.

The good news is the jeans I'm wearing - size 16 from Forthe & Towne. It's a full 20 degrees cooler today than it's been the last few days so I decided to wear jeans. I recently rubbed through the thighs of my favorite pair (I hate when that happens!) and I'm left with two pairs that are a little baggy now and not so flattering. So, I reached in the shopping bag from Forthe & Towne from my June trip there just before they shut the store down. I refused to buy size 18 (again), so I bought size 16, though I was sure I couldn't fit into them yet. Today, I fit into them no problem! They're just the right size! I'm making progress! In a few months (late Sept?) I'd like to be a size 14, and in my fantasies a 12 - but for now I'm psyched about the 16. Yea!

Thanks stuco! It feels really good to have stayed under the big 200 ever since I got here. That's what I remind myself to keep positive when I get frustrated that the scale isn't continuing to sink. Although . . . today it was 196.2. I hope it's there again tomorrow for my official weigh-in.

Tonight I'll go out for a jog/walk with Frank in the baby jogger. Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday - group power classes at the gym. I'd love to go to a class tonight, but it starts at 6:50 and my husband won't be home by then. There's a day care at the gym, but I can't bring myself to drop Frank off there when he's already been at day care all day - it seems to cruel to pick him up, bond with him & play for a few hours, then drop him off again. I just can't do it. Baby jogger instead.

Yesterday I had an unexpected, awesome day with Frank when the day care wouldn't take him because he'd had a fever the evening before. Though he was feeling & acting fine yesterday, their rule is that he has to have 24 fever free hours. So, my husband brought him down to my office, we hung out here for awhile and he was cooed over A LOT at my office, which was fun. Then we took the el back home, took a long long walk (which he napped through), and then bumped into some new neighbors whom I really like. We spent the next hour or so playing in their yard (which was also awesome, since we don't have a yard). I was in a great mood, and was saying "awesome" a lot in a silly way while feeding Frank dinner. He picked it up and now can say "awesome" too, which is unbelieveably adorable (he's only 15 months old!).

195.6 this morning! No fighting with the scale at all! I didn't work out last night because we're all a little under the weather. Poor Frank woke up at 3 o'clock in the morning this morning with a temperature of 103 - the highest I've ever seen it. Once he's had some tylenol he acts fine & full of his normal vim & vigor, so I'm not worried about it. We think his body is just fighting off a virus. But still, the poor little guy gets hot as a coal! He's home with his dad today while I'm at work catching up on some things which I better get back to. In any case, depending on how my little boy/boys feel when I get home tonight, I may or may not go to a class at the gym. I will definately go tomorrow morning, and will go Sunday if Frank is has been fever-free enough for the gym day care.

Awesome on the weight girl and that pic is great - you are looking like a slim mom - keep up the good work and I am so sorry it has been awhile since my last visit...

16 jeans

Hey girl,

I knew you were loosing some inches. There's no way your doing all of that hard work and nothing is changing. So sorry to hear about Frank. I know is always seems like one of my little ones has a runny nose or something making it difficult to get to the gym.

My husband and I put the kids in the bike trailer and tag-a-long and took a bike ride last night. It was awesome. I was just about dying, just goes to show how out of shape I have gotten. The good thing though, he loved it, and said he'd like to do it every evening. This is so good for me, because he dosen't usually like to do anything, exersise with me. He gets such a good work out all day at work, he dosen't usually want to do a regular cardio with me at home. He's more of an extreme sportist. He really wanted to go mountain bike riding. I talked him out of it, saying "we can't take the kids off road in the trailer and tag-a-long. HEHE. he still enjoyed the 3 mile paved ride thru the designated bike trail. He just took as many little off road trails that he could find. He was also popping wheelies and pretending to race me and my 4 yr old the whole way. He's so funny.

This great for me though, because my normal routine of "oh my husbands home, lets eat dinner and watch a movie, and go to bed" should now be broken. Hopefully we keep motivated. We have definintly been trying to get out more in the evenings now that it is nice out. Going to the park, or a community event has become pretty regular.

Anyways I'm rambling. I'm gonna try to get to the gym. Hope to hear from you soon. Your doing a great job. I'm proud of you getting all of that exercise with such a busy schedule.

You go girl.
