Before and In-Between-Minimee's journey so far

Aye, I really do think you look amazing already. It's absolutely a mental thing to focus too hard on a number on the scale - I would know since I'm absolutely guilty of it! My boyfriend has asked me if I've realised how thin I've become now - but because I'm so focused on seeing a certain number on the scale, I haven't even really stepped back and seen myself until recently!

Skin definitely weighs a fair amount! Glad to hear you're still doing so well though, and that your life is going in a good direction! Very happy for you! x

Hello Sarah1983 how are you?

Thank you so much for the ongoing support, I am doing just fine
smile.gif

I am currently at 152lbs, I have been trying so hard to keep losing weight but I honestly think that this is the lowest weight that I can achieve without making myself ill.

I have spoken to my Dr and he has told me that my loose skin weighs approx 7lbs, so I have to keep telling myself that I am already at my healthy weight(If I deduct the weight of the loose skin ;))

I am now looking at ways to tighten the loose skin, I will do an update with pictures etc over the next few months.

I really appreciate the support you have given me and I hope you are achieving your goals

Thank you

Hi Mini!
smile.gif
Nice to see you update a bit on here!

Wow, you're really maintaining! That's awesome! :hurray:

Loose skin is such a bother, but it sounds like you're on the right path for improving it.

7lb isn't bad. For me, I would guess it's around maybe ~10lb+. I haven't actually been checked out for a specific number, but a doctor has seen me shirtless just a few months ago and has already said I could probably look into consultations for contour surgery.

I think that's the avenue I'm going to take. I still do strength training Mon/Wed/Fri, but with my age/genetics, and some research online, sometimes there are just deposits of fat/skin that can't be fixed - even with all the strength training in the world.

Ah well.

Glad to see you're doing well and haven't lost sight of your goals!

Update more often, yes? Looking forward to your future pics!

I'm good thank you sweetheart, nearly at the end of my 'journey' as well, and I have you to thank for a lot of the inspiration! Yours was one of the first threads I read when I first started, and your successes really helped drive me forward!

I think you have done absolutely amazingly, and I would love to see some new updated pictures of you, as you promised in your last thread! I'm sure you don't need to lose anything else, and from the single new picture on the first page, you look fantastic! I'm guessing you've got a new wardrobe and such as well, now?! C'mon, show it off!

Are you still exercising at all? If yes, which ones?

Hi frogged (my inspiration )

First of all let me apologize for being M.I.A these past months.

Through being at college and making decisions about my future, I havent really updated which is a poor excuse really, due to the fact that I owe this site and the members so much!

Well where do I start?... I'll get the worst part out of the way which is loose skin, as you already know this has been one of the frustrating parts of this journey for me, but I am learning to accept it, and I am hoping it will improve over time.

I won't try and sugarcoat it as you know I have found the loose skin a challenge as it just felt like a constant reminder of how I used to be...and it still is, but I have realized that I can either A.let it be something I get upset about and dwell on. B. persevere and hope most of it goes away (my doctor said it can take a couple of years for the body to absorb loose skin tissue) or C. wait until I can afford contour surgery (this is the very last resort but depending on how the next few years pan out, I would consider this option).

The last time I updated I wanted to get down to 145lbs or lower (medically they say this is the weight that is healthy for me and it would have put me at 100lbs off of my heaviest weight), but without trying to I was hovering between 150-152lbs and I have accepted that this is the weight that I can comfortably maintain.

I have never really been one for calorie counting or regularly checking the scales but throughout this journey I have got used to it (sometimes obsessed over it haha) but I am not anymore.

The way I look at it is, I have lost a substantial amount of weight, improved my health and lifestyle and feel so much better about myself, that I would rather be a few pounds overweight(which I said in my earlier post the skin weighs approx 4-6lbs), knowing that I can still have the things that I enjoy and be realistic with maintenance.

As usual I have wrote an essay haha, I really do appreciate the support that you constantly show me, I am in need of a major catch up on here.

Thank you for always being here for me, and through your inspiring/ amazing progress, keeping me focused.

Hi Sarah

So happy to hear that you are close to your goal, I am really happy that I was able to inspire you, this alone makes it all worthwhile to me.

I am still exercising, 5 mornings a week, and I have now included pilates ( the doctor recommended it to tighten loose skin), and I felt great after only a couple of sessions.

I run approximately 5K, 3 times a week.

Originally I was running 30k a week, but i am told that if you do shorter runs at a faster pace, it can be more beneficial, so I cut my 3 10k runs down to 5k and I sprint throughout.

I do other cardio which includes, body combat, biking and dancing for approx 4 hours a week.

I also strength train for about 2hours a week and I do an hours pilates, this is a typical week for me.

I am so flattered that I inspired you, and it just makes me want to keep improving my health, and to help others to do the same.

I am very happy that you are doing well,be sure to keep me updated on your future progress

Thank you for the support and If you need any more info, let me know

Mini!!! :hurray:

About time you updated!!

Looking so fantastic, as usual! LOVE your new pic! You look absolutely gorgeous!!!

I still get a bit shy when people consider me their inspiration tho.. hehe. I really do appreciate it, of course! It also really pushes and reinforces my focus when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at certain times, so I sincerely thank you for the lovely words!

You've always been a huge source of inspiration for me as well, Mini! :hurray:

Wishing you the absolute best!

Aww thank you!

I really do owe you so much and I know exactly what you mean about the shyness when people consider you an inspiration, I also feel like it makes me focus more, and to be honest I haven't been on here very much but I need to make a conscious effort to do so.

I really do not know where I would have been without yours (and many others on here) support.

I cant believe that you are online at the same time as me haha! I'm starstruck hahaha

I wish you the best too! sending you my virtual love

Hi there! First off, congratulations on such a drastic weight loss. You look great. I am 5'4 and my starting weight was 240 -- goal weight is 150ish. Like you, I don't have a specific number that I'm aiming for, but just hoping to be healthy and comfortable with my weight. Major kudos to you for what you've accomplished so far... definitely an inspiration :)

Hi Loveme4me

First of all, let me apologize for such a late reply.

Thank you so much for the kind comments, even to this day I am so very grateful to inspire people to want to get health.
I encourage you to just keep at it, no matter how hard it seems or if you have a "slip up" just get straight back into it and with hard work and dedication you can do this.

There is a huge amount of support on here and there is always someone that can give you advice and encouragement (I can vouch for that :))
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I am going to look through and have a much needed catch up on here.
Thanks again for the comment and good luck

Hey guys

I am back after being MIA once again, I have been uber busy and still keeping the weight off, I actually took some pictures today, to show you my progress, I have been following so many suggestions to tighten the loose skin(from Doctors, other forum members)
Although I am not giving up on this, I can not afford the surgery and I intend to make the most of my 100lb weight loss, Yes I did it (well sort of haha) basically I have gone from 245lbs to 147lbs.

On a visit to my Doctor, I was informed that my loose skin weighs approximately 7lbs, so therefor I am 140lbs, but as I have said from day1, it was never really about the numbers on the scales and more about how I felt about myself.

I am very happy and healthy, I have actually taken up running outdoors, and it has become a huge part of my life/Exercise regime.
I ran a 10k race for charity :hurray:
Running in public is something I never thought I would have the confidence to do, but I do it now without a second thought.

Although I do eat what I want, I have found that there is a lot of healthy food that is really tasty, so I don't feel like I am missing out, and I do tend to go for the healthier option most of the time, I do have not so healthy foods on occasion too which I really enjoy.
I don't like to call it a treat, because to me that makes it sound and feel like a diet, and those of you that have been following my progress, know that I do not like that word :)

To me this was always a lifestyle change, not a fad diet or a "quick fix", it was and still is a huge part of my life.
I have gained back self esteem and confidence and this has enabled me to meet some inspirational people and some which have become lifelong friends.
I wouldn't necessarily say that I was ever a shy person, but I would certainly shy away from certain social situations, I didn't like to be made center of attention, but now I am able to hold my head up high and when I walk into a room and someone looks at me, I no longer get that thought of "they are looking at me because I am fat", I now get the feeling that "they are looking at me because maybe they like my hair ,or my dress or my handbag(you get the idea haha!)

I started this in January 2011 and in February 2013, I am still working hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle, because it is something that I will work at for the rest of my life.
I do not mean this in a negative way either, what I mean is that in order to stay focussed on being healthy, it has to be a part of your life, and it has to be something that you acknowledge, I will not be on the scales each week I am more aware of over indulging or not exercising regularly.
I always tell myself that I have worked way too hard to ever go to where I was back in January 2011.

As I mentioned earlier, I have developed loose skin, and I am looking at ways of improving it, so my update photos are not going to be about the weight loss anymore, but more about loose skin, stretch marks and improving the skin after weight loss.

Thank you to everyone for the ongoing support, and good luck for 2013

-Minimee

Here is a photo of my abs since the weight loss.
The skin around the upper abs is quite toned, the lower abs have the majority of the loose skin, which I see is quite common with drastic weightloss View attachment 19975
