And so it begins, again.

Well here I am, baffled as to why I am here again. I was doing so good, then out of nowhere I stopped. Last summer I lost 40 lbs then in November, I stopped working out and stopped Dieting. I gained 27 lbs since then. I was doing great, I was motivated, I was comming to this website everyday for motivation.

I honestly don't know why I stopped, but now I'm going to start up again with a vengence. Bright side is I'm not as big as I was once upon a time ago. I'm close though. So wish me luck, give me support and I'll gladly return the favor. I have some pretty lofty goals but I know I can do it.

I'll do some cardio for now, weights in a week or so. I broke my thumb 5 weeks ago and it's still a bit sore, but it's almost 100%.

I'll leave you all with a quote I enjoy.
Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement.

Well it happened. This morning I took out the scale, the food scale that is. This thing has been sitting in my cupboards for months and months, glad to see an old friend.

I have a few plans for today, gonna do 30 minutes on my eliptical and maybe go check out some freeweights. I can't use them for another week but if I have them I might try some light weights on them.

Alright, today I ate a tad too much, not sure though.

Cereal 75g
fruit smoothie
Pea soup
apple endive salada
4 pieces of BBQ chicken thighs. ( they were tiny, I think two of my pieces were broken in half)
2 pork mushroom sandwhiches.

I also had 4 beers, which led me to eat that second sandwhich. It was a friends birthday, but I'm strongly considering giving up drinking for a while.

Thats what I went through too......

I made a conscious decision to eliminate the very bad variables right off the bat.

I chose to quit soda, candy (sweets in general), all fast food (actually I have gone out to eat once since Ive started...and it was a salad...lol), salty snacks, coffee, refined/process/prepackaged foods, and alcohol.

by eliminating these, I have jump started the loss cycle to a pretty quick pace. And I havent really missed any of them yet.

I do give myself one free day a week for any urges I do have, as a reward if I do good that week.

seems to work OK so far. (( dont know how much I will crave a six pack of beer three months from now....but we'll deal with that when the time comes right?))

:willy_nilly:

Hehe, yeah I hear that lol.

My problem is I brew my own beer and I have about 100 of them just sitting there. Seeing that I usually go for the best flavor I never add preservitives so they keep for 4-6 months then they get skunky. Maybe I'll throw a big party and all my friends can drink all my beer haha.

I have always been interested in that. How long you been doing it?

For about 6 months, but I have a friend who's been doing it for 5-6 years mentoring me. You can really make any kind of taste you want. I'm not a fan of dark rich beers but I made one with chocolate, coffee and honey and I have to say, it was sooo delicious. I've made cream ale, Wheat beer (which is super light and sweet) Pale Ale, Amber Ale and so on. When you make it you save a bundle too. My beer costs me about 35-45 cents per beer depending on my ingredeants.

How about start up costs though? I think when I checked it was gonna take about 150-200 to get started after you get the kit, bottles etc....

Start up costs are low, my starter kit was 40 bucks and my bottles were 50 but I got the fancy bottles, you can get some for 10c each. Mine where $1 each. They are self capping, meaning you dont need to buy bottle caps and a capping machine. Grolsch is a dutch beer that has this same style of bottle.

Tip: get brown bottles instead of clear or green, when too much light gets into the bottle while it's on the shelf it gets skunky.

Found a picture of the bottle, but I use a brown version. They are fun to open too, they pop like a champaign bottle.

Yeah those are what I looked at too. I saw a Good Eats episode where he made beer which is what got me interested. I have birthday coming up maybe that is what I will get. I love that kinda thing. I have a bit of alchemist in my. I make my own soap and pretty much anything else I can figure out how to do myself.

Hey there,
Just wanted to stop by and say hello. We can do this!!! (Then we'll all come to your place and have a big goal reaching celebration and get rid of that beer for ya!)

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I am a beer lover too and consider myself more of a connoisseur than anything else. I know how hard it is to stop drinking the beer you love and if the occasion rolls around, drinking beer you swore you never would (bud light/coors light) only because it has less calories.

I'm starting my 3rd week in here and on my diet and it's been so hard to stay away from my beloved wheats and hoppy beers. But... if I can do it, I know you can. The best thing you can do with the beers you have brewed yourself, as heart breaking as it is, is to give them away/sell them or put them where they're out of your sight/mind (unless your brewing is part of your income). Then THAT's another story. lol

Anyway, best of luck to you! You've done it before, you can do it again. :)
