I usually get inspiration from the food i've got on hand. I start out iwth one thing and then i need to find a recipe for it. So first i got to my recipe books. I have a reasonable collection but as I got rid of quite a few a few years back, i don't always find the answer. So then i check out the web. I just put in the item and google away.
You could borrow some recipe books from a local library. Its a good way to find books that you may decide to buy later on.
Why not have a go at some sort of asian recipe. Japanese is often low cal. I think most of them are really. And its so much fun cooking foreign food.
I also love french food and contrary to popular belief, it doesn't have to be overly rich or high in calories. And anyway if you find a high cal recipe you can always adapt it. When i say, i particularly mean mediterranean food. I love all mediterranean food.
Also middle eastern food. What about making meatballs in tomato sauce a la greek style
Or have a lebanese meal with their meatballs. I love meatballs.
I love taht greek dish with fat maggoty pasta and mince. I can't remember the name.
Stuffed vegetables with meat. Yumm ie stuff tomatos, or capsciums, or marrow, or even aubergine.
How is it you never eat fish? Don't they have good fish there?
