Amy's Diary--March Madness Edition

Well, well, well...here I am...trying to lose weight...again.

Not sure what I want this diary to look like, so I'm sorry if I seem a little multi-personic at first. (I know...that's not a word.)

I'll start with some goals:

1. Get back to where I'm drinking at least 48 oz of H2O. Every. Single. Day. I'm currently a rockstar at drinking 32 oz a day--need to bump that up a bit.

2. Stay within my sp (smart points) limit each day. Yes, I'm a Weight Watcher--if Oprah can do it, then, dang it, so can I.

3. Increase my average weekly steps by 500 steps a day.

Hi AmyLu & welcome to the forum. Your diary can evolve. I was not at all sure how mine would turn out when I first started. It has turned into an epic! :blush5: Having sustainable goals is a good place to start & drinking enough water is very important, as is getting a good night's sleep. All the best. Cheers, Cate.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, it can't be any worse than mine. Mine's a hot mess. And it's like my 4th one? I don't even remember anymore. haha! Good luck with your goals!! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, Cate and Jen. I'm excited (ahhh...the newbie excitement...remind me of this in 3-4 weeks, k?)...anywaaay...I'm excited to be back at it and part of a forum again, heck, I'm even excited for my WI tomorrow.

Today has been a good day. I'm within my SP...even have some left for a little snack later. I'm closing in on 64 oz of H2O for the day. My step count is lower than norm. I'm still sorting out this Fitbit thing. Next week is when I'm really going to focus on increasing my step count. For now I'm still getting used to it and gathering some baseline info of what a 'normal' week's step count looks like.

Some of that newbie excitement rubs off onto us AmyLu & that's a good thing. You're off to a great start!

March 4: Friday!!!

I had a great WI this morning! Just what I needed to keep me going. D2 is coming home from college this evening before leaving for her spring break trip in the AM. We're going out to eat with various other relatives, but I feel confident in my ability to make good choices. As soon as I know where we're going, I will do some research and planning ahead for the evening. My hubby and I eat out A LOT so I'm not uneasy about what to pick. No other exciting plans for the weekend...unless laundry, cleaning and paying bills gets you excited. Hubby works tomorrow so I should have a nice, quiet day at home.

OP day: 8/8

So we ended up not going out but ordering pizzas instead. There were just too many of us to try to go out on a Friday evening. Pizza? Yeah, that's a tough one for me. I love me some pizza. I had eaten lightly during the day since our dinner plans were up in the air. But still, I knew I could totally lose it on the pizza. After a slight panic, some research on the SP values for various kinds of pizza, I had a genius thought. On the way to my parents house I stopped at good ole Mickey D's and bought myself a salad at the drive-thru. Everyone else was already at my parents, as was the pizza, so when I got there I ate my salad and enjoyed my family. I still had SPs remaining, so I allowed myself one average sized piece (cut in squares instead of slices) and one rather smallish piece. By this time the pizza was cold and not as tempting. And I was satisfied. I had to guesstimate on the SP values but I think I'm fairly close. I also left 2 SPs uneaten for the day. I started to find a little 2 point snackie at the end of the night, but decided that I wasn't really hungry and since I had to estimate the points for the pizza, I would just go to bed. I deserve a medal for that!

I've spent quite a bit of time reading diaries here this morning. I must say you are a great bunch of people--humorous, insightful, supportive--just the kind of people I'd like to surround myself with IRL. However, much to the dismay of Stella, my pit bullish couch buddy, I am going to have to remove my fat ass from the couch and get moving for the day. This house ain't gonna clean itself!

Well done on getting a salad & showing lots of self-restraint. You have got this AmyLu!

Me too. They are a great bunch!

OP Day: 9/9

Had a quiet day at home--did some laundry, cleaned a little; relaxed. It was also a 'hungry' day. Let me clarify, the evening was a hungry evening. I did fine all day, but around dinner time I was wanting something tasty and satisfying. We ended up going to the local Mexican restaurant. I counted out my tortilla chips...bonus points for me! I feel really good about how I ate. I didn't mindlessly eat chips and salsa, I ordered an entrée only so no rice or beans. The entrée was high points but I enjoyed every single bite. I also didn't order a margarita...even though they make really good ones! I noticed while I was eating that I was feeling full, so I asked for a to go box. Guys, I NEVER need a to go box, because I never cared whether I was full or not. So...while it was a higher than normal points day, I ate something yummy without going completely overboard. I'm counting today as a WIN!

OP Day: 10/10

We were invited to my oldest son's house for lunch yesterday--first time ever. He recently started renting from a friend, and this is the first time he's lived 'on his own.' He made spaghetti and garlic bread. Neither was particularly delicious, but I was please he invited us so I politely ate it. :) However, I was starved later on. I ended up using one of my weekly points for the day--still made good choices, rather than eating the ice cream in the freezer, I had a greek yogurt. (Also, if you haven't tried the Dannon Light & Fit Greek chocolate raspberry--go buy some NOW!) I was 8 oz short on my water goal because I was confused on what my goal actually was. I was thinking it was 48 oz; and downed 16 oz right before bed to get myself up to 48, but the goal was actually 56. Oh well, it was a good effort!

Well done Amy on making the good choice of yoghurt, over icecream. It's nice that your son had you over for dinner. It must have made him feel quite grown up. It's hard for sons to do that!

Mmmm... spaghetti and garlic bread. We hardly ever have that because Chef hates it. Like, with a passion, he hates it. lol! Good job on the greek yogurt instead of ice cream! :)

My husband isn't crazy about spaghetti either...says it just doesn't fill him up. Early in our marriage that was a staple meal, because it was so inexpensive. Once he said he didn't like it, I stopped making it. Then one day I made a 'pasta casserole'...mixed the sauce in with the pasta, threw it in a casserole dish and topped it with some parmesan. He loved it! I still laugh about that today...same damn ingredients served in a different dish! :smilielol5:

OP Day: 11/11

It was Monday. Blech. But I made it through.

So we had this stray doggie show up in our yard late Saturday night. We've posted him on several lost pet websites, put up signs, had him scanned for a chip--nothing. He had a collar on; he was clean; and he's fairly well-behaved. He has to be someone's pet. No one has called about him and now we're faced with having to take him to the animal shelter. It breaks my heart. We can't keep him though. My son has a pittie/boxer (and they both live with us) and my daughter has a pittie/mastiff (and they both live with us). There is literally no more room in our house...for people or pets. I've taken to calling him Tyson, because every dog deserves a name. He follows my husband around everywhere he goes. Such a sweet dog...he deserves a family! I've instructed my husband to tell the shelter that if no one claims him or adopts him, they are to call us rather than to euthanize him. I can't stand that thought.

Just realized I reported the wrong FP and step count for yesterday. Actual FPs earned were 6 and total steps were 3510. Still met my goal!
