Alligatorob's Diary

Good looking boots, Rob. Yes- make sure you break them in & wear good socks, maybe 2 pairs to prevent blisters. Yay for another 4 lbs, even with the slight increase in food :)

It was a good day, I ate well and got some exercise. I walked about half of last weeks hike in the new boots, and I did weight training. Defrosted the peaches and had some for after dinner snack, they were good.

When I have oats for my breakfast, Rob I usually just soak them overnight in low-fat milk, add berries or stewed fruit & then a dollop of Greek yoghurt on top for extra protein as well as a sprinkle of hemp seeds & a few chopped walnuts for even more protein.
That does sound good, and a bit fancier than mine. I have been thinking about trying the cold oats thing.
Glad you are defrosting the peaches . Sounds great .
So am I, and they were great. Thanks for the idea.
Congratulations, it's well-earned!
Thanks LaMa, it feels good.
And yes, I meant oatmeal
Oatmeal - porridge, seems we are separated by a common language!

Thanks, I am breaking them in a bit, the boots and my feet.

Not sure about the waiting for the Angles part, but its what I could find.

We call the cold ones overnight oats as it’s made the night before and left In a sealed jar overnight . My kids make it for themselves with oats yoghurt, linseed , fruit milk . I personally don’t enjoy oats unless in a granola
years of being made to eat it as a kid.
Sounds like a great day you had Rob

Very good news on two fronts - on at least two fronts! Cheerful about the continued weight loss - and also great about your knees getting better. And about the peaches, too - so good, in so many ways! :D

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and feel good.

I did the hike up the hill again, got a little farther, not much, than last week. According to Google I walked about 1,600 meters up, with a rise of about 130 meters, an average slope of about 8%, then I walked down. I wore my new hiking boots, that helped. I still have a long ways to go to get to the top, but at least I have started. And there will be snow on the upper part for a few months yet so I can keep working up to it. I sure would like to be able to make it to the top by the end of summer, we'll see. This is the walk I can do from home.

Where I turned around today, my house is in the valley below.

Where I want to go, to the top.

I missed your entry yesterday but this sounds so nice!
Yes, it was nice. I am trying to ride the bike at least once a week, more if I can.
I usually heat mine up in the microwave
I will have to try that, I like hot oatmeal.
EXCELLENT WORK!
Thanks TM, it felt good.
Sounds like a great day you had
Thank you Petal, it was.
great about your knees getting better
Yeah, I am happy about that. You don't cure arthritis, but making the leg muscles stronger lessens the effect.
Well done on the exercise
Thanks Emily, I am trying to get in at least 20 minutes of exercise everyday. Most days more. So far so good.

That sounds like a great goal. To see where you are aiming for, to get a little closer each day...and all done in good outdoor air!

Rob, I really do think you need to be eating more with your current exercise level. I have seen you have felt like binging the last couple of days. Maybe your body is saying it needs more sustenance. I do worry about you.

What Cate said. Also: walking up to the snowline regularly while it recedes sounds like a fun way to regulate your distance.

"To the top" meaning to the high still-snowy part on the right? It looks like an exhilarating walk! And if you give us photos of the changing view as you go, a little bit higher each time, it'll feel as if we're going with you, seeing a little bit more each time. Is that the plan? It sounds fun! :)

Ok, I am going to give it a try. Just had a larger than normal bowl of breakfast cereal. I will try upping my minimum to 1,200 calories today. Thanks for sticking with me.

Yes, but not before the snow melts. Its about another 1,000 meter elevation rise, no small challenge.
building it up each day bit by bit as the weather gets warmer is great.
Yep, that's my current plan.

It should be, but so far I have been turning around short of the snowline, but its still winter we will probably get more snow, even at the house.

Yes, but right now I am only doing the hike once a week or so.

Increasing your calories just that little bit, but maybe upping the protein a little too should help with cravings. I really admire you for what you have achieved Rob & I understand your fear of eating more. I'm confident that you will be able to work out maintenance if you slow things down a little soon.

I was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and feel good. I did a weight training session and got 40 laps on the bike. Went out to dinner and did fine.
Sounds like you´re doing great so far. I hope the calorie increase will work well!
Thanks LaMa, so am I.
I understand your fear of eating more
I know its not rational, but I do have that fear. I am now trying to eat about 200 calories a day more than I have been. I think it will be ok.
