It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. Also got exercise.
I went to the gym today, and right now am planning to tomorrow. They provide everyone with disinfectant spray and require all to disinfect every surface touched before and after use. They also have banned anyone showing any cold or flu symptoms. And the gym is relatively empty, attendance is way down. It feels as safe as you can get to me, I think I will keep going until it gets shut down, or I get sick. Hope that is not a bad decision. Seems about the safest outing I can find right now. Of course the Utah State Health Dept could close them down at any point, but not so far. If they do I can always walk/hike or bike, am still doing some of that anyway.
I also went to a grocery store, things there were also safety oriented. They were limiting the people in the store to 50, fortunately I was there at a slow time so it wasn't an issue, but at busy times you have to wait in line to get in. They had wipes for your hands and the carts, and encouraged people to use them. But at least they were still open and stocked with most things. Most Utah ski resorts have closed, and the few that are open are limiting the number of people allowed in.
And they will remain so as long as it´s legal, due to fear of going bankrupt. Which I understand, but can still be a huge source of infection.
I probably won't be going out to eat any time soon, doesn't seem to have the same benefits as the gym. However for now restaurant closures here are voluntary, except in a couple of counties. We have no bar in the county I live in, so no need for closures.
Rob things will surely start to close and follow suit other states . Delighted to hear a local restaurant has closed up its seated area but is offering delivery and take out option instead
Probably so, Utah is one of the lower population density states, keeping our rates low so far. That may be why we are behind. Some restaurants have closed voluntarily and many of those are also offering take out and delivery.
I'm not getting out much right now!
Probably the wise thing to do, or not do. Amy do you think transmission rates are slower in Australia, you are still in summer, is that helping?
Interesting that most all comments seem to be about the virus, not too many on food and exercise. Hopefully things will settle down and we can get back to the real reason we are here. Not to be complaining or blaming anyone, it is what's on all of our minds. I also appreciate the international perspective of this group.
It was in 1205 that Pope Innocent III laid down the principle that Jews should be doomed to perpetual servitude, because they crucified Jesus. Innocent (strange name for the man) also started 3 crusades the Forth, the Albigensian, and the Fifth leading to the slaughter of many an innocent person and no perceivable good. Yet inexplicably he has been honored by the US Congress and his bust hangs in the US Capital. That may should be reconsidered.
