Alligatorob's Diary

Yay for no more leak! What I can tell you about the Minoritenkirche is that I actually find it kind of ugly on the outside :p I walk past it somewhat regularly in normal times. They stream church services if you´re interested.

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and feel pretty good right now! I did wake up feeling a bit bad, stomach ache and a bit light headed. I almost didn't do my planned walk, but then got inspired and decided to try. It did the trick, cured my belly and head, I felt pretty good by the end.

The big project today was repair of the sprinkler system that got torn up by the digging. Also mostly finished filling holes and started the yard cleanup. A few more days and the yard will be ready for grass seed. This has cut into the walking I was doing, but I should be able to get back to a more normal soon.
A beautiful church Rob. Nothing is built now like was built back then .
Glad your leak is now fixed and you are onto repairing the garden.
Thanks Petal, I liked the pictures of the church too, but LaMa seems less impressed. I like any old stone building, as you say nothing like what is built now. And it does feel better to be garden repairing than waterline, more certainty and something I can do with less help.
The exercise you got while trying to find that leak would certainly have burned lots of calories. What a relief it must have been to get to the bottom of it. You must really be starting to feel the benefits of your lower weight & extra exercise.
Thanks Cate, I am sure I got some exercise with the whole repair job, not the kind I wanted though. And yes, thank you, you are right it does feel good to be able to do things I could not have done a year ago, including a lot of the linkleak work. I am however sometimes reminded of my limitations, guess I ain't getting any younger.

You are spoiled, Vienna has many impressive old buildings. In Utah the oldest European structures only date back to the 1840s, there are a few old Mormon temples and tabernacles that I like, but very few and not nearly so old as the Minoritenkirche. We do have some older Native American ruins but not many, and nothing of any size. So I'd be really happy to have an 800 year old stone church or anything else to be able to visit. Part of our house is an old adobe building that dates back to the 1880s, one of the oldest in the area, would probably be considered new in your neighborhood.

In about 1200 the Iroquois invaded Ohio. The Iroquois or Haudenosaunee, as I believe they prefer to be called but I can't pronounce, are a confederation of several Native American tribes (the Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, Tuscarora, and Seneca ) found in the northeastern US and Canada. Today there are about 125,000 Iroquois some in the US, some in Canada. They have an independent government and actually issue their own passports.

How did you get this printable sheet layout? Is this something that's available online?

Good morning Rob,
Well done on eating well , and doing the walk and tidying the yard some more.
I too love old buildings and could wander around looking at them for ever.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful architecture Rob and LaMa.

HOLY MOLY ROB!!!!!!! That's insanity!!!!! GREAT WORK! You're definitely making me feel more behind, this is a definite motivator! I'm so happy for you outstanding work!!!!!

I agree with this, haha. :) You've blown his mind Rob.

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised a good bit, and feel pretty good right now. I did an 8 km walk, including a 137 meter elevation gain. That was after a morning workout. It may have been a bit much my knee is reminding me of that. The last few km were pretty slow. I set my app to metric, figured more folks here do metric than imperial. The yard project today was limited to soaking the newly filled ground so it would consolidate and subside before leveling begins tomorrow. I'll see how the knee feels, tomorrow my exercise may be limited to work in the yard.

Thanks Dylan, and if I can be a motivator for you that is great. However you should not see yourself as behind, you are probably 40 years younger than I, so if you can get control of your weight and eating you will be far ahead of me! And I know you can do it!
Wonderful to hear about the leak getting fixed. And great job on pounds lost!
Thanks Liza, both felt good. Maybe the weight loss was best!
:p Absolutely. I do really like this one, probably from around 800 CE, although it´s much smaller and simpler:
St. Rupert's Church, Vienna - Wikipedia
And this one, from the early 18th century, which displays two Snowwhite wannabes:

Thanks LaMa, I looked both up and you are right they are quite impressive. I have been to Vienna twice, both times long ago and on business, I did not have much time to sight see but I do recall the very impressive architecture. On one trip my hotel was close to St. Stephen's Cathedral and I was able to take the time to see it, hard to forget. Maybe one day I will get back with more time, I hope so.
You've blown his mind Rob.
Thanks, but I doubt it, you seem to have a very good mind!

1300 or there abouts was the year the Aztecs began to emerge in Mesoamerica. The Aztecs would become the last of the great central American empires, all of which ended rapidly with the arrival of Cortes, his brutal conquistadors and diseases. At the time of European arrival Tenochtitlan, Mexico City today, was the capital of the Aztec empire and probably the largest and in many ways most advanced city in the world. Amazingly Cortes and an handful of conquistadors were able to capture it, slaughtering many Aztecs in the process.

That's amazing Rob when we stayed in Vienna our hotel was beside it . Wonder was it the same hotel. Hotel Konig Von ungarn .
Most fabulous cathedral .
Sounds like you need a rest day . Not that yard work is rest .

Rob, interesting how the spam ad started with your first post. You're going from 320! to 160. So with 120 lost that would be a svelte 200 lbs. 160 seem like a stretch goal - I can't even get to that - but the way you've been going I wouldn't doubt it. Congrats on fixing up the nasty leak, too.

It was a good day, ate well, exercised and I feel good tonight! Spent a lot of the day repairing damages to the driveway, lawn, and sprinkler system, things settled a lot overnight due to wetting, that took some fixing. Probably another day before the lawn is ready for grass seed, driveway may take a little longer.

The good news is our peaches are blooming, one of my favorite times here. A sure sign of spring!

Just tell me when you need a tour guide
Absolutely, I think you'd be a great guide, and a lot of fun!

It may well have been the same hotel, but to be honest I don't recall the name, it was a pretty nice hotel as I recall. Vienna is a great place to visit.
119 lbs lost is amazing - well done! :) I like how organised your spreadsheet is.
Thanks, and yes no one is more amazed than I am. I really did not think it possible. The spreadsheet comes from myfitnesspal.com, a good way to track things.

Thanks Jack, I may be a lot of things, but right now "svelte" ain't one of them. The 160 was not thought out or anything, its what I remember weighing in high school wrestling (11th grade), a time when I did not think I was overweight. It was also half of 320 and something sounded exotic about losing half of one's weight. To be honest I may have been an inch shorter back then so it may not even make sense. I kind of feel like I will know when I see it. And right now I do still see some fat that should go.
That does sound like a lot. Be careful of those knees!
Thanks Liza, It was a bit much yesterday, but my knees are fine today, I think they just got tired. I did not walk today, but got plenty of exercise working in the yard, and did a short homemade workout tonight.

Could not find anything interesting historically and am getting tired of the Angel Number nonsense. So here is one of my favorite songs from JC Superstar, which I listen to every Easter. Happy Easter Y'all!

Harod's song, no sacrilege intended.

I read yesterday that the cast of the 2011 Broadway Revival of Godspell is reuniting for an online fundraiser this Sunday. Haven´t googled to find out how to watch it but I´m sure it´s findable.

lol good song and dance routine Rob . Glad all is working out in the garden . Love the blossoms they are so so pretty . My daughter is looking for a cherry blossom . I don’t know if peaches would grow here .

It was a good day, ate well, exercised, and I feel good. Got the lion's share of the yard and driveway repair done today, seeded the grass and started sprinkling! And the driveway is almost good as new. Not done yet, but close. This waterleak has been a real PIA, set me back in other spring projects, now I can move on.

I did Google it and found you are right, but did not figure out how to stream it. Supposedly on Facebook? Oh well it should be on youtube soon enought.
I don’t know if peaches would grow here .
I suspect there are varieties of peaches that would. Lots of different kinds of peaches. The more traditional varieties seem to grow in most of the US, but not so much in the Pacific Northwest where the climate is more like yours. I grew up thinking peaches would not grow in Florida, but on my recent trip a friend of mine in south Florida showed me his peach tree, so I was wrong about that. He did say the Florida peaches were not as good as Georgia peaches (more like ours). Our cherry tree is just starting to try to bloom.
