A new beginning...

No nutrition info.. which leads me to conclude they don't WANT you to know how many calories are in them!
I think you are absolutely correct! I read a statistic recently that said that the majority of Americans (can't remember the statistic, but it was more than 50%) thought that restaurants should list the nutritional info right on the menu. I thought to myself, "Sheesh. Nobody would be ordering the chocolate cake if the calorie count was staring them in the face while they ordered!"

Not necessarily - for "most" people, calories don't really mean anything to them. I know before I got serious about this diet, I didn't even know how many calories I was supposed to have a day, and whether or not 300 or 700 or 1500 was a lot to have in food. A lot of people just don't know what to do with the information they're given. Someone who has a concept of how many calories they "should" be having, probably wouldn't have the cake anyways ;)

Interesting question abt. your goal weight. It is so different for everyone. I'm 5'6". I know people my height who are 120-150 and look abt. the same. Everyone's body is just so different. When I weighed 130-135, people commented that I was too thin and I caught every illness that came down the pike. I don't know if it was connected to my weight, but it was crazy! When I weighed 145, I thought I was fat and needed to lose weight, but I looked healthy, wore cute clothes well, and didn't have to worry too terribly much about slippages as long as I was exercising regularly. Plus, I was just looking at a photo of me in a bathing suit on my honeymoon at 145 and I look darn good! What more can a person ask for, right?

I'd definitely go to 135 and see what you think. Do the bathing suit test, the cool jeans test, and the sexy, black dress test. That'll tell you, I'm sure!! (Forget measuring body fat, BMI, etc. Just use my ultra scientific methods listed above!!!!)

I think you're right on the money!! I love your ultra scientific methods!! Sounds good to me! :D

At one time I was 140 and I am 5'4". I looked pretty skinny but I still had a flabby belly and stuff. Right now my goal is 125, but if I may end up not going that low. I agree with the others. Wait and see how you look and feel.

this is a good subject to bring up, for a whole variety of reasons! I know that I plan on seeing my Doc in April, and will be most likely in the 130s by then. I know that size 7s are what I have to look forward to in the 130s. Im still in a 12 now. but for sure its because I carry the weight in the middle. I know a girl whos the same height, same weight NOW, but a size SIX! But shes alll booty. Almost seems unfair:( BUT, when I get UNDER 130(lowest I recall being was 128 after my son was born, and it didnt last...) I was probably ready for a 6. My daughter is a 0-2 but is barely five feet and also tends to get the pudge in the middle if not careful. I also know that at the 130s I can actually run for a long while. So its a lot to do with how we feel...

Still, Im like HH....Even when I feel cute in my clothes, etc...that stupid flabby belly is still hanging over the jeans. I NEVER wear jeans till Im thin. Its terribly uncomfortable otherwise, unless they are men's jeans.

So I am going to also have to check with doc, see how im feeling, and maybe do the body fat like tru does as well. Im probably going to get a full blood work going too to check my cholesterol, and all that good stuff. I guess we will be sitting in here in the forum this summer discussing who is going to 'stay put' at the 140s. ...or 130s....or push on to the 120s! Look forward to it!

Wow! What a topic I started! ;) Thanks girls! Well I guess I shall do a thorough review when I hit 135lbs and let you all know! Of course I will post pics then and before then.. i.e. at 145, and 135 :D

It is a really good topic. I mean, how many of us are shooting for being so thin that we look anorexic? I know I sure don't want to go from being fat to all skin and bones. I want to look good!

You will reach that 135 in no time. I look forward to your complete update on how everything is and those great pictures you will be posting!

Just noticed you posted while I was typing. Great job on getting in that walk through the snow!

I must be out of the norm... I don't want to be 'skinny' at all. I will be happy when I'm out of the "overweight" range of bmi/body fat scales, which will probably be around 150 unless I put on a lot of muscle. I don't think I could stand losing my boobies past a C cup! That, and Josh (FH) looooves a bit of T&A on a girl, so he wouldn't let me get super skinny :p Its the part in the middle that's the problem.

Hi NewLeaf, boy you DID get us all yappin' huh? ;) :D I dont want to be "super skinny either". Like Beagle I'd like to keep the bust (although thats usually where I lose it first). Take SOME of my fanny and take my hips but leave the chest alone! The women in my family tend to be flat as planks but I'd prefer to have a knot or two in this plank! :D I am shooting for 117 ( I am only 5'1") but if I get to where I am toned and comfortable with how I look, I will be happy - even if it turns out to be 125 or so.

Keep up the great work. You'll figure out when you are where you want to stay when you get there :D

Lol! :) You guys are great. Just to clarify, I'm not looking to be "super skinny" either. LOL! My FH prefers a little meat on these boats. Plus I'm not made to be super waif thin! God didn't design me to be that way, and by the time I looked that way I'd probably be on death's door! :) I want to feel energetic, slim, know that my pants look a certain way, not see a flab of fat on my face in my photos, I want to be able to buy a pair of jeans, that fit me in the rear AND in leg length! :D They're always way too long! I want to buy a pair of jeans that fit my rear and my waist, as now they are always gaping in the waistline, because I need a larger size to fit my hips and butt. I want to get rid of my lovely saddlebags ;) (cause I'm not a horse!). So yes, overall I want to be healthy, and just plain comfortable in my own skin. So that might be at 135lbs. :) Might be at 125lbs.. or 128.5 lol.. i dunno! ;) We will see. but I am glad I have everyone thinkin about what the healthiest weight is for them, physically and mentally! ;)

300 calories in 1/2 Quizno's sandwich??? Tell me that wasn't a small. Was it the Chicken Milano? Let me know. I may drop my Quizno's addiction. Actually, I just made myself a yummy turkey sandwich on whole wheat that was yummy. I don't want to think abt. the calories.

M02, I am totally guessing on the calories! I wanted to order the Chicken Milano but they didn't have the "sauce" to on it, so I got a regular sized bourbon chicken and only ate 1/2 of it. So that was a small and a lite sandwich! Still I don't think its all that low in calories, plus the Chicken Milano, I have had once and I recall it had guacomole on it so that alone has to put on some calories! :( Sorry!! I'm also just guessing on my quizzno's soup tonight.. since their website doesn't give much detail on their calories of sandwiches and soups etc.

But a turkey sandwich on whole wheat sounds pretty healthy to me!! :) Low cal too I would guess!

Nope - no guac on the Chicken Milano. I am so curious how many calories are in it. Hmmmm .... I only work one day this week and that would be the only day I'd have one. Maybe I'll be good and make my own sandwich from home. It always feels so overwhelming to make a sandwich in the a.m. - like it's going to take soooo much time. But it actually takes so much less time than leaving work, getting in the car, and driving to Quizno's. Weird perspective huh? I guess I like the break from work as well. Oh well! I hope you make it to the gym. Those are strange hours - 1-5. What gym is it?

Lol, I could of sworn the menu said guac on the Chicken Milano.. must be confusing it w/ another sandwich! oops. :) Well.. every once in awhile a cheat won't hurt you. :) I wind up making our lunches the evening before for the next day. That saves me time in the morning!
As for the gym, well its a very small local gym here out where I live (I live in a gated community in a teeny tiny town, and its a 30 minute drive from the larget town in VA) anyhow.. its nice that we have the gym, but there hours aren't exactly the best. M-F its 5:30-9pm. Sat. 9am-5pm, and Sun 1-5pm. But better than no gym at all! :D

HI NewLeaf, poppin' in t' check on ya :D Looks like you are doin' GREAT! I hear ya on the gym problem. The closest one for me is an hour away - uh, no thanks. Tried it and it was way too expensive, both in time and money, to keep doin'. Videos work okay for me :) Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Keep up all the good work :)
