A new beginning...

Cassie, yeah it is a bit of a pain all the gym downsides. :) Plus not always a fan of everyone else being in there.. but luckily, this place is 5 minutes away and about $40-50 per month. so Its much less expensive than other places.. but the video ARE nice. :) For me I just needed the trainer aspect to get my self kick started. ;) Then of course there is always Bob on the Biggest Loser DVD! :D

$50 a month is cheap?! Though I guess my idea of expensive and cheap is much different with less than $300 a month to cover bills and recreation ;) But hey, if it works for you, go for it. And it definitely seems to be working for you, Dana! :D

yeah, gyms aren't cheap. mine is 17.50 a week (70 a month), its fairly basic - no pool, no spa, no sauna. they are open m-t 0600-2000, f 0600 - 1900 and 0900-1800 on weekends. i figure if i go at least three times a week i can justify the expense. if you go for an ad hoc visit most gyms here are 10-15 bucks for one session.

Yeah I know its shockin that I consider THAT cheap, but if I were to join a gym IN town, it would be double.. it'd be $90 per month! So.. we feel happy to have a gym 5 minutes from the house and only pay $90 for both of us! :)

Ramblings:
Good morning everyone! So I have today off, but Sid needed to be up to leave for a site visit for work, so he wanted to get up early, so I figured might as well hit the gym too rather than sleep in. Few frustrations, my 1 week weigh-in for the challenge came up as 155.5lbs, but I was (aka my ticker) 153.5lbs. So as it seems like just about TOM (spotting n' all) I think its 2lbs due to that. I HOPE! Anyhow off to exercise, will update this freq. with food etc. through out today! :) I need to help a friend out with her son this morning so I don't think I will get to all the journals very quickly today..
Hope you are all having a wonderful Monday!

Holy hunnies!! My gym, before I started working there, the membership was $25 a month, pool, hot tub, sauna/steam room, free classes, and open 24hours!! wow...I can't believe you guys all pay so much... but its worth it as long as ya go :) I know so many people that pay for years and never use the membership lol

Gmornin Dana

Well, Im also seeing an increase on the scale lately. Dont llike that much! But gonna trudge though it and keep doin what Im doin. I hope your day goes well, and after reading youve already gotten your exercise outta the way, I am more determined to have a great four mile walk today!

Glad you're more determined!! :) And don't let the scale discourage you. :) I think maybe its just a little way of telling us, its not going to be THAT easy. ;) Who knows.. but we WILL get rid of those 2lbs, and we will see it go further down!! :D

love the attitudes around here. i am going to hit that elliptical for 60 min today as well (just for dana & kate, ha!). d- good luck with your friend...that is tough. enjoy your day off!!

I guess I go to the poor man's gym - $11 a month. Kidwatch is 2.50 an hour (that's where they really get me: about and extra $20 per month!) Nothing fancy - no pool, only one exercise classroom, pretty limited facilities, but it's perfect for me. The schedule works for me and I like the kidwatch.

Curse the TOM for messing up your weight loss!!!!

Thank you guys. I really appreciate the support. :) Unfortunately I am going mad with cravings for chocolate or something sweet! :( its driving me crazy. I only hope by babysitting later is enough distraction to get me through this afternoon!! Hopefully he won't want any vanilla wafers. Wish me luck.. I also need to find my water bottle, since I've been drinking diet coke this afternoon. tsk tsk I know! Back to the water bottle.. lets see if I can get down another 32 oz before I go sitting at 1:30!

Dana and Kate, have you taken your measurements at all? There are honestly times when you won't lose weight or you'll even gain a couple pounds but your measurements will be smaller. You both carry a lot of muscle so that would be perfectly natural for you both.
Also TOM has a way of messing with it to (of course you both know that) so Dana, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep trudgin'. :D

Wow, great job at the gym today! You got me thinking I should go get on the elliptical too. hehe See, you are motivating me!

Virginia sounds expensive! Is the economy doing pretty good there or what? I bet it is beautiful there, right now I am studying "early american colonial art" and they show a lot of VA landscapes from the 17th and 18th centuries. Looks lovely.

Anyhow, good job today workin it sista! Keep going!

Paula, thanks for the support! :) I did take my measurements a few weeks back, but I haven't taken them again. hmm maybe I'll do that tomorrow morning. :)

MJ: Thank about the gym. It took a lt of mental determination to stay on that ellipitical. Esp. because my darn toes start to fall asleep! Yeah VA well in particular I live near the University of Virginia, so that right there ups the living expense. And it's 2 1/2 hrs outside of D.C. so.. slowly by slowly its like DC is expandin south towards us! Its not AS expensive as DC but sometimes it feels like it. ;) It is really pretty. I originate from Michigan, aka flat and farm lands! VA we live just around the Blue Ridge mountains, so it was quite a drastic change of scenery, and it is gorgeous! :D It feels country.. and yet cultural..and colonial all at the same time! ;)

So babysitting went OK. Of course, I absolutely love the little munchkins, so I was totally happy to spend some quality time with little B, and he had his afternoon nap crashed on my lap in the rocking chair while I watched a TV movie. (We don't have cable at home right now.. so this was a luxury!!) Anyhow.. I had a hard time fighting off munchies today. I just was craving all sorts of stuff, so I tried to keep myself really busy cleaning house and then afternoon babysitting. Even the colored goldfish crackers little B had looked SO yummy!. lol. :) Ihad to try one!! Anyhow.. wound up that my friends ordered us a pizza to thank me for babysitting. Which was sweet, but not necessary...but all and all the good news is my friend's preg. looks like it is going to be going OK from here on out.. <fingers crossed> she is nearing the end of her first trimester thankfully!
I hope you all had a great day to start your week off! I will hopefully get to some journals tonight or if not at least all of them tomorrow. :D

Hi there! How lucky to have you as an occasional babysitter - we have no one who babysits b/c they like spending time w/ our kids. We just have people we pay or my family who just helps out when we're in a bind and have no other option. I always get a bit sad when I hear abt. people who have people in their life who want to be part of their kids' life on that level - to have their own relationship w/ the kids that is separate from the parents. Do you know what I'm saying? Sorry to go off on a tangent! All that is to say - they are lucky to have you!!! Great job avoiding the munchies. Kids' munchies are always right there beckoning you, huh?

Howdy! :) Thanks. Well, I come from a huge family, so I've spent a lot of time being "little mother hen" to my younger siblings, or watching my nieces and nephews. My poor FH knows I have the baby itch. :) I know its hard though on people who don't have someone near by to watch your kids. So don't apologize, sometmies we all need to vent! ;) My only worry at first with our friends, was that they'd think I only came over for their son! haha. But they're great friends, and the only ones we have that live in our community. So.. trust me I know what ya mean! ;) Hope you have a good week!
