a Hillbilly diary

Most of the dogs behind fences just raise all sorts of cain as you go buy. This one comes off his property and comes to you barking and growling and stops a few feet from you. I don't mind when I'm walking alone but with the kids with me I'm cautious. I keep my pistol with me while I'm out. It's not so comfortable but just in case it's there.

we find we like walking at night, do they make reflectors that light up or something for joggers and walkers?

they make little kid shoes that light up...

a sporting goods store will sell reflective tape that you can just tape onto your jacket or shirt.... and the headlights will reflect off of it... or even a reflective vest would do the same thing...

Carry a flashlight with you as well.. you don't want to trip an fall down and go boom.. that'd hurt...

wow that's a scary thought! I used to deliver pizza like years ago
and was bittened by an AKITA I am so weary when I see a strange
dog especially when I have my kids or dog with me.I love nightime
walking the best but like you said kinda scary there is always pepperspray
lol! Be careful. Tammy

A lady near where I live, was out picking apples up out of her yard that had fallen from a tree out of neighbors yard... the neighbors yard was fenced containing two pit bulls. They thought that the lady was a threat because she was near the fence and they jumped the fence and attacked her. She almost died. The two pit bulls were put to sleep.

Got to always be careful and cautious!

I have two little chihuahua's... I prefer doglets over the big dogs... hehe. Ankle biters.

*in her best Marth Stewart voice* Pepper Spray... It's a good thing.

:D:D

I have two 'cat dogs'... but one would rather bite than make friends so she get's to stay home most of the time.

I love the large breed dogs and the best dog I ever had was a pit bull. I could leave him in the car with my kids and no one would dare go near.
The only problem is a pit doesn't seem to see the difference between kids and adults. Most other breeds will be more tolerant of kids even if they aren't a family member. Pits on the other had just seem to see it as yes or no, good or bad, my family or not. If you meet a rottweiler or mastiff or Akita on the street unless something is wrong with it, It will normally let you go by with a bark or a growl. Pits are the exception i have seen them go after a person or animal without making a sign. Most dogs, as long as you don't look them in the eyes or move to wards them suddenly will just bark and let you go on your way. A pit is a beautiful animal but they seem to be an exception to all the rules. Don't get me wrong I love pits but if your not inside their family, It can get bad real quick. I decided to go on my walk alone tonight. I can take care of the animal should it get too aggressive but it's something the kids don't need to see. I can take them on the other block but it's closer to 5 miles round trip and thats too much for their little legs. well except for my 5'11" tall oldest daughter thats only 13 in a few months. she seems to handle the walking well.

I understand the insomnia thing - I'm a pretty nocturnal creature myself too. For the past two weeks though I've forced myself to get up fairly early and go do cardio. That's been helping me sleep a little better. I'm hoping after I've done it for a little while I'll actually sleep like a normal human being!

Yea I have off so long due to surgeries that I just naturally stay awake at night. It has gotten to the point that I can't even see outside without my darkest sun glasses. During the three days of school I can tolerate it a little more, by the third day I'm ready for a 4 hour nap after school and then back to the nocturnal scene lol.

Well today went pretty well though I never did get around to that walk. It's odd but I'm less hungry having fewer calories. Does anyone else get that? It doesn't matter I know I can't keep them that low but I still have a snack I haven't' eaten yet and its 10:20. It's like the closer I get to 2000 calories the hungrier I become.

Just stopping by on my way to bed...thanks for everything. Have a great Tuesday...and try to get some rest tonight. you vampire you. :)

Yep i get that sometimes... last week.
NOW? i feel like a cow.:p Now where are those ice cream mooncakes?!??!:(

I'm gonna change your name to mooncake....you have it bad lol...... I'm already going into china town this weekend... oh they have the best food down there. I can't pronounce a word of it but they don't mind if I point lol.

The same goes for me Randy - the more I eat, the more I want to eat! Granted, it also depends on what it is. I JUST looked at my totals for the night and I'm well within range, but my sodium is 3800mg - 1400 mgs over my suggested amount...so even though I'm on the low end of my calorie range, I'm feeling VERY full

btw, good for you for walking 'prepared'. There are some dogs I would simply not trust around children. You're right, they don't need to see you handle an ugly situation, but sometimes that's way more impowering then being attacked by a dog and feeling like they (or someone with them) couldn't handle it.

*rolls eyes*

it's I-C-E C-R-E-A-M mooncake. norm mooncakes aren't fascinating enuf.

i've never been to other countries' chinatown before.... shd be mostly opened by Hongkongers? *refrain frm calling hongkies lol*:p
Cantonese food is amazing!:D

I went chinatown last week bef mid-autumn... was so packed. The shop i went to get lanterns.... at first my grp were the only customers. Think we drew the crowd in by playing with the lanterns. They hv mini ones and huge ones of cartoon characters frm hello kitty to ultraman and powerpuff gals!!!!

The china town in Houston is a mix of everyone. you will see a Chinese shop next door to a Japanese shop. Then you go across the street and there is a Filipino shop. They call it china town but it's really a mix of several Asian cultures.

I've been to Huston once. It was nice. I passed through there when I was hichhiking from Guatemalla back to Winnipeg. :D

I love going there. At times you have no idea what you are eating but it's so tasty. the only thing I have learned is don't order soup unless you are ready for something crazy hot.
well I have to get up at 4 so not expecting much sleep tonight.......
