A goal without a plan is just a wish...

I think it's great that you where able to stand for yourself! Often we forget that even if the guys signs your paychecks he shouldn't walk over you!!!! Good for you!

I agree with the others - that is so mature of you the way you handled that! I'm sure he is going to miss you like crazy and regret ever been ignorant. That sucks about your blister - I only get them from fancy shoes I try to wear - never runners. Hopefully that moleskin will help. What are your plans leading up to your race? Have you planned out what you are going to eat and when or anything? It would suck to get the urge to go to the washroom half way through. I'm just so excited for you and wish I could be there!! Your going to do great - signing up was the hardest part! Enjoy every minute of it and be so proud of yourself - we are all really proud of how far you have come!! Have a blast Sarah - can't wait to hear all about it Monday!!! :seeya::hug2:

Sarah, isn't your marathon this weekend? Good luck! You are going to do so well. All of us are cheering you on.

It does sound like you handled the job situation very well! Really great job standing up for yourself in a mature way. I don't know if I'd be able to do that!

I guess you've got a race coming up? Good luck!!! I can't wait to hear about it. I hope your blister gets better super quickly!

Hey everyone - thanks for your comments! Sorry I won't have a chance to write to each of you today. I have to start getting ready for work here in a little bit so I don't have much time!

The blister is getting better - the bandaids I bought for it work really well so I think I should be good to go for the race tomorrow! So we left off on Thursday morning... well, Thursday night I went out with my friends. I decided to volunteer myself as designated driver... go me! I drank ice water all night I probably went to the bar atleast 7 times to get another one! I had a lot of fun and we danced a lot. HOWEVER, when we left, the people I had with me started fighting with some people outside and it turned into a huge brawl. The guy who came with us (Noah) got the shit kicked out of him, the girl with me got punched by some dude (yeah...) and thrown to the concrete and got a concussion... my best friend was there and she was fine, but she had Noah's blood all over her from trying to pull him away. He would not give up. Eventually, Noah's friend who is a bouncer at the bar we were at came outside and threw the kid who began the fight with Noah down to the ground and started kicking his head SO hard... I was standing right there, the sight and sounds brought tears to my eyes! Noah had brusies and blood all over his face, he could barely stand up, his teeth were knocked out and blood was pouring out of his mouth. He was honestly getting beat for about 10 minutes straight, and no one was doing anything about it. The fight just kept getting worse and worse, more and more people starting jupming in. There were about 60 people out there standing around watching. People were taking pictures of Noah and laughing, I was getting so frustrated I decided to call the cops, but they were already on their way. We got home safe (thank god I decided to stay sober) and took care of our friends. I wanted to take them to the hospital so bad but they refused again and again. Yesterday they went to a walk in clinic, though.

So Friday there was no work out for me. I did some laundry and cleaned my room, layed outside, went out on the boat with my ex and got some more sun, then just chilled at home and went to bed early. I meant to wake up early today to workout but that didn't happen. Oh well.

I'm working all day and then tonight I'm heading up to the capitol to stay over at my aunt's house. The race is tomorrow morning at 7:20AM! I'm so excited! I wonder what it's going to be like. My goal is to just NOT stop. I want to run the entire 13.1 miles... no matter how slow I have to jog, if I have to... I just want to keep going!! I can't wait to tell you guys all about it! I will be back with all the details on Monday or Tuesday :)

Did you run the WHOLE way? If you did in that heat I'd be extremely impressed. That was brutal wasn't it. I had tons of fun and loved how they laid out the course so that the fast marathoners kept coming onto our course and passing me. Grrr

I seriously almost passed out at the end, everyone kept cheering my name so I didn't want to stop and then I got to the end, and thought about falling in the wheel chair they had waiting there. Also saw a few people go down and get put in ambulances. My buddy didn't even get an official marathon time b/c they closed down the course at 11. Hot, hot, hot!

Also, sorry to hear about your friend. Drunk people are idiots sometimes.

Hey Sarah - can't wait to hear how it went!!
That's crazy about the fight your friends were in - that must have been so scary to watch. I can't believe he got his teeth kicked out and didn't go to the emergency - he must have had a lot of booze in his body to ease the pain. I'm glad everyone was ok. Also high five for staying sober and still having a good time - can't say the same for me this weekend!
Chat soon hopefully!! I'm ready to kick some butt this week!!

Yes! I ran the entire time! It WAS sooo hot! I loved the people standing at the end of their driveways with their water hoses to spray people down. And the sprinklers! The course was awesome, Observatory was killer with that hill in the beginning though! I felt a little sick at the end - like I didn't want to finish eating, I just wanted to sit down and not move at all. I'm soo sore today! How did you do?! I will stop by your journal to check up.

Lisa it was SOOOO much fun! You better stick with doing yours - you will love it! I definitely thought you all - you, Alta, Marathon Man... it helped me keep going!

I DID IT!!!!! I accomplished my goal - I ran the entire time NO STOPPING!!! It was like 85 frickin' degrees.... but I made it and I finished in 2 hours and 25 minutes and finished 2,901 out of about 5,100 people! I ran soo fast at the last mile... running through the crowd at the finish line felt so great, it was amazing! My knees were a little sore during the run and my foot hurt a little (blister) but I didn't have any major problems.

The run was so fun. There were people holding signs everywhere - some guy with a sign for his wife, "Free nipple massages at the finish line" LOL and some lady had one that said "That's not sweat, that's your fat cells crying!!!" but my favorite had to be the 12 year old kid with his poster that simply said "MOVE YOUR ASS" hahah that really made me kick it up a notch! People were holding out their garden hoses to water people down at the end of their driveways, they had sprinklers sitting out, some had food, I even got beer from one family!

I could barely walk yesterday, my right foot is so sore. I am wayyy feeling it today. I totally want to do another half marathon but there is noooo way in hell I'd do a full one! Here are pics!!! Me and my friend that ran it with me, me just about to cross the finish line, and after the race!

Wow I'm so proud!! You did awesome!! I'm signing up for mine today! Or maybe pay day this week, lol! That's so amazing you ran the whole thing in that heat! Mine will be the end of September so I'm hoping it's cooled down by then! Did you beat your friend? How did you celebrate afterwards? I can't believe your whole shirt wasn't soaked - there was still dry parts- that's amazing!! I don't think I will ever do a full marathon either - no real desire yet anyway. Get some rest today and be ready to kick butt tomorrow - it's going to be a great week!!!

Thanks!! :) My friend came in at 2 hours and 34 minutes so I beat her by 9 minutes! She stopped to walk at about mile 4 so I think that really slowed her down. I knew if I stopped and walked it would just throw off my whole groove so I'm glad I kept going. To celebrate - well I just chugged some free chocolate milk, ate some free pizza and bananas and went home to shower! I also partied at my friend's house last night who is home from Afghanistan... I'm a little hungover lol but it felt good to relax and just have fun!

WHOO HOO you did great!!!!! I am very proud!!!! I think next year I will try one! A half lol I am not crazy enough to try a full one the first time around!!!!Good Job! Rest today you deserve it!

I never posted this but when I first came to the forum I had seen you're before and after pictures and you instantly became my inspiration. Seeing the pictures of you now (finishing a MARATHON!) just confirms why you made me kick my butt into high gear. Congrats on your amazing accomplishment!

Sarah, you fantastic woman, you did it!! Congratulations. You inspire us all. Sooooo proud of you.

Haven't checked up on you in a while and I do and wow I am so jealous! You are awesome, you know that girlie? Right now, running a whole half marathon is not even something I could fathom. You are a wonderful inspiration and I see you are super close to reaching your goal weight! WAY TO GO!

That's the first thing I thought. Granted, I got done like an hour after (and hotter) than you because I walked the last few miles but DAMN, you look like you just got out of the spa. My friend puked on the way home and was so delirious I just talked to him and he doesn't even remember puking. And I was so full of sweat and smelled so horrible. Great job though!

Thank you so much, that is so sweet! You can do whatever you want as long as you put your all into it! When I first started running and losing weight, I always said, "Don't sell yourself short" and it really helped me get to where I am now!

Thanks Juni! Means SO much to me!! <3

Thanks!! I haven't checked up on you in a while either so I will have to stop by your diary and see how things are going! You could definitely run a half marathon someday... it is within everyone's reach!

Thanks!! Well my shirt was soaked but it was soaked with water mostly.. you can't really tell in the pics! I was dumping water bottles over my head! I felt a little like puking after the race too. I can't believe your friend doesn't even remember that lol and thanks again, you're the whole reason I even signed up in the first place :)

Congratulations!!!
Wow, you really did it. So incredible. And you looked fantastic, too! :)

Thanks girl! It was a blast!!!

Okay guys - I like CANNOT MOVE!!! LOL I am sooo sore! Every muscle in my body is aching. I just want a massage sooo bad! Can someone please send a sexy boy my way to take care of that for me? HA :p I got a lot of rest yesterday and I think I'm going to need more today. I hope I can get back on my feet soon to run again. My right foot is very sore though, I'm having trouble walking on it. Hopefully the pain goes away soon!

Today I am off work and I'm really thinking about getting a tattoo. My first tattoo. I had planned to get one after I finished my half marathon as sort of a reminder of my accomplishment. At first, I thought of getting a small Nike tattoo because the shoes I started running in were Nike's, and of course what it stands for - "Just do it." I was never into being healthy or exercising and finally I just DID it and stuck with it and I came so far. But I think the Nike sign is a little cliche. So I'm thinking about getting one that says "Wake your dreams" and I want to get it on my side, maybe above the hip or right below my waist line. I'm so scared though I'll probably chicken out :(

That's all for now. Time to see how everyone else is doing!

I think you should totally go for the tattoo!! I love the wake your dreams idea - the nike whoosh is a little cliche but I also love what it stands for. I got my first one on my ankle when I turned 18 and it's a sun and then I got one on my back when I was 22 that is the leo symbol because I totally think I am everything they describe for leo's! I want another too but not sure of what - I love the idea of getting it after the huge accomplishments you've made!!
Too bad about your foot - I think another day of rest is a good idea! Get lots of protein in too! I'm so jealous you have the day off - I just feel like curling up in bed and watching movies today and listening to the rain. I wish I had more holidays - like 6 months worth, lol!
Have a good day Sarah! Enjoy it!

Hey Sarah

I like the tatoo idee. They're really not that painfull, I got mine when I was 22 because I wanted to face my fear of needles. It's kind of cliche I just got a red rose on the back of my left shoulder! I got a tattoo and I was the type to faint at the sight of a needle so you can def do it!!!! The sounds is the scarier part! Just be carefull of where you get it....I don't know if you plan to have kids later on but depending on where the tattoo is, the shape can change when it's streched and may not go back to it's usuall after you return to your size.

I like the tattoo idea too. I am thinking about getting one as well after I reach my goal (many many months from now) :) and I like 'Wake your dreams' idea as well. You totally deserve something like a tattoo after what you have accomplished.
