Thanks OHD & Pequin :) M has been working really hard lately, both taking privates as well as going to strokes & turns clinics. She's pushed herself harder then I've ever seen her, so we're looking forward to this meet! Have I mentioned that next Sunday is her team banquet? The coach let me know that Megan will be getting a trophy and a certificate as a team record holder.

She has NO idea, but OMG - the kid is going to be ecstatic! :D

It's a good thing we went to bed so early last night, or I would NOT have been able to get my 7 hours in! But I did - 9:30p to 5:00a! Phew ;)

I still have to pull up directions, but I *think* we have to leave around 6:30

Sounds like you are doing GREAT, well done!! And good luck to your little one,though it doesn't sound like she'll need it!!
 
Hey Everyone - We're back and Megan did great! She shaved time off of each event - she did the 50 yard Breastroke, 50y Freestyle and the 100y Individual Medly, tomorrow she swims the 50 Back, 50 Fly and 100 Free.

I have to jet out to get my m-i-l's grocery shopping done so I can be back before it's too dark to walk - I just had to post...

FAT food restaraunts SUCK
By 1:00 pm - my totals for the day so far is:
CALORIES 1,105 Goal: 1400 - 1750
CARBS 73 Goal: 158 - 284
FAT 55 Goal: 31 - 68
PROTEIN 53 Goal: 35 - 153
Sodium 4,470 Goal: 1200 - 2400 <----------!!!
Fiber 18 Goal: 25 - 35

It was the first time in months and months that we've hit one and I was looking at least for a Subway, but didn't know the area, couldn't find one, and I couldn't "park" the car, since I had left the lights on and had to get a jump when leaving the swim meet...so we settled for a drive through...

Urgh!! I hate the fact that it's only 1:30 and I need to be pretty done for the day food wise!! Geesh, and to think I used to do that almost DAILY!
 
well you can still get a lot in for the 200 calories or so you have left, whip up a veggie intensive salad? or go over a little in cal and get another 30 minute walk in tonight? actually that sounds nice. it's pretty here today.

that she doesn't know about, was she shocked and excited? Sorry
to hear about the evilness of fast foods I am doing bad today and
tomorrow, tomorrow was my planned treat day anyway but today
I am having company and I cooked alot of yummy stuff that I want
so I figured when was the last time I had a couple days to myself!
I am determined and motivated that I will be back on track Monday
and hope to still lose 2 lbs by Friday!
Ok have a gr8 Saturday night and simply just go work off what ya ate
then you won't feel as bad,the way you walk (miles and miles) shouldn't
be a problem! Tammy:D
 
Thanks you guys - I have been thinking about taking a walk - but I'm not all that motivated (what is WITH me lately, I think it's the cooler weather setting in, I just want to grap a robe, some slippers and curl up with my DS and play Sudoku ;)

I am planning a huge salad for dinner. I just need to stay away from SALT!!!
 
Hi M!! Wow on little m's award - congratulations to her! She must have worked sooo hard..

Sorry about your fat food problem. Too bad you couldn't find a subway - I love them!! I haven't had McFast Food in over a month! It's shocking how I'm starting to look at things now - I look at a McBurger and think - that little burger is going to cost me 2 miles and 86 minutes of yoga... nope not worth it.. drive on.
 
Good Morning :)

Well, I suppose I could have found a Subway (although that still would have killed my sodium intake for the day)...but Subway's are not drive thrus - and after needing to get my car jump started, I didn't want to turn off the engine :eek:

Oh well...I came out with the day still in caloric range, it's just the sodium was off the chart...it didn't make any damage on the scale, but my face feels fatter ;) I haven't had anything from a fat food restaraunt in almost 6 months with the exception of 2 trips to Subway. It used to be a daily event!

Megan really has worked hard and I'm so very proud of her. She is not an overly physical kid as I think I've mentioned before - she's fairly cerebral. When she was 15 months old, she was sitting on the scale at the doctor's *adding* the numbers - he looked at me and wanted to know how long she had been doing "that?" I really couldn't tell him...she was fully reading at 3, could tell you every major country in the world etc., etc., but she couldn't go down a slide. She's 10 and has never been on roller skates and can't turn a cartwheel. So for her, pushing herself in a physical way does not only *not* come easy, it touches the nerve in her that says she's not 'good at it'. The fact that she has pushed herself so hard in swimming is just mind boggling - she's grown so much from this!

OK - I'm not walking this morning - and I didn't walk last night (yes, I put on sweats, slippers, sat down and played Sudoku while watching Matrix with Bob) :D I will walk later this afternoon!

I'll take a stab at this and maybe this is more me than you but:

Even though huge strides have been made pertaining to exercise, our bodies still remember the last decade or so that we're still not 'trained' to do this motivaional routine instinctively. I think our deepest subconscience is mimincking what it knows by memory. I think it's rather normal our minds revert back to the lazier path.

We (or at least I) still have to conjure up that exercise process every day through thought - even though we enjoy it and look forward to it, it's still not the automatic lightswitch-type process yet.

I noticed (so far) breaking the new norm (our new daily exercise routines) can trigger resistance in multiple day segements and finding the mental override is about the hardest part of our day.


and yes, the cooler weather thing does apply - I 100% agree with you on that part too.
Make any sense Debi ?? or just another Trucker rambling moment ?? lolol
 
Hi M2M! I haven't stopped by your diary in so long since I've been sick. I hope you're doing great with your exercise and everything. I'm sure you're still blowing everyone out of the water! Hope you're having a great weekend!

hi m2m! just wanted to say that i stopped by, and to congratulate you on your weight loss and lifestyle changes!! and also to congratulate your daughter - i definitely feel as if i was that way in school. i shied away from sports to pursue academics and thought of sports as things i wasn't good at. resulted in me never doing a competitive sport, so i'm very impressed that your daughter has perservered!!
 
Hi Everyone!

Megan did great today! She took time off of all 3 events, and 6 seconds off her 50y Fly!

She has another meet next Saturday, so she plans on working on her turns all week hoping to cut her time - it was a *good* day!

I got my walk in :D
But...ahem...the timing is a little off - I met up with a friend and we walked 4.5 miles together (at roughly 15 minutes per mile!) So I wasn't able to get a good time - but we did have a good conversation ;)

It kind of changed my pace a bit and it's hard to factor in the time variences well, but here it is:

Total Distance 12.6 miles
Lap 1 4.5 miles 57.23 (12.71 minutes per mile)
Lap 2 4.5 miles 67.58 (15.01 minutes per mile) with friend.
Lap 3 3.6 miles 45.33 (12.59 minutes per mile)

Which brings my total time down to 13.50 minutes per mile.

I haven't had dinner yet, so I'll post that later.

I hope you guys had a good weekend, I'm hoping to go through and catch up on diaries tomorrow!

And wow to little m! More congrats her way!!

And at least you got your walk in today - even if they're not up to M standards, I still think they're damn fine. Yay! :D:D
