70 lbs lost... before and after

I am just starting on my journey and wondering if you have any advice? I was wondering how you lost the weight?

Take it one day at a time, set mini goals but focus on the long term goal: better health, better appearance and more confidence. I jump started my weight loss with the Atkins diet. Low carb is the only thing that works for me. I later added cardio and strength training 4-6 times per week.

Wow! Such a dramatic change in the face... it's like a totally different person when you lose that much weight. Congratulations on your hard work!

Thanks!

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I calculate body fat percentage as I'm pretty sure that's my problem which I need to concentrate on?

You need to use fat calipers or a scale that calculates it for you by sending an electric impulse through your body.

First of all PUI alert... (Posting Undre the Influence for those who don't know... just wine, noting else... I do so enjoy a good chianti!) Well, I may have to evac New Orleans fo r teh 2nd time in 2 weeks. It was atleast $1000 to evac for gustav... now we're faced with Ike. Shit... this sucks! Even beyond the extra cash, its just stressful to have to leave without knowing what's going to happen to your house, how long you're going to be gone... what effect it's going tohave on your kid. and it's impossible to eat right when you're on the road... fried food.. fast food... stress eating... shit! I'll have to at least run or something if there's no exrcise room at the next hotel... I put on 7 lbs since we left last week... ugh... sorry to ramble. I'm pissed... scared... nervous... anxious... tired... worried... this thing has got to turn... its headed rigth at us now...

I'm ready for all of this to be over!! :cuss: On top of being scared of losing my house, I hate losing power. It is miserable, especially at night trying to go to sleep. I hope it turns and just stays in the Gulf! Here's to wishful thinking!

Any advices on how u did it?...I am 275 now..I basically look like u and my dream is to look like your current weight...HELP

no disassemble, Mommy & Disciple, thanks for the kind words!

(great user name, no disassemble! - got a 'johnny five' chuckle out of me.)

I don't have a whole lot new to report. I've been as low as 174, but seem to hover at 177. I keep trying to really get back on the ball and work off that love handle and I do well for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, but then a fun weekend rolls around and I have a couple of drinks and lose my will and wind up eating something fried and/or dessert! But I still workout and eat pretty clean most of the time.

You are just as adorable as ever! You look so much younger and happier.

GREAT job.

If you're married it must feel like you're a newlywed all over again with this new body you have no? And if not, the ladies must be all over you.

Married 14 years.

@JurzeDvl - thanks!

Congratulations on your hard work paying off. In your befores, you still look quite cute -- but in your afters there is a chiseled-ness to your face that looks amazing. Great job!

I noticed you said something a few posts up about indulging a little bit on the weekends sometimes - and your weight fluctuates about 3 pounds. Don't sweat stuff like that. Remember the big picture is to live a life worth leading. If you're enjoying your family and being good to others then the relaxation and down time is well deserved.

Keep up the good work. :) You're a great inspiration!

@ChirpyBird - thanks, that's sweet!

@JammyPants - first, love the screenname! and second, thanks! I do feel a lot better, better about myself as well as having more energy, sleeping better and just feeling healthier.

Something new to report... tonight I added something new to my workout - Wii Fit! I thought it would be cute, but it really works you out! I did several of the strength training, yoga, balance and cardio exercises - 20 minutes worth total. I was sweating afterwards! Didn't expect that! So now, I'm going to try to add that in a few times a week, to the elliptical and weights that I currently do.

OMG! i've been looking at everyone's before and after pics and each one seems more amazing than the other!...wow, you have a really attractive face and now with a nice hot body to match...lol!

i look at all these before and after pics and looong for the day i'll have mine, i'm about 2 months into my weight loss journey but have a really long way to go, so i keep myself motivated seeing how others have managed to loose weight and it makes me know i can do it someday too! all the best xoxo
