20to10 - a journey begins with a single step.

Thanks, shinsplint! What a long day it's been, but I did the downstairs and the laundry so tomorrow is the upstairs.

The GP did all my blood work, including for diabetes, thyroid, etc as I was referred to a dietician and he needs the blood results to make the referral, which he didn't know so they didn't put me on the waiting list yet! Waaah, but the results will be in a week and I'll know the true nature of what's going on.

The wake up call of the weight gain actually affecting my organs, blood, vision, etc, has made me even more committed to losing the weight and getting fit (GETTING FIT!). I don't want to be sick and a burden on my lovely hub and kids, so I'm going to do this. Maybe what you say re: carbs is right regarding the thyroid because it's true I'm finding it a lot harder losing weight this time than previous times. In the past, I'd lose 7-8lbs the first week, and 5lbs for at least 4 or 5 weeks after that. This time, I'm in 3 weeks and it's only 9lbs all together so it is a lot slower!

I'm looking forward to getting back to working out asap. I feel so much better when I do!
Back into it again from Monday, following my plan. I'm starting with the trainer next week!

By the way, my ticker is a new one and it's a photo of my neck to waist when I was 25. I want to look like that, even more firm though! And a boob lift would be good, too!!

9 lbs in 3 weeks is still a considerable loss. But I know what you mean. The same thing has happened to me. It could have something to do with the amount of sugar/water weight you had on you when you first started losing. The more you had, the more weight you'd lose during the detox period, which is what I also found. A couple of weeks ago I was losing half a kilo per day! Which stopped when I started eating sugary snacks before bed. :(

Have a great time with the trainer! Isn't it great working out? I think I'd like a boob lift when this is all over too! Could save up for it by putting aside the money I would have spent on chocolate and biscuits... What a great incentive! :D

9 lbs. in 3 weeks is pretty good I think. I'm having trouble even losing one stupid pound a week! A lot of the time it's even less than that. Ooh, you have a trainer? You are lucky!

I can only afford two one hour sessions at this stage! Don't be too jealous. I'm only setting some goals, learning how to use the kettlebells and getting a plan for what to do on my own at home.

It's a lot harder to lose weight at different stages of your life. I stayed the same last week so I'm hoping for a loss this week! We can both do this! We can ALL do this!!!

As the others have said, 9lbs in 3 weeks is a really good loss, even if it's not as fast as other times you've tried. I'd be thrilled with that! :D

Keep up the hard work and think positive!! x

Hi guys, yes, it's exactly three weeks today since I started. I'm down 4.2kg in total, over 9lbs. Like I said, a good loss but I was used to losing 7lbs the first week! I think it's definitely a change in my metabolism, you're right. I also need some serious fitness committment. What I'm doing is slacking.

Finally out of bed from the flu and after a few hours of cleaning, I'm feeling better. I'm going to do a bit of shopping in town and then come back and tackle my wardrobe. I have to get some sort of organisation re: sizes because I can't find anything to fit me!!

Have a great day, today!

Hi Tutti:

You'll laugh but I have the wardrobe sorted not by jeans/tops/etc but by size. So, size 18/20 jeans, size 14/16 jean, size 10/12 jeans (yes I was a size 10!! at one time)...the clothes are mostly still stylish as it was only 12months ago that I was slim so they are all still looking good. I got rid of a load of stuff hanging around and freed up more space so it's easier to find stuff. The size 18/20 selection is pretty pathetic, but I'm not buying one more thing, including underwear until I'm a size 12/14. I have enough clothes there for 10 people, I just need to get smaller!

I cleaned the whole house top to bottom and I have a great feeling of accomplishment. I mean bathrooms, kids rooms, laundry, mopping, doing my wardrobe and drawers, 2 big bags for the charity shop!

I feel just great and I'm going to the cinema tonight with a friend from work to see UP IN THE AIR. You should all know that George Clooney actually loves me and wants to marry me. He was so disappointed I was taken!

Seriously, I've told my husband if I'm ever in a coma just get George Clooney to come to my hospital bed and I'll wake up to give him a kiss!

:) Burned loads of calls up and down off and on chairs, furniture, cleaning cobwebs, etc. The only thing I didn't do is the windows and the dishes and that's for my husb to do!

HOoooooray!

Well done for doing so well!! I love cleaning--I always say "tidy house, tidy mind!" I never do enough of it but it's good exercise and feels awesome when everything is clean and organised!! :D

In this house, Sunflower, it'll last 10 minutes. I'm off to the cinema and I fully expect it to be trashed when I get back. Sigh!

But yes, I feel happy and confident to start my week tomorrow. Just need to get some real working out in!

This week:

Monday (hopfully) trainer: 1 hr kettlebells, some cardio, weights
Tuesday: aquafit toning
Wednesday: aquafit cardio
Thursday: boxercise
Friday: either trainer or hopefully get the TurboJam and or the kettlebells I ordered in the post and one or both of those
Saturday: same as above
Sunday: REST!

That's the plan anyway!

Nice picture on your ticker! I've never looked like that ever! I mean I was thinner than I am, but I always had the bigger thighs and the not completely flat stomach. So for me, it's really hard to envision ever being able to be like that since I never have. I kind of feel like it's almost impossible! LOL... wow negative huh? But it's not going to stop me from trying!

I hope all your blood work results are normal. As nice as it would be to have an explanation of weight gain/hard time losing weight... it's better to just not have a problem! So I do hope everything comes back normal that way you can just focus on your eating/calories/exercise!

Ohh I'm so jealous of your picture! I've NEVER been small. Nada. When I was in high school I was big- I think my senior year I was a size 16/18, in that area, and would KILL for that now... Oh well. I'll be there, and smaller soon enuf. I know what ya mean bout the 9lbs(thats a great loss by the way!!)- its hard to imagine all the work we put into this only equalling a small amount. But ohhh how it adds up. just think of it this way: 3lbs per week could equal 50lbs in 4 months. Amazing. Always think of the bigger picture- its a LOT less discouraging :) by the way: its taken me just over a month to finally hit the 15lb mark... I would MUCH rather have the 9lbs in 3 weeks, lol!

Haha! I'm cool with that... just as long as you keep yer hands off Gerard Butler - dat boy's all MAAAAHHHNNNN!!!!! Yummy yummy yummmy :drool5:

Down 3.75 lbs this week.

Next stop is monthly weigh in on feb 10. I'll also do body measurements then.

10.36lbs lost in total.

Yay brown team!!

I'm dying to know where we'll place in the comp this week - surely we must have risen a bit on last week?

Let's hope we have some attrition and there are fewer teams who participate. I will figure out my percentage and see how it adds up.!

Mine was -1.8%! I hope she counts my 3.75lbs rather than just 3! :)

Just back from aquafit. I was only person who turned up so got a one to one lesson!!

Tomorrow back to kettle bell trainer for 3o min then possible aquafit again. Yay!!

I stayed up too late last night so I'm going to bed early!! Night night!!
I keep waiting for someone to notice Ive lost weight but no one has so far. I started with about 70 to lose so with 10lbs in 3 weeks I'm 1/7th of the way there. I suspect people will notice at the 20lbs mark. My clothes are so nondescript and baggy it's hard to tell.

Onwards and downwards!!!

I know it's just for you but I stopped by to say your ticker pick is motivating me! Reminds me how freeing it is to wear....most anything and look good in it. I can't wait to look fit again.

I wear the baggy clothes also, so no one has really noticed my weight loss. Still, it'll be that much sweeter when they do. By then I'll be well into my journey!

Come on now, this is good fun. The more we all lose the better, so I'm hopeful everyone stays on the wagon. Congrats on dropping nearly 4 lbs!
