12packAbs Diary

There are some cultures where they take naps in the afternoon, even in the office. The workers will lay their heads on their desks, turn out the lights, take a power nap. Wouldn't that be cool if we did that in the USA?
Can we do that world wide?

Also sometimes we confuse fatigue with hunger. Just rest....

I just read the start of your diary and I have another suggestion for spagetti squash. Bake or mike it so its mostly done, scrape it out of the shell and pan fry it quickly with garlic, salt and pepper and fresh parsley and lemon. My old beau was a chef and he did this on high heat in the restaurant and it was so good.

Hope you don't mind another old lady checkin up on you.

You know...I've never made spaghetti squash...I think I tried it once...but that sounds like a fantastic recipe! Thank you! I think I'll make it this weekend....and of course I don't mind...the more the merrier. :)

Edit:
Hmmm...this quoting thingy doesn't seem to be working well...

A real bummer...

Well...I saw my sports doctor this morning. I was expecting a partial ACL tear and lots of physio and off you go.

Nope.

My ACL is completely torn, so I'll need surgery. He's passing my file off to one of the surgeons and they'll call me with an appointment for a consult. It shouldn't be more than a few months to wait for the surgery and then about 9 months of recover with physio twice a week.

I won't be doing any sparring in karate until sometime next year...I can't even test for my next belt until next year...man....

I'm sad... :(

Oh 12pack :(
**hugs**

I'm so sorry to hear that surgery is the option...you will get through this and back to sparring though and be better and stronger after.

Thanks M...I needed a hug...

I'm going to try and focus on strengthening my leg before surgery as it should help speed up my recovery time.

This is going to be a very difficult summer. I'll probably have the surgery somtime during the summer...and with that beautiful weather and not being able to ride...oh well...one day at a time

Oh man :(

Not riding will be tough - but you'll get through this and your body will be stronger in the long run.

Well...at least my eating is going ok today...

7:30 am - big Latte (with 4oz of espresso....mmmmm yummy!)
8:00 am - 1-1/2 cups of blueberry oatmeal
10:00am - banana, 1/3 cup raw almonds
11:00am - Apple, yogurt with 2 tsp of flax seeds mixed in
12:15pm - Bean burrito (mushed pinto beans, a little cheddar and some salsa on a wholewheat/flax wrap), Large baby spinach salad (8cups) with olive/flax oil and an organge for dessert

Afternoon snack - baby carrots, 1/2 cup cottage cheese
Late afternoon snack - another bean burrito

Last night after karate I actually passed up on beer and wings...I was quite pleased with myself. I was pretty hungry and I knew that cheap wings would have been a dietary disaster...so I went home and had some cod, a large baby spinach salad and a yogurt with some flax seeds mixed in. Much better for me than beer and wings. :D

mmmmm espresso...

remember the popeye cartoons and how wimpy would act to the smell of hamburgers... how he'd float up in the air and come wafting down likea feather - that's me with coffee..

Well Mal...then you'd be floating a lot at my place....I make great coffee! (well it's not like I grow the beans and roast them too...but I'll take credit for buying great coffee :D

oooh roasting beans is fun and not that difficult either

youo can use an old fashioned hot air corn popper -and when the smoke detector goes off -its ready :)

makes for incredibly good coffee

Is someone making coffee???

I wonder if there's a correlation between liking coffee and strong beer?

Someone just said that the other day...but I'd have to look back, cause I forgot who it was...sorry...

Coffee
Dark beer
Red Wine
Red meat
Chocolate

All dark things...that are quite yummy

Just wanted to say hi!
I wondered what it was that drew me here, but I'm thinking maybe the aroma of coffee... The rest of the list sounds delicious as well.. :D
