Alligatorob's Diary

A good day, I ate well and got some exercise, though it was limited to yardwork exercise. Needed to get things done today, supposed to rain tomorrow. Ate a "breakfast bowl" thing for breakfast, egg, bacon, cheese and potatoes. At 400 calories the biggest breakfast I have had in a very long time, but calories worked out for the day. Home grown greens in my salads again.
Fresh veg is so much better than grocery store produce. That week (or more) of storage, combined with not being able to pick at perfect ripeness makes a huge difference.
Absolutely, and the pride of growing it combines to make a good eat!
1700 is a good number
I think so, for a while anyway.

Have to confess to eating 3 unplanned cookies last night after posting. Not a binge, but headed in that direction.

My revised food from yesterday:

Today was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good tonight. Did an hour and 45 min in the gym. Got the colonoscopy on Thursday, not looking forward to that. Will probably start my semi-fasting tomorrow evening...
Who took the cookies from the cookie jar? Not Rob! Not today! ;)

Hope you have a good week Rob!
Ha! No the cookie jar was untouched, actually empty sent the last of them home with grandkids.

Hey Rob, I haven't had a colonoscopy but an endoscopy, not the same thing, I know. But I do hope it goes well for you!!!!!!

A good day, I ate pretty well, exercised and feel good tonight. Started prepping for the colonoscopy, avoided solid foods, lots of yogurt and protein powder. Tomorrow is the clear liquids only day, and then the procedure on Thursday. I am only looking forward to it being over...
Best of luck with colonoscopy prep. If you were looking forward to it there might be something wrong with you that a scope can't fix
Thanks LaMa, and I had to laugh at your comment. I am not looking forward to anything now but being done with it.

Hey Misty, thanks I am sure it will. Had to look up what an endoscopy was, sounds similarly uncomfortable...

I think the worst part of the procedure is the prep, the stuff you have to drink to clean out your system is dreadful and the effects that go with it.

Best thing about today is it's almost over... On a clear liquids only diet and way under on calories. I tried to get some exercise in, but did not accomplish a lot. Now I am taking the awful meds and feeling quite uncomfortable. Have to be at the hospital by 6 am in the morning, at least it will all be over soon.
Best of luck with it all.
Thanks LaMa, I am sure it will be fine, once its over with...
Fast forward to Thursday evening!
I am supposed to be done by 9 am Thursday morning, wish I could at least fast forward to there.

Yep, that's where I am right now, your description seems to be right on...

So do clear liquids include vodka? Asking for a friend...
LOL, I did ask, about whiskey though, and was told no. But you may take that with a grain of salt, its Utah and the Mormons don't drink so they are always saying no alcohol to me, no matter what the question. Same thing with tobacco and smoking. I wonder if people in other places get that same direction, the nutritionist I went to was the same, she even wanted me to stop coffee, another Mormon no no... Not that alcohol or particularly smoking are good for you; I'm just never sure if the advice you get here has as much or more to do with Church teachings as health.

Got through the procedure just fine, went in at 6 am and was home by 8:30 am. No big problems, no polyps but a couple of small areas of inflammation and what he called some evidence of IBS. Dr. took small bits of the inflamed areas for biopsy, but he said it was nothing to worry about, just a precaution, less concern than polyps would have been. Will be a week before I know those results. I am mostly glad its over. I did not get much sleep last night, the preop diet/laxative regime was awful, sure glad that's over. Feeling much better now, just had a big breakfast. Maybe I should have a whiskey and smoke? Not really, yogurt, coffee, and juice were good. A long nap would feel good too.

So glad, that's over for you, Rob & that there are no polyps. Hope you take that nap & don't attempt much else. Is your idea of a big breakfast yoghurt, coffee & juice? It will be interesting to get the results in a week. I wonder if IBS & celiac show similar signs. It would be good to get to the bottom of your gut issues.

Woohoo! Very nice all went okay. I was wondering.

It was a good day, for a recovery day. I did not feel the energy to exercise, but otherwise all went well. Hoping to get to the gym in the morning.
Fingers crossed for the results
Thanks LaMa, I am not too worried about it, no history of colon cancer in the family and no polyps makes it seem like a very low risk. Hope I am not talking too soon...

Thanks Cate, and yes it was a lot of yogurt and juice, about 500 calories, a big breakfast for me. I am also hoping to get the guts sorted out, but it is better since the hernia surgery, that was a real part of the problem...

Thanks Whisper, and it did feel good in the end. Glad it is over.

Yesterday was not a bad day. Stayed on track with calories and got some exercise. I was however quite tired most of the day, maybe still recovering from the colonoscopy, not only did it disrupt my digestion, but the night before I got almost no sleep. Feeling a bit better this morning. I managed an hour and 5 minutes at the gym, it was more tiring than my usual 2 hours, but I did it, and feel good that I did.

I hope you get your bounce back soon. Your body has taken a bit of punishment lately. When you see your doctor & he has more information after the colonoscopy he may suggest seeing a nutritionist again.
