Cate's Diary

Really? (hurrying off the check Tasmanian weather)

Well... maybe on mountains?

And now I've gone back and read sensibly down the previous page, and down two kilo!! oh, well done Cate! :hurray: Really good to get a good big encouraging result - and congratulations on your strength of mind, too, in staying off the scales in between weighs. Your brain's ways of working may be mysterious, but they are certainly very effective! :D
Hope the dentist went well - yes, pricey, but one of the things worth spending money on, like shoes and staying in touch with people! :)

Snow? I just saw a report of snow in Tasmania, is it true?

Hope the dentist went well, I hate going to the dentist.
Yep! Not at our place, but 70-80 away. Tassie Summer :D
I have to go back to the dentist at 5 as I had managed to detach a "tooth" & because we are going away in a few weeks my dentist was worried it may have worked itself off while we were away. I currently have a big gap at the front where a tooth should be!
G & I are sitting in the car after shopping, lunch & a big walk near the beach. There is a group of very athletic triathletes, including a couple of one-legged ones cavorting in the sea. It's fun to watch them!
Thanks, Amy & Liza. I'm on my phone & it's too hard typing. I think I'll go for another walk. The sun just came out again :)

Sorry about the tooth trouble. Isn't it weird that even in countries with good healthcare systems dentist problems are still always expensive?

Sure is, LaMa. It was quite a traumatic afternoon really. I really would not like to repeat this procedure. I will be much more careful with biting tough things. Biting on beef jerky will not happen again. I'll make sure I break it up into little pieces. My dentist was in shock that this had happened. Truly shocked.
We didn't get home until 6 & my ap't was at 11.15 am. What a day. We both have to go back to have more work, just before we go away. *sigh*

Cate I am a firm believer in not eating stuff that’s too hard as I have broken a tooth in the past . I even chop an apple and don’t bite into it . Toffee I had to give up sadly although maybe once in a blue moon I have a little like Amy’s reisens .
good you are getting it sorted.

Hi, Petal. That will it for me too. It was actually an artificial tooth that had been attached to the back of one of my teeth. Spending the afternoon with a gap in the centre of my teeth was not good & one I don't want to repeat. It was also expensive.

Thanks, LaMa & Em. I might add I felt quite traumatised. I'm glad I can afford to have my teeth fixed when I have problems. The thought of getting around with gaps in my teeth is the stuff of nightmares.
I'm fasting today & holding out for a while before having a little BF of some mango & yoghurt with almond meal (94 cals only). I am trying to wait until at least 11 am.

Good to see you are getting the teeth thing fixed. I hate having to go to the dentist. I'll second what Petal says about hard foods, I cracked 2 teeth on hard candy (pre-diet), one down the middle and had to have it pulled.

Mango & yogurt sounds pretty good. I eat a lot of yogurt but not mango. Can you grow mango? I think probably not. We tried in Florida and were only successful one year, even cold weather above freezing can get them. The year we did get fruit we had one huge ripe mango a day for a while, kind of like bananas, hard to manage without freezing a lot.

Oh Cate that sounds terrible and I have nightmares about losing teeth . I’m happy you now have a tooth back in .
Yes the cost can be horrendous .

That does sound like a very exhausting day. Hope the worst of the dental work is done. I remember my dentist being surprised when one of my teeth cracked and broke. I had been feeling pain and told them, they had it x-rayed, saw nothing and then a couple of weeks later it broke. I don't know if there would have been anything they could have done to prevent it happening but I imagine the dentist felt bad for missing it.
Yes i really feel for people who can't afford dental work. It's a shame governments don't do more to publicly fund it. Such an important aspect of health care!

Rob- Yes- I won't be biting on anything really hard again. In Aus, mangoes are grown in the tropical & sub-tropical regions of the NT, Queensland, NSW & WA. Sadly we are getting to the end of our fresh fruit season. Cherries are done for the year :(
Petal- I'm so glad it's fixed. It looked horrendous for the afternoon, having that gap dead centre. Imagine if that had happened while we were away?
Liza- My dentist didn't believe me at first when I said I thought the tooth had become detached. He really was in shock.

I have not been moving enough lately (except for my day at the dentist) & need to get out into nature to restore some mental balance. Anxiety kicks in when I don't & I just feel out of sorts- worrying about nothing/everything. My whole body feels really tense at the moment. Today I will get out & about & go for a walk in the bush.
G just said he's about to go get wood, so I'm off!

Walking is excellent, LaMa.
My stationery bike is very...
stationery :blush5:
I feel better for the walk but didn't have much energy & was a bit woozy for wood gathering. Just having a peppermint tea & some fresh fruit.

Hope the tea and fruit helped and that you are feeling better. I sometimes lose track which day you're on--were you fasting? was that why you were feeling a bit woozy?
Walks really are such a good remedy. Especially in beautiful natural areas. I do hope your anxiety improved.
