Cate's Diary

That is pretty bad that the airline won't seat you together unless you pay extra- horrible policy - would make me grumbly, too! It's very rainy here today or I would join you in puttering in the garden.

I need a haircut, too - my husband and I do each others, as he only needs to be able to cut a straight line on the bottom to do mine. Hope you love how yours comes out!! And hope you have a relaxing, lovely Sunday!

xoxo!

So far around here they will usually seat you together if they can - but the opportunity of paying extra for your preferred seat exists and if enough people do so or if the other non-payers check in earlier than you do then usually only single middle seats will be left for the people who didn´t pay extra and they won´t be able to sit together. So not quite as actively malicious as it sounds.
Had fun pottering about?

Marsia- I think that's going to be the new norm as airlines try to make their fares look cheaper. We'll just have to do it as I do not want to sit next to anyone else. I'll email the agent and ask her for our booking number & do it myself. It is annoying, but I'm over it.
We had an excellent Sunday, but I sure wasn't lazy. I got the mattock out again & dug up a lot of Kniphofias that have been taking over our garden & did lots of pruning & hand-sawing. It was a very active day. G said something about me never learning not to overdo it & he's right. Luckily I am not stiff & sore today. I really did enjoy it!
LaMa- It makes sense that the middle seats might be the only ones left. Eek! That would be horrible. I think I was just reacting to having to pay even more than I already had. G has always been keener on "our next trip" than I have. He doesn't have to actually do anything re the planning. After this one, I think we'll stick to trips within Australia.

G's sister & BIL came out today for a few hours. She was there with their brother when he died. We had a good yak & it was pleasant.
I feel at a bit of a loss with the situation with my physical health & the need to find a doctor who will look after me properly. I tried a different doctor the last time I went, but I don't think he will be the one. He mixed up our medications. He asked if we wanted to get scripts that we could get 6 months worth so that we could take extra with us when we went overseas & we said yes, please. Then when we took them to the chemist he had only done it for half of them. I think seeing the two of us together seemed to throw him out a bit, so maybe that is why. I have trouble understanding his accent, unfortunately. Most of the doctors in this practice are from either Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. They almost all are very pleasant but I do have trouble understanding what they say & often have to ask them to repeat themselves, which I find embarrassing.
Actually just typing that makes me think I'll give him another chance. Often that happens. I just made an appointment for Friday. I have pain in my stomach on the right-hand side. I have had it for a while. It's time I found out what it might be.

I get that sometimes, too. Writing things down so they´re understandable for other helps us sort our thoughts properly.
Around here there´s quite a few Syrian and Persian doctors and it took me a while to get used to their accents as well, even though they usually speak German very well.

Great you are going to figure out your stomach pain! I also do that, where after I type something, it helps me figure it out, and I delete it and write something else entirely! We have a lot of people from India in the high tech industry here, and I type out a lot of inventor interviews where I have to rewind the file constantly because they have such thick accents - when they get excited they talk fast and slur everything together, too!

Nice you got all sorts of gardening in!

if this is a 3rd party travel package it would not be the fault of the airline, but a matter that the travel agency has to solve. when you have to deal with mostly couples where three abreast seating is the only choice, there is always going to be a problem with about 1/3 of the couples. maybe you should look at the upside of this... if you do choose to sit separately, it will likely guarantee you will not be stuck in a middle seat.

It sure does xo

I used to do that a lot. Now I just leave it there xo

Now, that would be my worst nightmare. I'll email the agent now. Done.
I'm off to golf today to play in a tournament & it is cold & showery! We hardly got any sleep. We both tossed & turned all night :(

Thanks, Marsia & LaMa. It was an excellent day. I managed to walk around the whole 18 holes. It rained a bit & was hot one minute & cold the next. We sure had 4 seasons in one day. I'll get my golf game back. I hit some great shots today. I just need to get back to playing once a week.
I really, really hurt!

That's wonderful you had such a positive day and are going back into golf! Hope you got a nice hot shower for your aching muscles!! The weather has been like that here, too - freezing in the morning and spring-like in the afternoon. Happy things turned out so well!

Thanks, Marsia & LaMa. I'm not hurting this morning & slept like a log. I really want to stick with golf. I did some stretching yesterday before I played & also felt more relaxed while I was playing, even though I got stiffer & stiffer as I went. It felt so good to complete the game. It was a long walk & also quite steep in places. I'm looking forward to playing once a week again.
It's only about 3oC this morning. Brrr! We're off to an art exhibition today, haircut, LOTS of shopping.
I weighed myself this morning. I dropped 1.5 kg in the first week of March & have not lost anything since. Today is day 13 of no alcohol. I am not finding it difficult at all.

Hi Cate I am sorry to hear about your brother in law . I'm sure you will both be glad you got to see him before he died .

I paid 50 euro so my daughter and I could sit together on flights it really irks me but I paid as she didn't want sit with a stranger . Hope you got sorted

Really nice you can now just golf once a week without all the drama. So glad you are going to do something you enjoy so much! And wonderful it's so easy to not drink alcohol! Happy hair cut!

Thanks, Petal. I'm glad we went to see them too. I have booked & paid for the allocated seats, just from Aust to Dubai, Dubai to Athens & return, but not the internal Aust flights or the internal Greek flights & it cost me $240 A. It hurt but it's done now. I just sucked it up.
Thanks, Marsia. It was lovely to play golf without any drama. I think I can go back to my old club now & learn from my experience. I will never take up any position & I will walk away when people bitch about anything to do with the club.
I loved getting my haircut. We had a really successful day. I bought a really nice pair of sneakers for our trip. They are as light as a feather & so, so comfortable. We needed a new kettle & kitchen scales & all sorts of things & got them all. A good day.
I'm a bit stiff today, but not as bad as I thought I would be.

Hope you won't get surprise soreness tomorrow but it sounds like maybe you're a little fitter than you thought! What kind of sneakers did you buy?

Lots of catch-up reading to do here! Alarm bells went off for me about that pain in your side, get it checked out!

Other than that, glad you had a nice haircut and enjoyable golf outing.

I have been trying to get some physical fitness back by walking around our rough & steep block of land & also all the digging. I am a little bit stiff today, but better than yesterday. The cooler nights bring more arthritic pain unfortunately.
I went into an expensive shoe store & asked for a pair of sneakers that I could walk in all day around Greece & the shop owner showed me the ones he wears when he is overseas. We had a good talk about the places his shoes have been :) He recommended a pair of supportive insoles, which he wears in his & so I also bought a pair of them. They are so comfortable! I'm being lazy & not going to look at the brand....

I am being sensible & have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I think it's an undigested food thing. I have a lot of trouble with regularity & am going to ask him about that. I'll try to stick to one thing.
I'm off to lunch today with the golfing women. I will have a better idea of how I feel about them after today. I miss playing once a week. I'm looking forward to catching up with them.

Brands aren´t nearly as important as individual fit and comfort.
Hope the doctor has a simple fix for your problems and you have fun with the golf ladies!
