Lift, Train, Fitness

training was very quick today, can go heavier with the seratus press, but had to drop down to DBs for my cubans as the half bar was just too much.

The joys of after hours access to an empty gym :D

Training went ok despite still having some DOMS in my quads. Deadlift, Squat and Shrugs. Slight improvement on shoulder ROM. Those dumbbells in the foreground are known as the big blues by members and weigh in at 65 kg (143 lb) each, I am one of the very few that use them.

your right, there is a good number of members who are lighter than the dumbbells, including my 20 year old son who weighs in at under 60 kg at 5% bodyfat who chickened out of training tonight. :willy_nilly:

Just got home from morning training at the gym, bench training went ok, paused bench is a lot harder than normal bench so 4 sets works up a good sweat. felt it in the shoulders more than I would like during close grip but no pain during PL tricep extensions. shoulders feel fine now. I have low level DOMS all over at the moment.

Was going to comment about your son being a bantam weight - then remembered that one of my BILs has a BMI of 19 on the dot, has had all through adulthood and is quite likely the fittest of all three.

I love it when that happens. Well, not the feeling in and of itself but the knowledge of having hit the mark on intensity everywhere that comes with it.

Today is a non training day, bub is still asleep and hubby and son (he has 2 weeks of holidays from work) are out in one of the paddocks clearing some lantana (bloody noxious weeds) before it gets way too hot for outdoor work.

No DOMS today but back has a nice worked feeling.

I know most members never read or support my diary, some days I feel like there is no point posting.

I read it every time Tru, but I'm out of my depth with the exercise you do so don't comment on it as I don't understand what half of them are. I love hearing about things up your way & your life. I used to think that no-one read my diary either, but I figured long ago that I do it for myself anyway.

I agree with Cate about often not feeling qualified to comment - you´re so in control and I have nothing to add! - but I quite enjoy standing in awe anyway. Plus I now want to look up Russian joint mobility drills just because of how awesome it sounds :)

Wow, empty gym! Your gym looks so well equipped, though.
the photo shows the main weights area, just out of shot to the left is treadmills, bikes, and rowers. to the left behind me is the open floor area room and behind to the right is weight machines for those doing circuit training. Upstairs is the Dojo where classes are done. Out the back of the gym is another building where the more challenging classes are done with stuff like battle ropes etc.

There is also a spa and sauna.

This mornings program is heavy squat and explosive deadlifts. Can't wait for my new lifting shoes to arrive, should be here tomorrow or Friday.

What an amazing gym! I am not meant to lift "anything heavy"(enlarged ascending aorta), so I will have to live my weight-lifting vicariously through yours.

finished training for the day, squats went ok, slight improvement in shoulder rom but need scans on left to see what is going on, I suspect a problem with the origin point of the long head of the biceps brachii (tendinitis possibly) which is having an effect on shoulder mobility.

I don't like having my photo taken, working on getting over that dislike, had a photo taken mid hamstring raise and posted on facebook, it is a position that shows every body flaw there is lol, especially my big arse. most of it is muscle but it is old and does have flab over that large mass of muscle.

Wide grip seated rows went ok but the weight makes me miss where I once was, completed my sets at 55 kg (121 lb), should be lifting around bodyweight at the start of a training cycle so below par but will improve.

There´s one many of us struggle with... I´m trying to get better at it as well, and have been for a while. For me it helps to realize that even some people I regard as physically flawless have hang-ups about looking at their own pics. If they are insecure about it it´s just an irrational reaction I should try and ignore. Or get used to to. Or whatever.

It has been hot today, not as hot as the southern states but the humidity here makes it feel a ton worse.

muscles are feeling fine tonight after my morning training.

I have a Doctors appointment tomorrow, I want to organise scans for my left shoulder and deal with a couple of other issues, including a cough I cannot get rid of.

not a great day, I think cate will understand this more than most.

after my GP appointment I went to make an appointment at radiology for my shoulder scan however one of the staff members on the front desk had over powering perfume or deodorant on, caused an asthma attack and a mighty headache, after going out to try and get fresh air a staff member came out and claimed it was just someone passing the desk, tried twice more to go in but the scent from behind the counter was too much. Going to get hubby to go in tomorrow to make the appointment for me and hope that the scent is not there when it is time to go in for my scan.

GP was not exactly impressed that I am returning to competition but when he asked if I thought it would be good for my health I replied that it would be good for my mental health and he understood.

.... deal with a couple of other issues, including a cough I cannot get rid of.
join the club... i am just getting over a cold (virus, not the flu). i haven't been sick in well over a year or two, so i knew i was due. but this is the pattern... i run a temp for about 24 hours after which most symptoms subside but, due to post nasal drip, the cough starts and remains for a few weeks. what i have found helps is a simple antihistamine.
