Mowens's Diary

I survived another birthday party this weekend. We celebrated my wife's grandfather's 95th birthday with some Fazoli's where I ate entirely too many breadsticks, then cake and cookies. I avoided the cake but ate 2 M&M cookies.

My weight has taken an absolute nosedive in the last 2 weeks. Not that I'm complaining, but after stalling at 233lbs for more than 2 weeks, in the last couple of weeks, I've lost a lot and I'm not quite sure why. I'm eating the same things, I'm exercising the same amount and I've kept my calories consistent. My body just decided it was going to get smaller, I suppose.

According to my records, I was 233.0lbs on 10/25/16. As of this morning, I was 226.6lbs. Apparently, I've discovered the key to losing weight and it's eating your child's candy every night even though you know you shouldn't.

It's been 2 months since I've shared a comparison update photo of me so I'm tacking one on. Sorry for the creepy death stare, it's hard to hold a neutral look when you have 'resting depressed face'. Look how fat my starting face looks now! And that was after I'd already lost 10lbs.

O wow, that´s an amazing difference! The beard changes you too, of course, but your hard work is definitely still paying off :)

The beard changes you too

Are you saying having more of it is making me look slimmer? I used to hate shaving too short because I felt like it made my whole head look rounder. I've been wearing a short beard instead of just a goatee lately and with my thinner face, I think it looks better on me. *shrug*

In this picture: yes. The beard creates a low-light under your cheekbones, creating a thinning illusion. But it can only do that because your cheeks no longer bulge out; earlier the goatee probably lengthened your face. I like the short, full beard though!

Big change!
I bet you are totally enjoying when you see someone who hasn't seen you in a while! I am getting a little of that so I bet you are really getting more of it.

It is an awesome feeling to start to look the way that you think you should look. Does that make sense-lol? I think we all have a vision of ourselves of how we think we should look or hope to look. It is nice to be able to see yourself getting to that vision. Although I would like to have less grey hair and wrinkles. Oh and have a body like the Rock-lol.

I don't have anything great to add lately. I've been trudging along. Weight hasn't budged in the last few days but I haven't done well with the sticking to the diet either so I only have myself to blame for that. I just read a comic/poem online I wanted to share because I feel like it spoke to me and I hope it'll speak to you as well:

That's me at the end in like the last three of four frames. Every single time I go running.

Hope everyone in the states had a good Thanksgiving and anyone outside of it had a good regular weekend.

I did better than expected at resisting impulse eating and managed to lose 2lbs over the weekend despite the feasts and higher than usual amounts of lying around.

Weighed in this morning and I took this screenshot on my MyFitnessPal app:

I can't lie. It feels really good to hit this milestone. I'm over halfway to my goal at this point. I found an old belt my wife had purchased for me a year or 2 ago that was once too small for me to wear at all. I can now fit into the 3rd loop. There are only 6 loops on it total so I may be adding more if I keep this up. :p I want to keep my old belt for reference and to ultimately see how many holes I'll have added by the end for comparison sake.

And I got permission to share our family photo. These are my in-laws, my wife and her 2 sisters and kids.
