From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Immunologist? I'll have to catch up later. 414 day runstreak.... I'm on day 90 something of my couch sitting streak.. haha! Good job, Q! :)

Jen..... lol

lol Q!

I'm truly shocked (with OCD) that I do not do that... Ha! I have a special delicate sponge that is only for my cast iron...I wear thick kitchen gloves so I can use only super hot water to gently clean up and scrub and then I dry immediately and add 1/2 tsp. of crisco and rub in well and then BAKE at 350* to dry/kill germs thoroughly for 10 minutes... Has always worked for me. ;)

Happy Cooking! ....and cleaning :p

I once had a cast iron skillet. My husband dropped it on his foot and fractured his toe. By heck, these sailors know some swear words don't they:eek2:.
His would have made a mule skinner blush

254.6 this morning and I'm about to head to the immunologist. 3.3 miles last night for day 414. I'm planning a longer run this weekend.

The IMMUNOLOGIST? Is that past the nerdiology department? Or is that the one by the dweebogenics lab? Oh wait, I know...it's that part of the hospital headed by lead geekologist Doctor James Von Dorkington.

As you can tell, I am amused by the nerdy sounded of "immunologist." As you can also tell, I have a juvenile sense of humor. But, this is something that many already know.

Hello Jen, Stacy, Cate, Polly, and Chef!

So the head nerdologist called today to say they reconsidered having the bloodtests done for food allergies. And in some serious shitastic developments I have figured out that I am indeed allergic to vinegar. That sucks bad enough on it's own, but that also means that thanks to the wonders of my alcohol dehydrogenase enzymes any ethanol that I ingest will be converted to vinegar right in the ole liver. That's right I am now defacto allergic to booze. Also all of our cooking sauces that don't have vinegar have ethanol. Now cooking may get rid of enough of it, but since I have this new fangled allergic development and despite avoiding it I got upset stomach after lunch. So the safe list is down the toilet and I have started over tonight with oats and pumpkin seeds. Tomorrow will be oats, pumpkin seeds, raw carrots, and only water to drink. I'm tired of being sick.

Also my joints and sciatica have been killing me. My right knee won't lock out and my back is in spasm. I'm betting the allergic reactions are t least partially to blame. I've ran a slow mile the last two days and 1.25 miles Friday night. It did feel better tonight, but it is still pretty bad. My weight was up 3 pounds Saturday, but I haven't overeaten. My guts are wrecked and the scale is pretty meaningless with all of the inflamation and gut woes. The silverlining of this FML is that I should have a good drop on the old oatmeal and carrots diet.

Have you got anti-histamine on hand and are you taking it? The modern types would help alleviate the inflammation in your joints a bit, too. Hope you´ll feel better soon, we may not be technically in the same boat but we´re probably sailing parallel to each other.

Sucks about the allergy but glad that you know the cause and are already taking steps to eliminate it from your diet. Hopefully there are some good recipes to roll your own cooking sauces.

Thanks everybody!

LaMa my knee and back feel much better today! I take first generation antihistamines every night and add nasal inhaled and second generation antihistamines in the spring. I may start up the second generation stuff but for now I'd like to see what the diet changes do on their own.

The streak is alive and the weight was back down to 254.8 this morning. Feeling much better today. I suspect that I have issues with something besides garlic and vinegar. Day 1 no coffee frightens me.

Yay for better joints! The histamine released by your allergic reactions will exacerbate any low-grade irritations. And may cause brain fog. Aaand if your guts are inflamed because of all this you may be absorbing more histamine too. Any intolerances on top of allergies?

Good luck with going coffee free today. I resulted to using tea for the first week to get past the worst of the caffeine withdrawal.

Oh no Q! :grouphug: So sorry, but I'm so glad you and your wife have answers now and y'all can work together on being careful with cooking and such to get that part under control. Bless your heart! *Hang in there!* :seeya:

Dude, you're allergic to vinegar? NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!

As long as you don't consume vinegar (or alcohol apparently) your liver is fine though, right?

Thanks LaMa! I've started another antihistamine and an acid reducer as it may be reflux that's making my throat hurt.

Thanks K&D! I made it through day one with a pretty gnarly headache. I'm feeling better today but I'm groggy.

Thanks Stacy! I've actually been doing my own super restricted food since Monday evening. I feel better and I'll slowly add ingredients back avoiding the common allergens until after my test results.

Yeah it's vinegar and garlic that I'm allergic to. The liver is fine. Even after figuring out vinegar and garlic eating was making me feel terrible and I don't know if that's from inflammation left from my allergic reactions to vinegar or if I have a problem with something else.

So I added banana, kale, and broccoli back last night with no problems. I know adding 3 things at once is dumb, but I couldn't hack just oats cooked in water again. Now that I have a more edible meal I'll try to add back one thing at a time.

My knee and back feel much better today and the runstreak is creeping along. I've slept a lot the last couple days. 254.8 again.

Think adding those three items back was a great idea. Man can not live by oatmeal alone.

All kinds of options now, oatmeal w/ banana for breakfast, banana kale smoothie for lunch and a ginormous plate of broccoli for dinner.

Allergic to booze:eek2: now that is a proper bugger. I think adding 3 things at once is a sensible way to go. Otherwise you'd still be sucking up porridge (oatmeal) at Easter.Good news about the knee and back

Yay for health!
