Healthy swiss steak

Tender steaks in tomato sauce with veggies.


  • 4 round eye steaks
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 diced green pepper
  • 1 diced onion
  • 3 chopped stalks of celery
  • 1 tbsp of Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp basil
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of flour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil


  1. Sprinkle the steaks with a little flour and brown both sides in a hot pan with olive oil.
  2. Add onion, green pepper and celery along with the can of diced tomato (including the liquid) over the steaks.
  3. Add seasoning.
  4. Bring mixture to a boil and then bring to a simmer and cover.
  5. Let simmer for 2 hours or more to insure that the meat is tender.
  6. Serve with rice!
