Xenon's diary....(enter if you dare :p)

Okay so this is how the day worked out
CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 1,198 123 32 65

Whew! I thought for sure I'd be over 1200!! Although they say it is good to consume at least a minimum of 1200 calories and I am a little beneath that...not sure if I should go for 1250 or 1300.

Well I did a little research on the site :D in the on topic section and they had some articles there about basal metabolic rate (BMR) and the Harris Benedict Equation. http://weight-loss.fitness.com/topic/11337-words-wisdom.html See Caloric Deficits and BMR.

My BMR is 1992.95 and according to the Harris Benedict Equation, the amount of calories I need to maintain my current weight is 2391.54. There is also an article which says that when losing weight we should not consume less than the Harris Benedict Equation - 1000. So I should be eating a minimum of 1391.54 calories and I should still lose approximately 2lbs a week with my current level of activity. I think I'll stay between 1200 and 1300 for this week and adjust my calorie intake as my activity increases.

Here is some info on the Harris Benedict Formula:
Harris Benedict Formula

To determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

1. If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
2. If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
3. If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
4. If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
5. If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

This week I'm at #1, Next week I should be at #2...making my calorie minimum 1740.30

I just wonder if these equations consider BMI...

I just wonder if these equations consider BMI...

I think they try to. I'm not completely sure on that, but since you do have to put in your height, weight and age it would seem so. But in the end it's really all just a guessing game and different people will lose at different rates. Try it at that calorie level for a few weeks and see what happens.

Good luck adding in the exercise!

ETA:
I'm worried about being too gorgeous actually

I don't care about other guys, but I want to make my husband :drool5:

I don't care about other guys, but I want to make my husband :drool5:

lololol :p

I feel that way too and I like looking good for myself :D But you know I just don't like the advances  Maybe I need to see a psychologist or something! (j/k) lol I even ran from a guy who was trying to get my # once :blush5:

Ok so I'm currently at 1141 calories and I need to get over 1200...I think I might do half a turkey sandwich or something.

I really should have done this calorie counting thing a long time ago! It has been really easy for me to stick to. Easier than all of the other things I've tried...and less expensive too! I guess I should wait until weigh in at the end of this month before I get excited though.

Last night I was thinking about how much money I spent on weight loss plans O_O OMG I could have saved it for a new wardrobe when I get slim.

Programs I've tried:
Atkins: Not for a carbaholic like me. I tried it when it was more hardcore when it first came out...too much meat for me.

L. A. Weight Loss: I lost like 20lbs with them and spent over $2,000. I tried it twice. If you can stick to the program you get results, but it was a pain in the :cuss:. I remember I ate a plain croissant for breakfast and had salads the rest of the day and this one counsellor circled the croissaint with a red pen in my diary like 20 times O_O I seriously asked her what her problem was! Croissant Police :p

6WBMO: I lost 15lbs on it and spent $120.00. I think it is also a good plan for weight loss but at that time I felt like I was eating too much, and without salt eating felt like a chore. Even after I got used to the salt-less thing it was just too much food for me!

Calorie Counting: So far so good. I eat when I get hungry and I can have things I like that actually taste good :D I feel better too and happier :p It feels like something I can really stick to, so we'll see how it goes. :)

My hubby just seems not to notice- I weighed 80kgs when we got together and then I got a job at a gym and dropped down to 60kgs over about 8 months and he only noticed that my boobs and my bum were a bit smaller... not that I was two whole dress sizes smaller or anything!! Boys are silly :p

You're doing great Xenon- keep at it!!! :D And honestly you're losing weight for your own reasons and not for your husband or anyone else- if you feel that 123 is achievable for you and you'd be happy there then go for it!!

Hope you're having an awesome day!

Thanks so much **Luzdafuzz** :D Congratulations on your weight loss!!! That is a HUGE achievement!!

I weigh 123 now..in Kg's :p I wish it were pounds! 123lbs would be like 56Kg...God I love the metric system :p

Oy, sorry about the double post before. I didn't notice that until now.

Grats on the calorie counting! It seems like it's going to be such a hassle and it's really not. Like you, I wish I had tried this years ago. It's really such a shame that there are so many expensive, often ineffective, weight loss things out there, isn't it? I didn't really try any of the diets before (picky eater), but I did buy into some of it. I won't list them here, I'm actually rather embarrassed about it. What on earth made me think any of that would work. :smash:

Grats on the calorie counting! It seems like it's going to be such a hassle and it's really not. Like you, I wish I had tried this years ago.

I know!!!! I thought it would be a royal pain, but it is so much easier for me than those other things I tried. Like today I had three mini croissants and I still have 500-600 calories left for the day!!!! :D:D:D:D:boxing: Take that croissant police! :p

Well so far I had zero water today and I am parched. I'm about to get some now. I average about 9.5 glasses of water per day. Had a busy day so far.

Well I did some more no cal/low cal shopping. Publix had the Pam olive oil spray on sale. I was going to buy some slim fast snack bars but they were $3.99 for 6! So I bought the 100 calorie pack nabisco snack things; 2 for $5.00 (no need for cheating ;)). I got some rice pudding which I especially love for breakfast with strawberries...the calories on that one is only 114!! Also I was amazed that an entire bag of organic spring mix salad is only 20 calories!!!!!!!!:svengo: I love this! <3

That made me lol for real! :D

lol...who the hell circles croissant with a red pen 20 times anyway?!!! :p

I forgot to put my totals from 3/10:
CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 1,298 154 31 84

And here are my totals for 3/11:
CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 1,296 166 43 59

I was aiming lower today and when I finished everything I realised that I forgot to put some apple juice I had in the morning :nopity: But still within the range I wanted so it's fine. I also managed to drink 8 glasses of water so that's good :D

And now off I go to read other diaries and info on this site :D Maybe I'll visit the before and after section.

Thanks Verobc! I plan to start exercising on Monday...I'm buying some sneakers over the weekend. I only have sandals and high heels if you can imagine that!

I plan to start with walking and then pick up the pace with the crosstrainer and jogging as I build more endurance. Eventually I hope to be running again...I love it!

Ive actually been planning it out :p
week one-walking
week two-treadmill 5mins alternate with crosstrainer 1 min for 30-45mins
week three-treadmill 5 mins alternate with crosstrainer 2-5 mins for 45 mins to an hour
week four - walk 5 mins alternate with jogging 1 min for 45 mins to an hour

etc.etc.etc.
We'll see what my body lets me do though! I plan on doing this in the morning before baby wakes and while hubby is sleeping, but if not he'll take care of the baby while I'm out.

What have you been doing for exercise?

So far I have been walking 30 min at lunch time and at night I have a few workout programs that I do once the kids are asleep (hip hop ans, and your shape) This week I started jumping rope (is that the correct way to say this??) That is a great cardio workout and on the weekend I can do it with my daughter!

Whoops I Wanted to Say congrats on the weightloss!!!!!!

Oh, I hope you did go visit the before and after section! Or if you didn't, that you do today. It's so inspirational! I love to look at the pics there and just know that there are all these people who tried and succeeded and if they can, so can I. When I start feeling like it's too hard, I go back there.

Hey Mizzie do you mind if I add you as a friend :D

I like the before and after section! It is inspiring, especially to see people who were once in my weight range go down to healthy weights.

Feeling for soda today so I think I'll Pepsi Max it up! 0 cal 0 carbs :D and a delicate lime twist :p

Sure, that's fine with me.

especially to see people who were once in my weight range go down to healthy weights.

Exactly! It's a peek into what I might be able to look like and how much difference this will make. Get's me all excited to make good choices.

Colic and teething :svengo::svengo::svengo: I feel sorry for the little one. And even though he was having such a rough time tonight, he gave me three kisses all on his own <3 Dear heart.

The breakdown for 3/12
CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 1,205 131 40 76

Managed to get in 8 glasses.

I'm getting excited about exercise :D Tomorrow I buy sneakers and I plan on walking tomorrow if I get them early enough. I need to check out our little gym here to see if there is a treadmill...sort of freaked out to go there though. The last time I passed by it some dude was staring at me through the window  I'm also wondering if I lost any more weight, but I'll wait until month end to weigh in :D
