Wittbound's Diary

Brian,

With my job it's really hard for me to even eat healthily, let alone eat no carbs. I honestly don't pay attention to carbs. I just try to stay within my calories, and that's about as far as it goes. I really should try to eat less carbs though because I do tend to eat a lot of them.

So...already ate breakfast. I had half of my bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and 1 cup of lit n fit vanilla yogurt with 3 raspberries.

I know it must be incredibly hard to do carb reduction at a pasta resteraunt. You've just seemed open to my suggestions in the past. The whole wheat pasta is def a step forward. Maybe you could do a grilled chicken salad for dinner? And I'm sure they have olive oil and basalmic vinegar, to use as dressing. Anyways, I was just putting my 2c in just from some stuff I've found to help me out. Counting calories def works for a lot of people though. Keep at it, you'll reach your goal in no time!

I had a bagel for breakfast too, only with veggie cream cheese. So so tasty! I hope they haven't gotten rid of my favorite salad at MG here in UT... I'm a creature of habit and typically order the same thing at a restaurant (ocd i know...). They got rid of my favorite dish a few years back at The Olive Garden and I seriously quit going there, LOL... I guess I tend to eat the things that no one else likes, hehe...

I was just looking at the website, and the healthiest dish/dish with least amount of carbs is called the skinny chicken. It's a grilled chicken breast with honey balsamic dressing, grilled asparagus, grilled broccoli, and cut up tomatoes. Even this though has 20% of the daily carbs I need. URGH! I could pack my dinner and bring in food that my mom makes, but I work at 5, and she usually doesn't make dinner before then. Leftovers? Usually we have none because my brother will eat about 4 servings of everything, and if he doesn't clean the dish out, my boyfriend certainly will. Maybe if there are leftovers I should divide out some the night before and keep it separate from the rest.

Starting in July I will only be working there Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so that should help out a little.

I have a question. This n.o. explod stuff really helped me last night, and I would love to be able to run that much all the time. The only thing is that Eric told me that I will get like ripped if I use it because it's a vascular supplement thing too. Should I get a women's version of this? Or should I just get like an energy thing? I'm not sure.

You're doing great. I know nothing about the energy drinks, but they sound pretty scary to me. i can see how they're tempting though. You're doing great on your running too.

I'm totally going to buy blueberry bagels with strawberry cream cheese for breakfast now. I usually eat plain bagels with a little peanut butter, but I can't resist. It sounds sooo yummy

It's probably got close to 20% of your calorie goal for the day, though. Skip the honey balsamic dressing and you've got hardly any carbs, all of which should be from veggies. If you subbed out the sides, the salmon or the ribeye could be decent choices, too. (Remember that when they do the nutritional analysis, they assume you eat all the fat, and ribeye is a fatty cut. So if you trim the visible fat, you're going to have fewer calories than the chart suggests.)

Even when I'm doing low-carb, I get most of my carbs in the evening (not entirely because I get most of my calories in the evening), with no ill effects.

You can do carbs whenever and be fine. As I understand it though, carbs are instant prolonged energy. Thats why cyclists and marathon runners kill some pasta or bread etc before a race. The down side is, if those carbs are not burned as energy, they convert to sugars and fat. So if you eat a carb heavy meal late at night, It can just sit in your system overnight and thats not too good for ya. Who knows though, my brother lost 10lbs in 2 weeks eating only ice cream. It all depends on your lifestyle and metabolism.

I do roughly 55% CARBS 30% PROTIEN 15% FAT. Now of course, those are healthy carbs and healthy fats. Like the fat in olive oil is a lot better for you than the fat in french fries. Anyways I feel like I've intruded, I'll mind my own business. Was just trying to give ya tips from my own experience.

Purpleshirt,

I was scared before I took the stuff, but I really wanted to see how it would affect my workout. Probably for the worse, it helped a lot. I don't want to become dependent on it, ya know! And I would suggest getting the Philadelphia 1/3 less fat strawberry cream cheese. You can't even taste a difference, and it's about 70 calories for 2 tablespoons, which is the perfect amount for a bagel. It tastes like you're eating badly, but it's only 300 calories!

AllyPhoe,

I think it's about 400 calories, so the calories are even a little more than 20% of my daily intake, closer to 25%. I'm assuming you're talking about the grilled salmon and not the simple salmon, but either way I don't like seafood. I think I'm just going to focus on eating within a certain calorie range for now, and maybe once I get that down I can focus on carbs.

Brian,

You are right. I used to run cross country, and we were always told to eat meat for 3 days leading up to a race, and then pasta the night before. I totally agree with you about the carbs though, and hopefully once I'm done at Macaroni Grill (August) I can reduce the amount of carbs I eat at night. For now, it's just too hard. But you're not intruding at all! Don't think that!

Took 1 scoop of my drug about 20 minutes ago. Planning on running at 3:00

Lunch was good. I had a salad with banana peppers, a little parmesan cheese, whole grain croutons, and light italian. For a side I had 8 low fat wheat thins and 1 piece of weight watchers string cheese. I realized that this wasn't enough and added a "Cup a Soup" to give me about 300 calories.

So let's see....breakfast was about 300 calories, lunch was 300, and I had a 100 calorie "reese's snack mix" for a snack. 700 calories so far.

Ah, I do way more fat and way less carb, even when I'm not trying to be particularly low-carb. If my carbs are up around 40%, that's a lot for me. Higher levels of carbs make me want to eat and eat and eat, and I never feel like I've had enough.

I eat all the time :). Just smaller portions which I understand is better for you anyways.

Today so far was:

Breakfast: 2eggs, 1/2 Whole wheat english muffin w/ PB, 3 strawberries
AM Snack: South Beach Diet Bar 15g Carb 10g Protien 5g Fat
Lunch: 6" turkey sub on wheat, lots of veggies, no cheese, no mayo
PM Snack: Another South Beach Bar... these things are super good and slide into my matrix perfectly at 15/10/5

LOL. I eat all the time, too. But if I eat fewer carbs, I feel satisfied from time to time, and stop eating periodically. ;) If I eat more carbs, I never feel satisfied, and never stop eating. Bread and pasta I'm particularly that way about, and I find it easier to just not eat them than to try to limit portions.

I don't know where I got brian? haha wow...that's kinda sad.

Time to hop in the shower, but I just found this site to measure out my running course.

It was pretty accurate actually.

And I am thinking about getting some new shoes. Really considering the Nike + ones, so I can get one of those monitors.

Had my usual kids grilled chicken tonight. Not sure how much longer I can survive off of this one meal.

I am going to start taking vitamins tomorrow. It's hard to believe that I haven't taken them since I was poppin little fred flinstones into my mouth before elementary school.

What else? Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow, but I took work off because we had planned on going to Cedar Point. My little brother didn't pass a drug test, however, and big brother has poison ivy all over his lower half. So things didn't exactly work out...

Whatever.

For breakfast tomorrow I am going to have yogurt with chocolate chips and raspberries. Yum.

Ceadar Point is great, that Dragster thing is fun but the line for the wait was horrible. I think I was there just after it came out though, so it kinda made sense. I hate woden rollercoasters though. Might as well lay a piece of plywood on a vibrating bed and lay down.

Hey Kristi,

It's okay. My little bros wouldn't pass a drug test either... We have a place here in a UT called Lagoon... Probably similar to Cedar Point, i don't know for sure... I haven't been in a couple years, and now I hear it's 40 bucks for a day pass... Maybe I will go. I hear they got a pretty neat rollercoaster put in last year, and I want to try it. They have an old wooden white one that is pretty rickity, exactly what Shaun described... Its a tradition to ride it tho :)

I need to start taking vitamins again too... I was really good about it a couple months ago but kinda fell off the wagon....

Sam,

Cedar Point is the sweetest amusement park ever. It's quite literally the number 1 amusement park in the world....and it's in Ohio? Weird, right? I've been 2 times this summer already, but I have one more pass, so I need to go again soon. I looooove roller coasters, even the old wooden ones. They can get pretty rough, but like you said...it's tradition. The Gemini at Cedar Point is a wooden one, and it used to be my favorite ride because they had 2 cars that would run side by side and race. How cool!

Shaun,

Top Thrill Dragster line can get ridiculous. You have to go early in the summer, or at the very end of the day in order to get a shorter line. I've waited for 3 hours before, but I've also waited 15 minutes.

Alright so my mom ate a whole package of raspberries last nihgt, so I had no raspberries, but I still had my yogurt. So that was about 150 calories. I told my boyfriend that I want to get subway before we go to the water park becasue I don't want to get sucked into getting chicken fingers and pizza at the park.

About to leave though...I'll be back later.

My hubby went to Cedar Point every summer growing up. he always talks about it and how excited he is to take our kids there someday. I've never been, but he makes it sound like it's the best place on Earth

Anyway, just wanted to report that the bagels were a hit over here. My 3 year old gave me ooohs and ahhhs.

That sucks about the raspberries, it sounded like you were looking forward to them. Yogurt is still yummy, and it's good thinking to eat ahead of the park.

Have a great time at the water park

haha Im so glad that your daughter liked them so much. Maybe I should open up my own bakery or something when I get older? No...I'd eat everything in it!

The water park was cool, but we only got to stay for about 3 hours before it started thunder storming. We waited in line for about 30 minutes to go on the big funnel slide. It was really cool, but that was the only one we actually got to ride. :/ Oh well...maybe next time?

Just found a really awesome recipe for a chicken parmesan bake. It's a video on youtube and the ingredients are on his website.

I think it looks just delicious. It's actually making me so hungry right now...I need to stop thinking about it.

So I had my yogurt with raspberries and chocolate chips this morning (does noon count as morning?). Very good, indeed.

It's 1:00! Lunch time!
