Walking towards success!

:) It feels like it sometimes! In fact they´re just a couple of countries away, but that´s far enough to not see them more than three or four times a year.

Yay for the upped treadmill and the rowing machine! If it´s your first time on a rowing machine: be careful, I usually see guys tear at the thing like they want to break it (at maximum resistance, too) and then rush forward again like maniacs and that´s pretty bad for their backs and shoulders (and no, I don´t get involved, I´m not their mom). But if you treat it decently it´s absolutely great exercise.

Which countries? Anyone in Scandinavia? :)

Haha, thanks for cheering and the tip about the rowing machine! I've been having some issues with my right knee and therefor I go quite slow and steady. But it really seems harder to do a 200 kcal on the rowing machine than it does on the bike, I guess it's because of the different muscle groups being at focus?

Todays workout:
*45 min Walk on Threadmilll(speed 5.5) = 500 Kcal
*Lighter strenght training = 200-300 kcal
*Rowing for 200 kcal. (Heavy!)

I really don´t know why rowing doesn´t burn as many calories as the elliptical trainer does, but I guess the fact that your weight is supported by the machine plays a role, as does the "relaxed" part of the movement when sliding forward again. But I do know it works the entire body and gives me that nice deep burn (especially) in shoulders and upper back. It´s the one machine I miss and I haven´t got enough room to get one for myself. O, well, will stick to upper body rowing.

No relatives in Scandinavia, accept for a cousin in Denmark. And we had an exchange student from Finnland when I was about 16 whom I still see as my sister but I´m not sure you´d count that as relatives ;)

Haha, who said that relatives are only counted by our bloodlines?

What is your cousin up to in Denmark and what are you doing yourself in terms of work?

Todays update:
*Threadmill 500 Kcal
*Light Strenght training 200-300 kcal
*Rowing 100 kcal
*Elliptical trainier 100 kcal

All the best!

:) That´s what I say when my patients wonder at how many people I know here: I recreated some family for myself. Cousin is a dairy farmer, I´m trying how long he´s been away now (we were never close, my uncle lives on the other side of the country anyway so we only saw each other twice a year or something). Think he left right after university, which would mean it´s been 15 years  And I´ve been here in/near Vienna for ten... If I´d remind myself of how fast time passes, maybe I´d be more motivated to lose weight NOW instead of having excuses...

What kind of excuses are you using? Let's hear ém! :D

Slept really poorly last night due to late Television(stupid habit). Got only around 3-4 hours of sleep. The gym was really hard to begin with but at the end I felt that I got plenty of more energy to use for the rest of the day.

Todays update:
*Threadmill 500 Kcal
*Light Strenght training 200-300 kcal
*Rowing 100 kcal
*Elliptical trainier 100 kcal

Ps. Had a piece of bread today since I wanted something out of the ordinary.

:) The only excuse I "need" right now is how hot and (more importantly) humid it´s been for weeks, that´s just something I physically can´t bear. It makes exercise pretty much impossible except at times I really need to be asleep.

You are doing GREAT.

Sounds like you are off to a great start! I love all the outside activity you have going on. That is something I need to incorporate into my life as well. I get stuck on actual attainable working out goals and forget that enjoying nature and family is a wonderful way to de-stress and get fit! So kudos for the reminder! :cheers2:

Thanks for the boost! It warms a young Vikings heart :)

Why do you not go to the gym daily? They will for sure have Air condition :) It would really boost your fatloss and dicipline as well as general health. 30 minutes of walking slow pace would be a great start. No excuse! ;-)

Todays update:

Had some friends over today who will stay for the weekend. Tomorrow we will go to Kullaberg and do some rock climbing :)

All the best to everyone!

Thanks for cheering! I'm glad that I can inspire other people on their own fatloss journeys! Best of luck to you :)

Ps. Your family will thank you as well!

My gym does not have airconditioning... Otherwise: I´ll spare you the details, if I really want to I CAN find ways to work out. Thank you for reminding me: those who want to, find ways, those who don´t find excuses ;)

Think of it as a goal which will be achieved because of the love and affection you have towards your family and mostly yourself :)

30 minutes off walking is nothing, you can do it! ;-)

Todays update:
Postponed the rock climbing until tomorrow and spent the day at the beach with my little brother swimming and diving for Star fish. Had a nice BBQ with friends and family in the evening.

All the best!

Ah... the thing about loving yourself... That´s a struggle if ever there was one. But one I intend to win.

I'm counting on you :)

Todays update:
Went to the mountains with my friends and family, explored a couple of caves and then we had a wonderful buffet in the evening(which everyone had earned since they really pushed themselves today).

Looking forward towards tomorrows gym session!

All the best!

:) Spend some time in a cave on saturday, too, just because ist was sooo nice and cool. Not much to explore though, it was only 3x3 m. It did contain some local kid´s time capsule :)

Good food is even better when you know your body needs and deserves it, hope you enjoyed!

That's awesome to hear! I'm glad that more people than just me love to explore caves :)

Thanks, the food tasted great!

Todays workout and yesterdays(forgot to update):
*Threadmill 500 Kcal
*Light Strenght training 200 kcal
*Rowing 150 kcal (Increased by 50 and removed eleptical trainer due to boredom)

All the best!

Boredom on elliptical trainers is very, very common :p I sometimes use the time for meditation (yes, I know that sounds silly but the rhythmic movement actually helps with relaxation, which in turn is helpfull for quite a few things) but most of the time I make sure I have a show to watch or an audiobook to listen to.

Combining excercise with audio-book is awesome!

What are your top priorities in life? What would you like to have accomplished in 10 years? :)

Todays workout:
*Threadmill 500 Kcal
*Light Strenght training 200 kcal
*Rowing 150 kcal

Went for a swim with my brother afterwards, today was really hot so it was very much needed.

I am an audio book addict! I listen to them all day long at work...until some one actually has the nerve to want me to speak and interact with them..haha.
I tend to think and talk to myself when I work out so I have a hard time listening to them then. I end up skipping back over and over.

A swim sounds wonderful...it its crazy humid and sticky here today.

Good job on the exercising ...hopefully it will rub off on me as I read your diary! lol :)

Life goals? That´s big stuf for the early morning. In fact I only have two; one is sort of secret and the other is to live somewhere with a bit of garden. Not very spectacular, huh? But I can just taste those fresh green beans... How about you?
