Walking towards success!

I am an audio book addict! I listen to them all day long at work...until some one actually has the nerve to want me to speak and interact with them..haha.
I tend to think and talk to myself when I work out so I have a hard time listening to them then. I end up skipping back over and over.

A swim sounds wonderful...it its crazy humid and sticky here today.

Good job on the exercising ...hopefully it will rub off on me as I read your diary! lol :)

Haha, you sound like a social person :-D What kind of Audio books are you listening to? Any genre?

It has been reported in the Swedish news that we're getting a extreme heat period right now, its really humid and sticky here too. I feel "blessed" to only have the ocean a couple of 100 m from my familys house :)

Thanks, I wish you the best of luck on your own journey!

Life goals? That´s big stuf for the early morning. In fact I only have two; one is sort of secret and the other is to live somewhere with a bit of garden. Not very spectacular, huh? But I can just taste those fresh green beans... How about you?
I've got a coaching personality, talking about goals with my closest friends is almost mandatory for me :)

Oh...secrets are nice, any hints to share?

Sounds like you want to have some more nature in your life, a garden sounds great!

As for me my goals are mainly oriented around becoming a better investor as well as develop myself both mentally through education and physcially(aka getting fit).

Todays workout:
*Threadmill for 600 Kcal
*Light strenght excercise 200 Kcal

I think I pulled a muscle in my back so therefor I've replaced the rowing with more walking. It's easy to get carried away with the rowing machine... be careful with your backs!

Yep, wellknown danger, maybe you should try the elliptical again, it helps keep things flexible and thus speed up the healing process. Get well soon.

Getting fit is a fine goal, it´s on my list too but I don´t intend for it to take ten more years. And it won´t take you as long as that either. Developing oneself mentally and physically is a neverending process though... At least I think it should be! High on my list of things to learn/get better at is singing, will pluck up the courage to take lessons before the year is over.
About the garden: nothing beats nature. Except family/friends. (And so I´m honored to be treated the way you would treat your closest friends!)

Thanks, perhaps I'll have a rumble with the elliptical machine until I get better :)

Singing sounds like a great goal! It builds character! What kind of singing are you into?

Today was just a restday :)

Went to the mountains fishing with my little brother, did not catch anything but enjoyed the company :-D

Sounds like a good day, catching stuff just distracts ;)

I generally sing or whistle all day long as long as there aren´t too many people around who might mind... Anything easy enough really, but mainly folk and rockballads.

I bet that your a typical person who likes to bring other people joy and keep your friends happy at all times? You just seem to have a very nice and open character/personality :)

Today was also a restday, did not do anything typical except relaxing and watching TV with the family. We are having heavy thunderstorms in Sweden right now which makes it dangerous to go for a swim.

And since this thread has becomed my daily journal for success I will implement other goals in my updates:
*Effective study time(I want to be more diciplined with my studies)
*Awakening (Want to wake up early to become more productive)

Effective study time today: 2:45
Awakening: 08

Thank you for your kind words :) There was some pretty awesome thundering going on here in Vienna too yesterday, but this year it seems it never lasts long.
I think getting up early is very helpfull in being productive, but then I get up at six in the mornings all week long and sleeping a lot longer (say, past eight) than that during weekends just makes monday mornings harder. What are you studying for?

Your welcome :)

I've been thinking about going to Vienna next year perhaps, what do you recommend as a tourist to visit?

I truely is, humans are according to studies the most productive during the morning hours(has to do with our instinct to hunt post waking up), so by setting the alarm clock early in the morning one can have more productive hours which increases once chances of achieving their goals.

I'm a business student at Lund University, I'm interested in becoming a better investor(stocks) and therefor I study accounting to understand the financial data better. I have this summer exam in August and its good to start out early to be well prepared.

What kind of studies have you've done yourself madame?

Today I also made a change in my routine:
*Going to wake up at 06 instead of 05 and then progressivly set the time earlier and earlier, need to help my body adapt to changes and not set to extreme goals(05 is extreme right now since I've been waking up at 11 during summer break).
*The gym routine I was following is a bit to demanding and too long to work with my daily school regime when everything starts again in late August.
It will look like todays workout from now on:
*30 Min threadmill á 400 kcal. (-8 minutes)
*Light weight training á 200 kcal

All the best to everyone!

Ps. Anyone else interested in the stockmarket? :bigear:

:) I´m afraid the only money that I understand is the stuff I can touch and smell... Vienna is a nice city, has a few pretty good parks and loads of remnants from imperial times. Also Mozart. Museums, architecture (I really do like Hundertwasser)... What are your area´s of interest? I started out studying geology but had to give it up during the third semester, then I switched to healthcare, now mainly geriatrics. Other than that I just read anything and everything I can get my hands/eyes on :)

Getting up at five (voluntarily!) sounds like a masochistic thing to do, but if you go to bed in time and get enough sunlight I guess it´s doable!

Will you be changing around your routine? Doing the same thing every day when you reduce the time might lead your body to get used to/bored by the exercise and stop building muscle/burning the amount of calories it needed when you first started.

Sleep well ;)

I've been on a short vacation with a couple of friends, we had really crappy internet and that's why I have not updated you guys in a while :)

Thanks for the tips, when I was little I hated visits to old cities to look at architecture, but these days I adore it since its a mark of time and change which is fascinating. If I would win one million USD, what would be the 3 top things that you would do?

Geriatrics is a great field to be studying, there are and will always be a lot of jobs in that field since people tend to naturally grow older with time ;-)

It's easy to think like that, but there is a different perspective which a lot of people negelect, sometimes more rest equals more fatburning. How? It's because when you excercise you putting your body in a catobolic state(muscle destroying) and you need rest to put your body in a anabolic/musclebuilding/fatburning state. Excercise too much and you will actually gain weight as a result of being in a catabolic state(stressfull on the body) since your musclebuilding/fatburning muscles will be reduced.

I will reduce my excercise regime and focus more on a better diet and having adventures with family and friends on the weekends :)

As for the waking up early routine, the thing that many people will fail at is not waking up early...it's preparing to wake up early. A lot of people(including myself) tend to forget that you need to go to bed early if you are going to wake up early. I've forced myself to go to bed at 8 and then sleep before 10 to be able to wake up at 6. It's not easy when your family and friends like to stay up late, but it's a prioritiy you have to choose.

Sleep well you to! :-D

:) I didn´t mean changing back to exercising more (I know a little bit about how the body works) but whether you´d be doing different routines on different days. Variation is both healthy and good for weightloss. Apart from that I agree that time with family and friends is important! I find it hard to go to bed early when I visit my parents (I´m not very good at sleeping late) but if I don´t my body just gives up after two days and has me sleeping during daytime :p

What I´d do if you won a million dollars? Congratulate you I guess ;) What I´d do if I were the winner is simple: pay off my pension plan, buy a small house with a bit of a garden, go on a two-week holiday and otherwise keep doing what I always do (just with a bit more peace of mind and spending money every month because no more pension payments). How about you?

I reread my own post and really wonder if I was really tired when I wrote it due to all the typos :)

I agree with you LaMaria, I will be careful not to be to "nice" on my body ;-)
It's just that I'm trying to balance my weightloss goals with my life in general in the best way possible. If it means that I've got to reduce the time in the gym, then I need to compensate by eating better.

I can also admit that I've been bad at getting to bed early before, the whole student life is focused on studies and parties, which means that if you want to be a normal student and hang out with your friends then you need to stay up very late.
But my trick is to focus on how much more balanced your life will be when you get up early and have more productive hours, think about all the less stress you will experience as well as all the work you will finish. That gets me motivated at least.

Haha, I must have been super tired when I wrote the previous post, I meant of course if you would win...not me :-D
But thanks for congratulating me ;-)
Your plans for winning a million sounds nice and comfortable!

As for myself it would be a nice part to add to my portfolio and invest with. My current investments are focused on anti-cancer and anti-cold/flu treatment, a million dollar would do a good job for the scientists in the lab.

Now for the news:
I will take a break from the forum since I've not been feeling so well mentally due to private reasons, I wish all of you to keep up the good progress and will gladely check in on you guys when I feel better!
*Either you can accept that reason or the one where I'm actually a hidden super Hero who needs to go out in the world to fight the forces of evil.

Sorry to hear that hon, I hope it isn´t anything too bad and you will be back with us soon. Sending hugs in case they´re needed,

LaMaria

Thanks for the hugs, I really needed them during the strongest phase of the depression.

But Im happy to be back and I will continue to update you guys on how my fat loss journey goes :)

Weight today(evening): 105 kg

Totalt weight reduced since starting my journey 111.5-105=-6.5 kg

I actually feel proud of what I've acomplished and I thank you all for supporting me!

Next target is 99 kg on 24 December.

My daily routine will be a lot more balanced and less heavy than before and will look like the following:
*Mornings walks ~ 30 min
*Evening walks before bed ~ 30 min

I've learned quite a lot during my break from this forum and the biggest lesson is that consistency and daily habit of excercise(low or high intensity does not matter) is what contributes the most to fat loss along with a healthy diet.

And as far as gym goes I will try to hit the gym 1 time per week with full body excercises. This will leave more room for recovery which is something I've neglected in the past and suffered from.

As for my diet I will drink plenty of water prior to each meal and eat only small portions. I will avoid bread and only consume it rareliy.

I wish all of you the best of luck on your own fat loss journeys and will start mine once again tomorrow :)

Ps. And remember... "Weightloss is a marathon not a sprint"!

Everything went well today, did two walks, lowered portionsize, drank more water, had no headache at all, I'm back in the game :-D

Thanks for the cheers bro!

Did not report yesterday since I slept over at a girls place, but everything went well and I stuck to the plan.

Today I did the same, However I was really tired from only being able to sleep 2 hours this night with this new found love of mine.

Tomorrow I'll be taking the girl to the mountains and which I'm really looking forward to!

Im also sorry for perhaps keeping my updates short, it is just something that works well for me at the moment since I do not have so much time before the laptop.

All the best to you all! :-D

I've been following my routine with daily walks everyday and I'm seeing great results even though my diet is not perfect.

Today I weighed in at 103,7 kg in the evening! About -1,3 kg since last time I weighed in.

99 kg is getting closer day by day!

I will change my routine so that I try to run every second day in the evening instead of walking, I feel the need for more high intensity excercise.

Good luck to all of you!
