Congratulations on the weight loss! :D

I think I've got a buddy for you! Check in the buddy thread and let me know what you think. :D

Thanks for posting in my journal. From what I can read you are doing really well too. When I see others doing great it only serves to enspire me and other no doubt. You are doing fantastic.

First of all- thanks everyone for the support- You guys are GREAT!

So after the past two days, I have realized that I should just not be allowed to go out to restaurants yet. We went out to dinner both Monday and Tuesday evening, and while I didn't make the worst choices, I certainly didn't make the best either. Ugh! On the upside, I did take 3.5 mile walk Tuesday morning with my dog to go get breakfast for my guy... I got him chocolate chip and banana pancakes (his favorite!) and I just went home and had some cereal.

No more bad dinners for the rest of this week!, I PROMISE!

not making the worst choices is a step in the right direction...don't beat yourself up at not making the best choices... next time... you will... wow, 3.5 miles to get pancakes for someone else? that's love.. and wow i'm impressed.. I'm not sure i'd cross the street to do that :) You're awesome...

Malificent,

Well- I knew he wanted to go to this place for breakfast anyway, and if I had to sit there and see all of the delicious food, there would be no way to avoid it- So, since he was still sleeping when I woke up, I decided that I would sneak out and walk there to get his breakfast hoping it would do two things for me:
1. Get me energized and feeling good about the walk so that I wouldn't want to make a poor eating choice
2. Get me off my butt and get my day started on the right foot

I achieved both of those goals, unfortunately I didn't eat enough throughout the day- so when we got to dinner (at this really great barbecue joint that has the BEST macaroni and cheese ever) I was SO hungry. I was smart enough to order the salmon and choose black beans as one of my sides... but stupid enough to order the mac and cheese as the other side. Ugh! But it was soooooooooooooo good.

Just think, these changes won't happen overnight. So ok you didn't eat the best at dinner but you ate well at breakfast and resisted temptation, don't beat yourself up about it. It sounds like you enjoyed it so don't feel guilty, just look at it as a treat and a one off thing. Keep up the good work, i hope you are having a good day!!

Favourite is right. Don't feel bad. You might get cranky if you can't eat a few of your favorite things. I know I will. Everything in moderation....you are doing great with the walking and everything.

Hey Val,

I just read your entry in my diary. We should start a thread for people who need to get organized! We can all forget to go there and post messages :)

I could use that thread!! I swear I need to start a list to help me remember who I've posted to and you I haven't yet! ;) Hey Val! I know you know this but I will say it anway. Make sure you eat more during the day so you don't give in to cravings and stuff cause you are starving! Don't sabotage yourself! You are worth more than that and you can do this! :D

Thanks for the advice everyone- I think that maybe I need to reevaluate my eating habits during the day because it always at dinner time that I feel most tempted to screw up. I always eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast (this week is Special K)- and I always bring a low calorie lunch to work (soup, a Lean Cuisine, steamed veggies, etc.) and I usually bring a piece of fruit or two and either a 100 calorie pack or rice cakes or whatever. Regardless, when I am on my way home from work I am SOOOOO hungry; and that's when it's easiest to make poor decisions. Maybe I'll try something new tomorrow and see if it helps...

Since I tend to grab the bad stuff when I'm hungry and often rushed... because it's easy... I will have my own "snack" baggies set up with vegetables in them and i can just grab a small bag of veggies that are already cleaned and cut into snacking size... takes me five minutes at thebeginning of the week -and it's honestly saved me from snacking on other stuff.. I just want easy...

Val---just as a guess the problem could be that you aren't getting enough protein early on in the day. If you're eating cereal for breakfast and steamed veggies for lunch you're not getting enough protein before dinner.

Would adding 2 scrambled egg whites to my breakfast give me enough protein to start the day??
I understand how to eat in a healthier, low calorie way- but I'm still bad when it comes to making sure I get enough protein, calcium, etc.

I know what you mean. My poor decisions come at night too. I don't know about the protein, I don't even pay attention to it. I think I have less distractions in the evening, and more food readily available and I love to eat. I mean I ENJOY it. I'm sure getting used to purposely denying myself something that I enjoy will take time to get used to.

Adding scrambled eggs may make a big difference for you. I'd check it out. I'm not an expert, but that's a part of the principle behind the Zone stuff. If you have a lot of carbs without protein you will get hungry faster. It might be worth a shot to see what kind of effect it has on you.
