Ok, here goes.

I started seriously with the weight loss attempt a week ago today, and just today decided it was time to start writing things down. I use SparkPeople to track food, which is really a very cool site. If I had to try to track calories on my own - forget it. I know I'm too lazy to do it, but I'm on the computer a lot, so just tossing it onto a website where I can go back and look is great.

I started last week at 217 lbs, wearing a 1 or 2X in clothes. I was tired of looking like I did. I wear scrubs to work, and most people, when they found out that scale would scream when I stepped on it, didn't belive me, but scrubs hide a lot!

Old Navy had their tank tops on sale recently and I bought some, both for around the house and for under my lab coat at work. I bought them to fit in a way that I was comfortable - not too tight across the tummy so that people can't see the roll. Well, after getting to wear them all once, the hubby washed clothes. And shrank most of them. But I'm determined to get down to the point where I can wear them and they fit like they did before he helped! LOL.:p

I've told some of the people at work that I'm working on loosing this weight, and now I'm telling y'all.

So far, so good.

Forgot to put in there, I started at the gym a week ago today, and weighed in there. In the last week (weighed in today), I lost 6 pounds! I know a biiiiiiig part of that was water, and cutting back on Coke, although I'm still allowing myself 1 regular can of Coke a day, sometimes 2. But that's a big change from what I was having before.

25 minutes of cardio - 15 on the eliptical and 10 on the bike. Whew!

Ok, not very far into 12/15, but man, this has been a long night! Tonight and tomorrow are the two nights a week I do graveyard shifts at work. And tonight I'm getting my butt handed to me. They say our patient census is down (I work in a hospital), but I'm finding that hard to believe with the amount of phone calls and medications I've had to deliver.

I had a pre-prepared salad for "breakfast" - is it really breakfast when it's at 2:45am? I wrote it down as breakfast, simply because it was the first meal since midnight, but I'm not sure if it counts.

I can't wait to go home at 6:30 and get some sleep. Like normal on Thursdays, I didn't get any sleep before work, so I'm starting to drag. Working out this morning didn't help with the energy level now, I'm sure.

Oooh, I used to work a late night shift...That was horrible for me and the munchies! Great job on motivating yourself with making the salad before work! I can never bring myself to do that....lol

Great job! ...and congrats on the 6 pounds so far! :)

Actually, the salad was one I bought already done up, just had to be mixed and dressing put on, fork included. It was pretty good. And 320 calories for a "Santa Fe style Chef Ceasar" salad didn't sound too bad.

I bought a few of the Smart Ones frozen dinners to take to work with me. They were on sale at Albertson's, so I grabbed some now that we have a deep freeze that was given to us by my in-laws for Christmas (Yeah!). I'll be taking one of those with me for lunch tonight, since I'm just not motivated enough right now to cook.

I had the salad for "breakfast" at 2:24am.
Came home at 7am and went straight to bed. I was tired.
I woke up at 4:15pm and at 5 or so, had a pita pocket taco. Only 317 calories, and quite filling. It was ground beef - about an ounce and a half, 1 oz of cheddar cheese, half a pita (regular serving) and some Pace salsa I put in the blender to get rid of the chunks since I suddenly can't find my favorite brand of taco sauce anymore at the store. :(

Now that supper has had time to settle, I'm seriously thinking about going in and having a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwhich. Those things are sooo good, and only 150 calories!

According to SparkPeople, I have to reach 1310 calories for the day, and have only had 871 so far. These days where I work grave yards are hard for me to reach the right calorie count, because I usually end up with funky eating patterns these days.

I'll go work out in the morning before I come home. But tomorrow night we're going out to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday - he's such a baby. I volunteered to be the DD, so that nobody wonders why I'm not drinking as much as normal - I don't want to have to try to count those calories!

Ok, last night was the birthday party. That was interesting. Now I remember why I don't volunteer to drive very often! I did good for the first part of the day, since I slept through most of the day, but had some nachos at the bar (pretty high calorie, but they tasted soooo good LOL). I didn't eat them all, so that was good for me. I had one light beer, and water and coke after that. All in all, it worked out pretty well. I DID go over my calorie allowance for the day, but I'm not sweatin' it. It was one day, and I knew it was going to happen. Part of the reason I went to the gym yesterday morning after work! ;)

Weekends are hard for me. At least during the week, when I'm going to work, I can not take any money and force myself to only eat what I bring - cereal for breakfast and whatever I pack for lunch. But on the weekend, there's so much free time. Aaah.

Oh well. Tommorow it's back to work and back to the gym. Weigh in is Thursday.

Heya's Tux,
Wanted to stop by to wish ya luck,
and to congrats ya on losing so far, your off to a gr8 start!
Keep up the good work and I love those smart ones I have
those and lean cuisines in my freezer.Have a great night
Tammy:)

Thanks for the good thoughts, Tammy.

Today was ok. Woke up feeling pretty crappy, but after some time at work, it went away. But since I didn't trust my headache to not tell my stomach to go ahead and revolt, I just had a banana for breakfast. Then a Smart Ones dinner and a salad for lunch, and chicken and mashed potatoes and an apple for supper.

Some days are harder to work in all the calories I'm supposed to have. I'm no where near hungry, and fixin' to go to bed, and I'm still about 60 calories short of the low end of the range. Any suggestions on what to do on those days?

Hey girl.... on days when you need some extra calories but not really hungry nuts or avocado are a good calorie boost. they do have fats and oils in them but they are supposed to be good for you. easy on the avocado they are really really loaded with the calories lol.

Thanks for the suggestion Hillbilly. I'll keep that in mind. I don't really like avocado, but I could do a handful of nuts, I think.

I think I overdid the crunches yesterday. I woke up this morning and could barely move. Ugh. Shouldn't have done that last set of 10. But after 15 minutes on the eliptical and 15 minutes on the stationery bike, it sounded like a good idea. LOL. Ow.

Today is the holiday party at the hospital, so they're providing lunch. I think I remember seeing something in an email about prime rib. We'll see how that goes.

On a weird note, woke up this morning and found my car, covered in SNOW! In Las Vegas! I hate the cold. I live in the desert for a reason. And now it's snowing here?!?! Oh well. If it doesn't continue to drizzle, it'll be gone by the time I head home at 2:30pm.

Ok, so lunch actually wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. 615 calories, and that included a roll, mashed potatoes, prime rib (which really wasn't as good as it looked  ) a salad, and a regular Coke. After the 2 Reese's Cups I had this morning, and some Cheerios and FF milk, I'm up to 991 calories and need to be between 1310 and 1660. So, I can still have a good supper and not go over!

There are leftover mashed potatoes with some chicken gravy in the refrigerator, though, that are calling my name. I love mashed potatoes.:p And they're much louder than the chocolate sitting on top of the entertainment center. Now how does that work? LOL.

I should clean the house - I'm not sure when the in-laws will be here, and it needs it. And that might keep my mind off the potatoes.:p

Ok, so I ate the potatoes. LOL. I don't even feel guilty about it. They were good. And with them and an orange, I'm pleasantly full, and safely in the calorie range.

Now if I could just get the tummy muscles to quit being sore from yesterday's trip to the gym, I'd be doing good.

Went to gym for an hour yesterday (30 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes of strength training). Got a friend from work signed up, too, so now I don't have to talk to myself when I go. LOL.

Ate waaay too much for lunch yesterday - departmental christmas party. But, surprisingly, none of it was horible for me! Desert wise I managed to stick to one small piece of bundt cake, even though there were lots of chocolate things that looked really good. But we went to bed early since the hubby didn't feel good and I was tired and so I didn't go over my calorie allowance for the day. I'm rather proud of myself.

Fixin' to head to the gym for the morning, then come home and do some house cleaning. The in-laws were suppose to leave Texas to head this way this morning, and they're taking the long route, so they'll be here probably tomorrow evening or saturday morning, depending on if they decide to stop for the night twice or just once. But I've got some straightening to do before they get here, and tonight and tomorrow are my graveyard days.

Today is weigh-in day! Keep your fingers crossed!

Yee haw!!!

Went in to the gym, put my stuff in a locker, put everything else down (water, towel, walkman, keys:p ), took a deep breath and stepped on the scale. I figured it would be up a couple of pounds due to the amount of food I've eaten the last few days. So, I was prepared for that.

Stepped up there, moved the weight to the "200" mark, and the top weight was already at "15" and it thuded to the bottom. Good! I expected that - that's about what I started at! Moved it back to "11" and it still stayed down. Ok, so I lost a little. That's good. I'll take that. Moved it back a little further and it STILL stayed down! It finally balanced at 207  That's another 4 pounds down from this time last week! I almost called another person over to read it to make sure I was looking at it right!:D

It took everything in my power to control myself and not do a little happy dance around the locker room. LOL

Hey good job so far. I just started getting serious about a week ago, and have lost six pounds this first week too.

Congratulations! Maybe we can do this together! I know alot of what I've lost in this first 10 pounds is water weight, and the change from what I didn't realize was probably high sodium (love chips, even the Baked Lays!) and regular Coke. I'm not a fruit and veggie person, but I've been working on adding more of those in, too, and it seems to be helping. Of course, gettig my butt off the computer and to the gym 4 days a week is helping, too.

Can't wait to see what the scale says next week. Can't believe I just said that! I don't think I've ever said that! Even when doing Weight Watchers I didn't feel like that!:D
