Trops Diary

Tried something different this morning Trops... I ran around my block 3 times, while jumping rope!!! I probably looked like a flippin' moron, but to quote a movie used around here often " I don't give a fuuuuck"! It was a bit awkward at first, but it was definately a good workout! Well, I followed it up with 20 minutes on the heavy bag, but when I was done... I was done.

Have a good one.

Good morning and happy halloween eve!

Thanks for your words of wisdome... I have taken them to heart.

I have a question about your speed ropeing... how long did it take for you to get up to 10000? And how many did you do your first time?

Ah, I used to jump rope in college, but that was a long time ago. How many I did then I have no idea. I didn't count then. I have done it on and off over the years, but not to this extent. When I started in April I could do 2000 and I was nearly 50 pounds heavier, but I attribute that to just having really strong calf muscles. (Thanks to my Irish Grandmother. She called them potato picker calves.)

Running while jumping rope. I've thought about that, but I don't know if you get any more from it, or just end up putting out more effort with no gain in results. I will run in place from time to time to see just how fast I can get it going, though. It's really cool when you hear the thing whistling faster and faster. :D

Hi Trops!

I just wanted to say that if I ever make it to NY, I will jump rope with you, and you should go running with me. We could both be each other's drill Sargent :biggrinjester:

You come to NY and we will definitely meet up. One of these days I know I'll be heading back out to CA.

One of my friends at work tole me yesterday that I'm inspiring him to start running. He was asking if I every thought about a marathon. :ack2: Um... I think I'd like to do a half before I even think about a full. There is a good half marathon in May that I will probably do. Of course if I get to that point, I might as well train for a full. Wouldn't that be funny? My first race ever and it's a marathon? Maybe that's getting a bit ahead of myself. I still have to run more then 6.5 miles. :D

Well, remember, I had never really ran more than 8 or 9 or 10 (I never found out!) miles before my halfie, and I did just fine. But then, a normal run for me is almost always about 4-6 miles, or about 35-55 minutes, unless I'm shooting for an hour and a half in the forest. Just as long as you do what I did after your first long race--lay down and ice your knees for the rest of the day, drink champagne and eat cookies :D

Yeah, I think I can do it with just a little more training. Of course that's in 6 months, so if I can keep up the running over the winter that will be a huge difference.

Nah, it snows around here but not all that much. The Gulf Stream keeps it warm enough around the coast.

BAD ASS!!! Make fun of that guy for jumpin' rope!!! That's the physique I am after... what a long road to go!!!!!! My goal... that body in 3 years!!!

That's what I look like, except that I'm fat with long hair. :D

Actually that is about how I jump, but I don't do the double cross overs yet. I'll have to give it a try.

Me too, but with short red hair!! :D

I do the sprint style to jump, but mine is more a jog right now! I want to learn all of those. Frickin' phenominal. Boxers/fighters are hella in shape!

DAMN, really? :eek2: That's some MAD SKILLZ!!!!!!! :willy_nilly:

Well, we all have to be good at something, right?

I saw a movie recently called "The Hammer" with Adam Corolla as an over the hill boxer. He's jumping rope and listening to tunes and kind of flirting with this girl he likes. The music is playing and he's showing off and then it cuts to what she sees, which is him jumping around like an idiot because she can't hear the music. Then it goes back and forth. So frikin funny. I looked for it on Youtube, but didn't see it.

I think you might have to take a cold shower there, Bunny. :willy_nilly: Work is going to get dangerous for everyone pretty soon. :biggrinjester:
