Trops Diary

I was attacked repeatedly by cinnamon rolls. I won most of the battles, but there were a couple that got by.

Hey Trops! Nice job on the running! Especially considering this morning you didn't want to do it AND you had all the chores to get done, you did great! I would STILL be telling myself, "I'll go later..." :hurray:

I still have half the lawn to mow and dinner to make and homework to oversee and shopping to do. Then I leave for work at 10. Starting Midnight shift tonight. That's always been my toughie for weight loss. Let the self flagellation begin :banghead:

Welcome to my world... I've been doing third shift for 21 years...

I only have the midnight shit for 6 days, and this week I took off the first and last, so it's only four days. The good thing is that there really is nothing going on, so it's really eazy, but it really screws up my routine.

So, I went running again today. My ipod shuffle died last week, and I don't know why. I've been using my mini, but I prefer the shuffle. Today I plugged in the shuffle and low and behold, it worked. Don't know why, but I'll take it. I pushed through the 2.7 mile mark and kept going. I'd like to say that I made it the full second loop, but I stopped at what I thought was the 5 mile mark, but when I thought about it later, I was just shy. Oh, well. Next time. I'm just glad to have done that. Nearly 5 miles. My speed wasn't what I wanted, but with wind and hills it was just over the 9 min mile mark. I'd like to get that down to at least 8.5, but take what you have, right?

Great job on the run Trops. Glad to hear your shuffle is alive and working for ya again. Hope the midnight shift isn't too hard on you this week ;)

-Sam

Thanks, Sammy. I'm glad, too. It was a free shuffle, so you can't complain, but I think I'd want to replace it if it was dead for good. Although I'd probably get a nano if I did replace, so that I could get a Nike +.

One thing I didn't mention was last night I went to my friends cigar lounge. I don't smoke often, a pipe here or cigar there. Once a week would be a lot for me. Usually once or twice a month is more like it. What a relaxing time. Sit for a couple hours smoking a cigar, or last night a pipe, and shooting the shit with friend. It's too bad that people get addicted to tobacco. It can be such a great social drug. Great relaxing atmosphere, lively conversation, and no worry about driving home intoxicated. :sifone:

I stay away from hookah for that exact reason--it can be addicting. In 2003 or so I was bashing the hookah until one night my ex ex boyfriend and I were at a party, and the hookah stone smoke actually smelled really good. Raspberry or some shit. I tried it, liked it, and ended up smoking hookah for an hour :( Ever since then I avoid it completely.

Nice work on the run!!! 44 minutes or so of running for a person 204 pounds (or whatever you are lately) is 790 calories burned! At a 9 minute mile pace--nice! :D

You want to determine pace, use the pace calculator and fill in the 2 variables you DO know to find the one you don't--->Pace Calculator | Enter Distance & Time to Calculate Your Pace | Active.com

And "Am I Fat?" has an awful name, but its exercise calorie counter is awesome--has a bunch of activities, just enter your weight and the time you did the exercise/activity--->Am I Fat? Discover the ins and outs of your body weight.

And don't forget this website--solid gold!---->The World's Healthiest Foods

I went running again today. I did the full 5.4 miles. Not too bad. 50 min, 30 sec. According to the calculator that Val showed me that's 900 cal burned. Damn! Not too bad since I'm going camping this weekend and won't be doing any real exercise and food and drink will be aplenty. Monday will probably be a poor weigh in, but next week I'm on evening shift and that's my big week. :smash:

Nice job, Trops. That's sweet. I've been on the shelf since my run. I thought I was all healed up after a couple days when the knee pain went away but as it was going away the shin pain started and it's still going strong. I can't walk/run on it, nor stand on it for any appreciable length of time. So I've not done *anything* in almost two weeks now and I'm going ballistic. Keep up the running for me, man.
