Trops Diary

With all this talk of "sausage stuffing".... I thought I was in Bunny's diary!!! :D :D

Oh, there were plenty of lewd jokes. With sausage stuffing the girth is more important then the length. It's gotta be tight. Natural casings are not good for condoms. Lots to learn.

Damn. You beat me to the punch ;)

My favorite sausage is venison. My butcher uses natural casings because I won't eat sausage made out of anything else. If it isn't natural, I just peel it off the meat. Even in a restaurant. Yeah ... I'm picky ;)

And congrats on the run!!!

Yesterday I worked a double shift, day shift and evening shift. It was a somewhat stressful day because of some things that I'm not going to get into, but basically I'm very disappointed in the selfishness and pettiness of some of my coworkers. Not on my own behalf, but on the behalf of a friend. That shit really gets to me.

I was hoping to get a run in on my lunch, but that didn't happen mostly because of the snow storm we got. I wonder if the weather was good if I would have run anyway. :(

Today I'm feeling better about things. Not because they are better, but because I'm more resigned to it. Luckily I'm off today, so I should be able to get some stuff done at home and certainly get to the gym. :smash:

Hey Trops... I can only assume to know what you are talking about, but I bet it has to do with people not wanting to give up a LITTLE for themselves to help someone ALOT!!! Just know that things have a way of working out, even if it takes a while, and we can't see the reasons directly. Speaking of working out... hope you get a good run in, or maybe a weight session to blow off some steam! Have GOOD ones bud!!! :smash: :smash:

It's more annoying then that. It's people not giving up anything, but yet not allowing another guy to get a raise he deserves. The guy is doing the job already, but they don't want him to get paid a higher salary then them, so they are able to squash it. Truly petty. I think it shows a window into their character, and it's not good in there. It's disappointing.

TYPICAL MOB RULE!!! WTF ever happened to personal responsibility, and rewarding people who EARN distinction?? Merit raises.... over rated!!! Who needs that crap?? Sorry for the rant in YOUR diary, but that pisses me off too!! Don't people beleive that you get out of something what you put into it?? CRAZY! Well anyways, get in a great workout and vent some frustrations!!

The thing is that we are all in a union, and management has agreed to give this guy a promotion for the work he's been doing for the last five years. It's to a position that was eliminated five years ago, but it would have to be ratified by his coworkers. The vote is 50/50, so it's probably a no go. The guys voting against him have been working with him for 20 years. He's been doing them favors and all kinds of extras for nothing for himself, and this is how they repay him.

The other thing is that there are a few of us who started here 5 years ago. They are making it an Us vs. Them thing. The new guys vs. the old guys. It's ridiculous. We're all doing the same job. (well, some of us are able to do more physical work, so that means that the old guys don't do that.)

I just got the word from work that one of the swing votes went the way I wanted, so the guy is going to get the promotion. :hurray: It's such a relief, which is funny because it means nothing to me financially. I'm just glad to see that someone had the balls to do the right thing.

Some people really make me angry. I'm glad that things turned out well, but it would have been nice is they started off seeming that way :)

I'm really glad things turned out at your work. Nothing like job stress from dealing with the pettiness of co-workers. I see that alot in my job because I work in a group home with girls who are disabled and some of my co-workers are only there for a paycheck and all about themselves. Really gets to me sometimes because I'm there because I care about the girls or I'd have been gone a long time ago. It just bugs me how there's alot of people out there who will not only not lift a finger to help somebody else but like you said, will go out of their way to cause harm. Seems like this attitude is spreading in society these days and it's sad. But wow do we have alot of GOOD people like you in this forum. Wonder how that happened :)

You are a warm hearted person and wise, at that. AND a Wise Guy, too :biggrinjester: Glad for your co-worker--maybe your cosmic energy helped the outcome? Hope you have a great workout! Take care :hug2:

Isn't that the way most unions work?

We don't have a lot of unions here. We're too capitalistic and right wing I think. The trades have them, contracting, etc. but for the most part, we're anti-union, mostly because the best person for the job doesn't always get it in unions. My understanding of unions is it's all about seniority and whether or not the useless people who have been there for a bazillion years like you.

I have some mixed feelings on the whole union thing. I've worked non union and in those jobs you always had the risk of being fired at any time for no reason. I stopped getting raises and promotions because I didn't play golf with the boss. He was shocked that I said no to him, so my career there went down the tubes. I think if I hadn't left I would have been fired at some point.

The union walks a fine line between keeping membership up, but still making money for the company. It really has to be a win/win for the union to be worth it.

That being said, there are different pay scales for different jobs, and the higher the pay scale the better it is for everyone. I think that the thing that got to me most was that the most senior guys had first dibs on the new position. They didn't want it, but they still voted not to let a less senior guy get it. It's beyond stupid.

Anyway, I'm past it now. On to the good stuff.

I ate well yesterday and got a good lift and dreadmill in, so things are looking up. Unfortunately I'm starting my midnight shift tonight, so I'm sure to have a gain for the week. All I can do is keep chugging along.
