Trops Diary

I'll remember that it is the little Slim Jim that isn't too bad. I really don't eat them ever, or even beef jerky for that matter...

Hey, I forgot to mention. I weighed in this morning at 203.2. A new low. I don't imagine that I'll still be there tomorrow morning, but we'll see. This gives me one week before October to lose 3.2 pounds. Think I can do it? I do! :smash:

 Yee haw!!!!!

I think so too!!!!

So I'm at work now. I didn't exercise before work because I was catching up on well needed sleep most of the morning. I got up around 1 and went for a walk with my wife. We keep looking for a different place to walk each day. So far it's worked out well. Monday we walked trhough the woods near our house. Tuesday we walked down to the beach, along the beach and got a bit lost taking a "short cut" through the woods back. Today we walked along the railroad tracks. It's been so nice. She usually doesn't get that much time off during the day, but this week is an exception. Me working the evening shift means that I'm pretty much ready to go. Very nice, indeed.

When I got to work I was pretty hungry. I made up a big thing of quinoa and an onion and two baby zucchinis sauteed. I made a full cup of quinoa, so I have half of that saved for tomorrow. The plate was heaped with food, but I think the total was somewhere around 400 cal give or take. I had 4 of the little slim Jims that I mentioned before. (80 cal for that, but 12g of protein and only 4g of fat.) I figured that I'd want something later, but now I'm not so sure. That might be it for the night.

I jumped rope tonight, too. 7000 jumps in 48 min 27 sec. Just over 144 jumps per min. That's pretty good. I'm happy with that.

I jumped on the scale after my workout. Now, I know that I'd sweated out a lot, but the scale read 201.5. I've probably drank a couple pounds of water since then, but I'm still happy about it.

Real good numbers Trops. Getting under 2 before the end of September seems like a pretty realistic goal.

Pretty cool that you and your wife have good places to walk together. It's nice be able to spend time with your SO during the week isn't it?

I just found out something. Slim Jims, the little ones (.25 oz.), are 20 cal, 1g of fat and 3g of protein. Of course there is loads of sodium (110 I think) but not a bad high protein low cal snack. :hurray:

Is it just me, or do Slim Jims not chew up all the way?

Seems like I always end up with a ball of cud in my mouth, or whatever you want to call it, when I chew on those. I end up spitting out the ball of wrapper around the meat I guess. lol

I have those little guys in my cabinet. They are tasty.

You can do it!! Work it Trops!

I was at the gas station today on my way in to work and thought, "Hey, I should pick up a slim jim." I went in and the bigger ones have the nutritional data on the wrapper. Well, the one that is .97 oz would be the same in weight to four of the little guys, but this wrapper said that it was 150 cal, 13g of fat, and 10g of protein. Not nearly as good as the other ones. I grabbed some beef jerkey cubes instead. The whole bag is 250 cal, but 3.5g of fat and 35g of protein. I ate some on the way in and figure I'll eat the rest after I run. Kind of a reward for a good run.

I ate some on the way in to work this afternoon, and they were so good. Super salty, but a nice little punch of flavor. Then tonight I went running and thought that a nice protein cube would go down well, and you know what? It was basically flavorless. Who knew that exercise actually inhibits your ability to taste things.

I don't think so, but it might also be because I chew gum when I run. It keeps my mouth from getting real dry.

Speaking of running. Tonight I did 5k and got a PB of 26 min and 12 sec. It's just 6 sec faster then my previous PB, but it was pretty windy today, so I was fighting that. I was glad to be back there. :sifone:

Congrats on your personal best Trops. Interesting that you chew gum while your run... I always have to have a water bottle near me or within distance. I can't handle a dry mouth while I'm running. It's just too nasty for me.

Good job on the run!

I agree on the dry mouth thing, I hate it when I'm cycling too.

Way to go on the PB man. I sure hope running gets easier in a hurry. I ran, jogged and walked actually, three mile this morning in double your PB!! Do you like running? Or do you like the feeling after you have run?

Hmm... I'm not hating it as much as I did when I started. I don't like it, but it's doing wonders for my weight loss, so that much I do like. I don't even like it after, which so many people do.

I'm also getting anxiety about my times. Every time out I want to do my best, but that doesn't always happen. Then I'm upset with myself. Also, by getting a PB that makes it that much harder to surpass that.

I'm thinking that with the next 10 pounds lost it will make a big difference. Not just in the less weight to push around, but also in the training that it will take to get there. I am feeling confident that I can run 3 miles no problem. That's something that I really never could do.

Well, glad you got there--if ya keep trying at something, you can get there--never say never and all that junk. Too bad you're not addicted to the running.........yet

I was hoping to jump rope tonight, but I just didn't feel like it. Should take a day off from time to time. I really should have hit the gym before work, but that doesn't always happen.

I went to Trader Joe's today. The nearest one is 25 miles away, so I don't usually go unless I'm already in the area. Then I stock up. I stocked up on some good stuff today. I got some chipolte chicken sausage which is real hot. I just had one. Oh, they had this variety pack of mushrooms. Man, are they good. Oyster mushrooms are my new favorite. They also had a mixed grain thingy that I made. Usually I'll make up a pot and eat half. I saw that the serving size was 1/5th. Hmm. I guess time to go light on that. I also got some Greek yogurt. I love that stuff. Just a drizzle of honey or jam and it's so smooth. :drool5:

Problem is that with not working out or runnning or jumping rope tonight, I really shouldn't be eating as much as I have. I didn't go hog wild, but I'm still jonesing for a little something. I know that tomorrow the scale is going to be up, but that will be fine. I'll jump rope tomorrow and the scale will do what it will.

One funny thing that is hapening is that I'm noticing a big difference in the way my body looks. I really think this last ten pounds is going to make a huge difference. I can't wait to really be at goal for once in my life. That will be something. Hopefully it will be something soon. :hat:
