Tomble's Weight Loss Journal! I welcome your opinions!

I have returned! Woo!

Hey all,

I am back! No, I didn't get hit by a meteorite or abducted by aliens, I just haven't been around my computer much.

So, what's new with me? Extra weight, that's what! :)

I've put on some weight, but I'm not at all unhappy. From Christmas until my return to work yesterday, I said `I'm off work, I'm relaxing and enjoying myself, I will let myself eat whatever takes my fancy.'. And I did, lots of nice christmas food, some sugary foods, snacks I had wanted for a while, and pretty much whatever I wanted. End result? I put on about 3 kilos (6.6lb), but it's not so bad. Some of that will drop away quickly, the rest of it I will work off as I did before.

It's the weight that sticks to you when you thought you were doing okay that is upsetting. I just accepted that I was choosing to gain a bit, and I could go back to regular eating once my work routine was back in place.

Notice I said `regular eating', not dieting? Yep, me too. I was pleased when I realised I was thinking of my healthy eating plan as being normal.

So, still feeling good, super busy at work now. I promise I will read and respond to lots of diaries during the week, when I have a little more time. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great new year. Thanks to everyone who posted in here!

Oh, I went for another super walk, as is becoming my habit early in the year. I'm not much of a drinker, so I woke up early on New Year's day feeling fine. Got prepared and went for an 8 hour walk, leaving at 8:30 am. It was great - perfect weather, good stuff to listen to, a nice rest break in the middle. The only thing was that around 3 hours in I managed to hurt my foot, but it never got so bad that I was incapacitated.

Better yet, apart from the foot pain my legs didn't really suffer afterwards. A few years ago I did a 10 hour walk and the pain was awful the next few days. This time, nothing much, just that well used muscle feeling.

So, I'll be round here a lot more from now on, getting back into the swing of it. This year is when I will make my real goal, last year proved to me that it was truly possible.

Great to hear from you again!! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your walking and other achievements. Is your foot better now?

Well, nice to see you are at the usual great mood, being an inspiration to us all, and making our feet suffer from phantom pains hearing about all your walking:) Well, have a nice day today:)

Hey all! I've returned again ! HAha.

Lost some weight, getting back to my lowest weight that I hit last year.

Work has been absolutely crazy - I run a business that supplies schools and also supplies school suppliers (say that five times fast!) and it's just been frantic. I worked 13+ hour days all this week and most of last week, and also the weekend, and that work is all on foot, moving things, making stuff, packing, carrying etc. Net result, I lost 3kg in just over a week. Whoa. Not necessarily good, but it's got me on track!

My feet have recovered - I posted that I had some foot pain when I went for my long walk. It actually was bad enough that I stopped walking for a few weeks while it recovered. Did a little strength training, but haven't exercised enough. It's feeling good again though, so next week I start walking to work again, which I love to do. Yay!

Hi Tomble! Nice that your work is letting you make a post! Good that you're on your way back to the pavements again too. :)

I have been slack! Not enough exercise, too much food. Lots of work though, so that burns calories.

If it's not sunny and blazingly hot tonight I will walk home from work, it's just been unpleasant with the heat.

You know Tomble,
I've found complaining about the heat gets ya into trouble around this forum ;)

Be careful with that!
:D

From another warm weather walker - I get it about some temperatures making walking impractical. Some of my other Melbourne friends have taken over from the Perth ones as the major weather complainants the last few days. My dog has given up on walking with me twice lately- she still likes going - but she doesn't have much stamina if I get the time of day wrong! :)
