I have returned! Woo!
Hey all,
I am back! No, I didn't get hit by a meteorite or abducted by aliens, I just haven't been around my computer much.
So, what's new with me? Extra weight, that's what!
I've put on some weight, but I'm not at all unhappy. From Christmas until my return to work yesterday, I said `I'm off work, I'm relaxing and enjoying myself, I will let myself eat whatever takes my fancy.'. And I did, lots of nice christmas food, some sugary foods, snacks I had wanted for a while, and pretty much whatever I wanted. End result? I put on about 3 kilos (6.6lb), but it's not so bad. Some of that will drop away quickly, the rest of it I will work off as I did before.
It's the weight that sticks to you when you thought you were doing okay that is upsetting. I just accepted that I was choosing to gain a bit, and I could go back to regular eating once my work routine was back in place.
Notice I said `regular eating', not dieting? Yep, me too. I was pleased when I realised I was thinking of my healthy eating plan as being normal.
So, still feeling good, super busy at work now. I promise I will read and respond to lots of diaries during the week, when I have a little more time. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great new year. Thanks to everyone who posted in here!
Oh, I went for another super walk, as is becoming my habit early in the year. I'm not much of a drinker, so I woke up early on New Year's day feeling fine. Got prepared and went for an 8 hour walk, leaving at 8:30 am. It was great - perfect weather, good stuff to listen to, a nice rest break in the middle. The only thing was that around 3 hours in I managed to hurt my foot, but it never got so bad that I was incapacitated.
Better yet, apart from the foot pain my legs didn't really suffer afterwards. A few years ago I did a 10 hour walk and the pain was awful the next few days. This time, nothing much, just that well used muscle feeling.
So, I'll be round here a lot more from now on, getting back into the swing of it. This year is when I will make my real goal, last year proved to me that it was truly possible.
