Time to lose weight!

Started my diet yesterday. My goal is to lose 10kg. I'm going to try and keep under 2000kcal a day and keep up my exercise. I am a vegetarian, not a vegan though. Recovered from starvation (was unable to eat for several months due to a jaw injury) a bit too well, metabolism has returned to normal finally. Have noticed that if I eat in the morning I just don't stop, so for me not eating much before 12 helps. Eat too much when I feel nervous about going somewhere I have noticed. Going to try more meditation, writing, talking. Hoping to lose 3-4kg in a month or 2. I've been losing and gaining the same 2kg this whole year! Time to break the spell and really make the effort to get back to a healthy weight.
 
Welcome to the forum Charlotte. When you say you can't stop eating if you have breakfast, are your breakfasts normally cereal? 10kg should be doable. 2000 calories for me, would be over maintenance. A lot of us eat when we're emotional. It's good to eat mindfully. All the best & welcome once again. Cheers, Cate
 
Normally fruit or toast for brekky, yoghurt sometimes. Then I would end up lunching early or twice, so no brekky for me! Much later brekky at least. The only way I know that works for me is having breakfast around 11 or 12. Anything under 2000 should work, I'm tall and exercise a lot and have been eating a lot more than that! Day 2 and it's 9am, pretty hungry.
 
One thing I have learned is not everything works the same for everybody, but moral support never goes astray. Cleaning is exercise too, but walks are much nicer. I don't exercise enough to eat much, except for golf days & then I exercise way too much......because I'm not that good at it :blush5:
 
Thanks Cate :) I like to walk along walking trails or along the beach, a golf course would be scenic too. That way it's more of an adventure. Wouldn't mind hiking or climbing or anything like that.
 
Welcome! I don't think skipping breakfast is the best idea, as you may overeat later in the day if you are feeling hungry.
 
Maybe, I think just a late brekky. If I eat too early, more likely to mess up. I don't eat anything after dinner so night is safe. Today is day 3 and I've eaten a bit too much, have done over 3 hours walking so maybe it'll even out. Hope so! I'm tired. Bread and savoury yums are getting in my way :/
 
Trying to find some motivation. All I have for motivation is some of my beautiful smaller clothes will fit again when I've lost a bit of weight. Also I won't have any trouble wearing my fave t-shirts or bathers. In the meantime I'm wearing boring sporty things and just anything to keep warm. I have a couple of nice things to wear going out. Don't go out much these days, I would like to look a bit better though.
 
Okay, today may be a write- off :/ Got my period, need chocolate, and I'll get back on the wagon tomorrow. Too moody and in pain to deal with anything, this may have been avoidable with painkillers!
 
Now I have a belly full of nutella, actually feel content. Think I'm full of water too so although I ate a bit much, it probably won't matter. Not enough to gain weight, enough to stop me losing weight, this is why I'm not getting anywhere :/ Can't really do much more exercise, so I will have to eat a bit less. Still I'd rather munch chocolate once a month than end in jail. I was a raging mess before. Now I'm sleepy, really sleepy.
 
Have been okay, doing much better with exercise and still eating too much in the morning. Maybe if I ate dinner later I wouldn't be so hungry in the morning? I just go to bed early and wake up early most days. Cooking some veggies now. Found some vegan snack bars that are low cal and yummy, good for on the run. Weight was still the same yesterday, will check again in 2 days. Hope I'll take this seriously. I really do want to go back to my usual size. I may be only one size bigger but I want my shape back and my pretty clothes :) I see my body as still recovering from medical stuff. First I had to put weight on and now I have to lose some. Have to learn not to just eat whatever I feel like otherwise I'll get sick. Jeez I'd probably live off cake frosting and pizza if I could :/ Oddly cookies is what I was eating when I put too much weight on and I don't even like cookies or biscuits. The whole bakery dessert section of the supermarket when they mark stuff down at the end of the day. Avoid!

I don't see that waking up hungry is a bad thing, Charlotte. The main thing is eating right in the morning. Have faith in yourself. You will get back down to the size you want to be. If you really set your mind to do it, it would go just like this-pft! xoxo
 
Haha, yep Nutella is evil stuff. Tomorrow is a new day. Seems I eat not enough one day then too much the next day. Have to establish some kind of pattern. Will go for a hike tomorrow if the weather is alright. Should stock up on more veggies mid week. Seem to go better on meals and no snacks. Snacks seem to be a big weakness. Going to go through the cupboard and see what's there and what I need. There's tins of legumes being ignored. Will go for a quick walk in the evening.
 
First weigh-in, more of a beginning weight, half a kilo down from last time I weighed myself. Going to get this half a kilo off first and then the other 9. And that will be 10 hahahaha ( Count from Sesame St.). I don't like odd numbers and half numbers much. Be really happy to get this half kilo gone in a week. Surprised I've lost any weight at all, been eating over 2000 calories most days. I guess really am burning a lot of calories through exercise, going to keep that up :) If I eat just a bit less the weight will go quicker. Cupboard is full of beans :/ I don't like beans :/ Going to get more broccoli and potatoes, brussel sprouts, capsicum, carrots, tomatoes, onion. I don't know how to cook mushrooms, needs garlic I think, don't want to scare any vampires away. Need soups and hot foods as it's going to be winter soon.
 
I sometimes say "Hurry up" just like the Count :D Mushrooms are beautiful oven-baked with just a little olive oil, salt & pepper, as are so many other vegetables, like Zucchini, carrots, pumpkin, potatoes, tomatoes.....Sit them on baking paper, which saves lots of washing up, xoxo

Yesterday I ate pretty healthy but I didn't enjoy the food much. Think I need some new flavours. Don't have much $$$ so I think it's going to be a things on toast kind of week. Will try to get in more veggies because they are so filling! Drink more water too. The thing is to avoid snacks ;/ A box of pizza shapes is not dinner. I love capsicum, they're really expensive :/ I'll get a couple, they'll get eaten. There isn't anything here to pig out on. It's early in the morning, I think today will be okay. Have a few things to do. A bit worried about something, just organizing things, oh yep have to look something up. Train timetables.
