GGH, AWESOME!!! You're on a roll, sir. SOOOOOOOO excited for you. Must be all those rooms....:p

Jokes aside, this is such a great news. Go go go GGH!

shrooms..... and thanks Amber..
Well this day is not a good one at all. Got some serious personal issues going on and I can't clear my head. I don't know if going to the gym is going to help either. I'm afraid my mind will be thinking of other things and not on the workout, but I really should go. I just don't think I'm going to enjoy it much with what is all on my mind....

Just as expected, I went to the gym and started my workout with my usual 30 min run. But I couldn't get my head where it needed to be. It was so bad that it took me over 12 min just to run the first mile. By the time I got to almost 20 min into my run I just couldn't get into it so I stopped and decided to call it a day. It just wasn't working for me.
I have a feeling this whole week is not going to be a good one at all. Luckily I go on vacation next week so hopefully I will get myself right by the time I get back.
Still going to get to the gym each day minus Thursday and Friday due to my daughter's college graduation on Thursday and having to get things done at the house on Friday before we leave for vacation on Saturday morning.

Congrats on your daughter's graduation!

I'm an Illinois native myself (Chicago) though I've never really been in your neck of the woods.

Just write this day off as one of those weird days when your motivation level is low. Dust yourself off that energy tomorrow and start again. You can do it. Sending you positive energy and virtual-hugs. It'll all work out.

Congratulations on your daughter's graduation. You must be a proud proud papa.

Ok back to reality........
Sorry for the 3 week absence. Been quite overwhelmed with a lot of stuff. To include a week vacation in Nashville.
So I'm back on track again. I'll be hitting the gym and dropping pounds as of tonight

So happy you're back, GGH. We've missed you.

Another week, another few lbs down. Stay positive. Cheering you on from the other side of the world.

Nashville! My husband as always wanted to go to the Grand Ol Oprey (Have I spelt that right?) I spent a night in Nashville before we got married and quite frankly, after just 1 night, if I ever hear country music again it will be too soon

We had a great time in Nashville. Spent several nights on the strip, got to watch the taping of the new Bud Light commercial which I think we will be in cause they recorded the people standing on the sidewalks and one of the cameras was right next to us recording the crowd, and also got to see Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert shooting their new video. They were shooting in Printer's Ally which was right behind our hotel. On our last night there we went to the Grand Ol' Opry. That was pretty cool also.

Ok, anyways back to reality.

I have a question for you all... If you were in the gym and see a person with Poison Ivy working out, what would you do? Or if you had Poison Ivy, would you go to the gym? My answer would be a big NOOO I wouldn't go to the gym. Would most likely get asked to leave by the Management. So with that yea I got a nice rash on my legs of poison ivy so I figured it best not to go to the gym last night. Mainly due to the fact that I didn't have any sweat pants with me. So instead I went home and went for a 3 mile run.

But for tonight I did bring sweat pants to wear as so I can get a workout in at the gym and so nobody will know and won't have to worry about being exposed. Good thing is I won't be working out on any machines. Tonight is BodyStep class, and with the fact that I haven't worked out in 3 weeks I am sooooo going to pay for it. fun fun..... Bring on the pain.. lol

Oh your Nashville trip sounds lovely, Grey Ghost. I've never been to Nashville, but I hear it's lovely. And reading about your trip makes me feel like I'm missing out. Must make that trip soon.

Sorry to hear about poison ivy. That must be painful. Hope you feel better. I'd avoid the gym too if I had it. Glad you went for a run- did you run through the woods? Let us know what it was like to run after three weeks. I've read that it is good to take breaks once in a while- for plateau, and you tend to have a stronger comeback. Let us know what your experience was like.

Running through the woods is awesome, but I didn't do that this time. I kept to the country roads. It is so much more peaceful when running out in the country or through the woods. Its just you and nature. No cars, no kids, no hustle and bustle of the city.

So anyways last night I got back into the gym and attended my weekly Les Mills BodyStep class. It was a great workout, kick my fat but that's for sure.

Tonight will be 30 min run and weights. My only problem right now is that I'm fighting an allergy cold and have been coughing up a storm. It all seems to be coming from my throat. Hoping with my run tonight it will help break it lose so I can get over it.

Went to the gym last night and decided weights was not on the agenda. Just not feeling the best in the world right now to lift. So instead I ran for 30 min and then did the elliptical for 30 min. I figured maybe an intense cardio workout will help with clearing out this cold. I know one thing I sweated my ass off in that hour.

Gym night was painful. Did the Les Mills BodyAttack. All I can think of during the whole class was how can she (the trainer) be smiling and laughing the whole time of the class. This chick has got to be on something. lol. I'm serious this lady is just going at it for the whole hour none stop and smiling the whole time, while everyone who takes the class are about to keel over in exhaustion and sweat she is just going at it like nothing.

Like I said before she has got to be the spawn of the devil to maintain that level for the whole hour.

I can't decide if I hate her or love her...lol

Well either way I'm not giving up. I'll be there again next week and the weeks following. Cause let me tell you she really puts me through a workout from hell and I feel it every week I'm there

RE poison ivy. The gym is definitely a no no. I didn't know what poison ivy was on my first visit to the US. Then I sat in some in Hartford.... I know what it is now!:cuss:

Hi GreyGhost. I am new to this forum (just joined yesterday) and have been reading several people's threads just for fun. I laughed at your comment about the trainer and how she was smiling and laughing during the whole class. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks about that. I go to a Step class every Monday morning and the instructor is fabulous. She is so upbeat and happy, I just don't get how she can maintain that while working out. I know she does it for a living so she is in excellent shape but it is hilarious to hear her singing along with the music, cracking jokes, and smiling away while the rest of us are huffing and puffing!

nice tips Grey... I am going to add something on your daily exercise routine.

1. Walk ups and down stairs daily (really painful)
2. After dinner go for a walk for almost 30 minutes daily (Walk with long steps ... don't run)

@Dumpy - Yea it is no fun getting it. I've had it several times in my life. You would think I'd learn by now to stay away from it. But being an outdoorsman that I am I tend to get to focused on the outdoors and less on stay out of the ivy..lol

@kakes2 - Yea she is a trip. lol. Also, thanks for posting on my diary. I'll come check yours out and post up. Also, Welcome to WLF.

@LexiMartin - thanks for the tips. I used to walk the stairs here to get to my office everyday. Haven't in a while thou. I know what you mean by the pain. It will get ya..... As for the after dinner walks, I actually do that. I just haven't posted up about it. I workout after work and when I get home from the gym the wife and I go for a 2-3 mile walk each night after dinner. Pretty intense too cause we live out in the country and all the country roads around us have some pretty good hills to walk. Well thanks for posting. I'll come by your diary if you have one and check you out. Welcome to WLF..

Ok So I've came up with a little something to help keep me motivated in working out and my weight loss. I'm going to post up a motivational quote each week that inspires me to keep pushing. I don't know where or who most of these quotes come from so I do not take any credit for them. There just quotes that I have heard over time that really catch my attention.

So for this week my first motivational quote is:

When you fall, look up, get up, but never give up

Well I hope you all have a enjoyable and productive week. See you all in the trenches....

So I'm sitting here at work going at it doing what I do and a rush came over my body. A major rush of wanting to push to the limit. All I can think about is getting to the gym and working out. I don't know why but I am super excited about working out tonight. Its going to be a good night and hopefully it last a long long time.
My goal this week will be to ignore the pain and push through until my body can't push no more.
Don't get me wrong I'm not talking about the pain of injury. I'm talking about the pain that your brain says you've done enough. I'm going to ignore my brain and listen to my body. Even thou my mind may be saying you've done enough, I'm going to keep pushing until my body say I can't push one more rep.
