The mind is the enemy

Q, I don't even want to think about running in the nineties.... The seventies were bad enough! But our hot weather comes and goes, thankfully.

I "splurged" on pre-chopped fresh fruit both Friday (pineapple) and yesterday (pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew). Pineapple and watermelon are the best, and I love having it to snack on at work. I have to constantly remind myself that I spend stupid amounts of money on booze and that a few bucks on healthy food shouldn't seem like a bad thing.

And since I posted about buying fruit, I should probably also mention I drank a lot of red wine last night, and made zucchini muffins. But I did run two miles this morning, and have a run with my co-workers planned for tomorrow.

(I'm glad I proofread because originally this said I had a tub with my co-workers planned. We're close but we're not THAT close.)

:D Yay for tubs! I do the fruit thing too: not want to spend €2 on fresh raspberries but spending €3 on the same amount of chocolate without even thinking about it. Stupid brain...

Seriously, LaMa, our brains are crazy! I ate the heck out of that pineapple. It saved me when the Asian noodle salad the G man made for dinner was too spicy. Makes me wonder why I don't have fruit with every meal.

Ordered a few pairs of work pants online.... Got ambitious and ordered my current size plus one size smaller (which I was fitting into consistently last year). Turns out the current size ones are a bit too tight at the moment, grrr. The style is a little more focused on stretch, which is not what I look for in my office wardrobe.

I like running. I like my co-workers. My co-workers don't like running. This sometimes means I don't like running with my co-workers. They ask me to start a weekly group run and then when I do, I get to hear complaints about how much they don't want to do it. But then we do. And they thank me. And they tell me how happy they are that I 'made' them do it. So see you next week, co-workers. Whether you want to or not.

I tried to find pics of 70s and 90s era jogging outfits, but I had no luck.

Nice work on being a PITA to your co-workers!

Loving those shorts Cate. Sexyyyy.

Hi Oaks, my peach! Have missed you. Your red wine and muffin night sounds epic--Invite me to the next one!

Those shorts are fantastic. How can someone run in denim, though? That sounds terribly painful.

It may help that the denim doesn´t actually cover any moving parts. Lady without thigh-gap probably won´t get far though.

Hello hello hello! I've been lurking for a few days now. (Whoa, just checked out the date, I guess I've been lurking for a while.) But it's the Tuesday after a long holiday weekend so I need to quit lurking and be a little more active. After thinking about it for a bit I've decided to participate in the Runners World Run Streak again! For those who remember, I ran every day from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day along with our friend Q, who is still going strong. I, on the other hand, stopped the streak on Jan 1. But they promote another streak from Memorial Day to July 4th (41 days total), so I'm going to give it a whirl.

Day 1 - 1.19 miles in 12:29

I weighed in this morning at 159.8. Honestly, after this weekend and the few days leading up to it I was expecting to be in the 160s. The drinking... Oh, the drinking. I was really down on myself after a bit of a late night injury. We stayed at a friend's house on Saturday and he's got some windy stairs that I tried to navigate around 3 am. Took a spill, and now have a bruise on my tush that I can barely cover with my hand (fingers and all), plus some swelling that made yesterday's run a little more painful than it should have been. That's my left side, and my right hip is still not at 100%, so sleeping the past couple of nights has been tough. I'm a side sleeper but I've had to convert to 100% to the stomach. Hopefully that will heal up soon.

Thanks, LaMa! I'll stick around for a while, everyone else will just get sick of me talking about my run streak, haha.

Breakfast today was a homemade smoothie, lunch was a roast beef sandwich, and I've snacked on some raw almonds. I've got a 3 mile run planned with my co-workers (it's in the 80s out there, ugh) and dinner, dinner I am excited about..... It'll be a salad with corn, cucumber, jalapenos, leftover grilled chicken, onions, and avocado, dressed simply with balsamic and oil. And the lettuce will be minimal. Let's be honest, the lettuce isn't the star of the show here. We had this same salad last week and it was absolute perfection. And the best part is that the dishes to wash pretty much consist of a knife and a cutting board. Since that's my chore, I appreciate these kinds of meals!
