The (im)possible mission of an Italian cook's daughter

I've just read a newbie's signature...he said Learn how to lose 10 kg in one week. I hope no one will pm him to know how to do it, 'cause the only way to lose all that weight in one week is to cut off a leg! I'm really worried about this thing because there will surely be people who'll write to him and will spend large amounts of money to buy some "magic potion" or worse, who will do some dangerous diet that could be very damaging to their bodies...

It makes me sad that people post things like that..not only that, but alot of the time it really gives teenagers a horrible impression on how to "diet". They start looking at things like that and think "omg, easy fix!!" =( Losing weight is a life undertaking, not a magic pill or magic drink..

Unfortunately yes. There's no magic pill...

A magic pill would sure be nice but then I coudlnt be proud of myself and how far Ive come !!! It is a great sence of accomplishment and ppl who take easy routes I think rob themselves of that accomplishment

How have you been girl - I havent really been posting in diaries lately - thought I woudl drop in and say hey!!!

very good point, cerella... if there was a magic pill, we would all miss out on such a huge sense of accomplishment!

have a great weekend, venice girl! :D

I just went to the doctor and he said that I should do some exams because he thinks there might be something wrong with my thyroid gland and that is why I can't lose weight. :( I really hope it's not true...

Don't worry Venice girl, I know a few people with an underactive thyroid. The medication makes such a big difference. My sister had tests for thyroid but the conclusion was she has a big neck haha - she was like "thanks a lot"! She only weighs about 112lbs so I don't know why they thought she had a big neck! Good luck with the tests! I hope everything is okay :)

Interesting. Could very well be. Are you going to schedule the tests? When?

If you are going to, which I think you should, we should hold off on changing anything nutritionally until the results are in.

I've got the tests on Saturday morning and should get the results next week.
The doctor told me to eat as usual until the tests so they can see if it's thyroid or something else.

Thank you Rachie, I hope it's all ok :)

Hi VeniceGirl; hope you get good news on your thyroid. Another reason it may be hard to lose weight is because you might not be eating enough. That diet you sent me seems really low on cals, doncha think?

Hey, just got caught up, hope the results turn out ok. I get checked for thyroid problems yearly cause my dad had hyperthyroidism most of his life (he finally balanced his life and food, etc and is normal now, so no more pills, woohoo). It works the opposite way though, you would be underweight and have a hard time gaining (is it bad that I sometimes wish I had it too! -- ok not seriously wish, but still, you know what I mean).

Hope all turns out well, keep us posted hun! *hugs*

Howdy Venice,
My aunt controls her thyroild medicine with medication and
it seems to working well for her.I hope everything works out for you.
Have a nice day Tammy
