The Gamer's Diary

Allo again.

Strange how people differ, I didn't really have any problem cutting out carbs, I basically don't have bread anymore, I eat very little pasta or rice or any grains at all to be honest, very little cereal. The one thing I can't give up is meat, I swear meat is the best thing ever, nice thick cut ribeye steak cannot be beaten, and bacon as well, bacon is surprisingly low cal, you can have a bacon roll and the roll will be more calories than the bacon!

I think you should just get a scale of your own, I got a decent weight watchers digital one which is accurate down to the 0.1lb (overkill but good to know it's accurate!), I had similar fears of becoming obsessed with weighing and set a strict weekly weigh time for myself, I stuck to that for about 12-13 weeks before I started measuring in between weekly and then even more frequently than that, it's really helped me understand how my weight fluctuates up and down naturally during the week and how that can make it look like you've not lost much when in fact you have. You just have to be very careful that you don't assume the worst if you see an increase (which you may if you weigh every few days).

I know what you mean about sticking to routine of a few meals, I have basically several fairly strict routines that I stick to in order to keep my calories in check, most of them aren't "good" routines, but they're the lesser of 2 evils in most cases.

1) Eat weight watchers meals for dinner approx 6 days out of every 10, always with some veg, extremely low cal

2) Cut out all salt, I'm using this opportunity of losing weight to correct my salt intake and I've replaced it with black pepper, lots and lots of it.

3) Eat at least one whole piece of fruit a day, usually when I get home from work to help curb hungar from long day.

4) Not eat breakfast

5) Eat salads at lunch, I get stuff from the "shapers" range from my local boots shop, basically a meal deal of meal/snack/drink where meal is salad, snack is fruit and drink is low cal something or other

6) Have meat heavy meals on 4 out roughly every 10 days, I will have 1 or 2 steaks in 10 days period usually, ribs at least once and chicken wings or something like that, most of the time the ribs and wings are just on their own, the steak is part of a meal. Lots of protein for when I do my upper body weight training.

7) Stick to Pepsi Max religiously, seriously I drink this stuff like there's no tomorrow, it's basically calorie free (about 1 cal per 250ml!!!), it may not be great for me but it's low cal and I can just chug the stuff, I'll go through a 2l bottle in about 2 days.

8) No sugar in tea/coffee, just don't need it now, tastes fine without it

9) Not afraid to cheat one day a week and get a takeaway, usually subsidised by eating not much else for the rest of the day and the following day.

That's about all I do, so it's pretty basic, there's a few weight watchers meals I'm more fond of, I buy the same fruit and veg every week, I buy the same lunches most days, I always drink Pepsi Max. I think it's part of what makes the diet so manageable, the same kind of calories on the box for every meal, I track my calories using livestrong.com every day but now I can pretty much guess what my daily amount is so far.

yeah Annie Bot is a real bee-otch, I usually get completely prawned when I face her, her burst is just effin' stupid. I finihed Deus Ex HR recently, that was really epic you should definitely play that if you've not already. Also been hammering Hard Reset which is also really good.

But something feels off since I last weighed in. Can't put my finger on it. Still no fast food, cokes, junk food though. I COULD be working out a little more but I'm not lol. Been a little relax, perhaps to much. The question is, now that I am below 350....should I get a scale of my own? Or continue to go see the doctor every month. Part of my wants a scale but then I think I'll use it to much and becomes obsessed with it. But on the other hand, I wouldn't have to take off work JUST to weigh in. Also...what if my new scale shows a different number? I go off of the doctors digital scale, then I will have 2 different numbers. I probably could eat chicken for the rest of my life...if it wasn't so damned expensive.

Honestly, weight loss is much harder when you are focusing on the weight being lost. I lost the chunk of the weight I've lost thus far over the winter -- and I wasn't paying attention to my weight over the winter (I lost 90 pounds over the winter). The changes I made during the Summer (last year) carried over into the winter and my daily life, and I lost weight.

I didn't weigh myself until after the winter. Then I kinda went a little obsessed with the scale (still am, kinda). But it never upsets me, just motivates me to get it to move down lol.

Anyways, I think if you keep up a more active lifestyle with a better diet, you shouldn't even worry about what's happening on the scale. After all, this is the kinda stuff you should be doing for the rest of your life anyways. So if you make it as normal as possible and less 'weight loss driven,' it will probably be both less stressful on you and longer lasting.

Your right Kiramon, at this point I am just going through the motions. I haven't waved much at all on my diet so thats nice. But working out I have been SLACKING major haha. I know working out helps to lose it faster but I don't know, I haven't been feeling to working out lately haha. I'll get back into it soon I'm sure, the next weigh in is in 13 days! I don't feel like I've lost to much but then again, I felt the same way last time and we saw how that worked out lol. Yall have a good week!

Hey yall! Well I am currently on the THIRD hole in my belt :) I am really hoping for atleast 10 pounds next time I weigh in. I can already tell that loose skin is going to end up being a HUGE problem for me. A problem confidence wise and clothes fitting wise! Perhaps once it's all said and done surgery would be a good route to take to get rid of it. I know thats a long long way down the line but it's just a thought. Things are going well though. Met a nice woman, been talking to her quite a bit lately and my job has calmed down slightly. And I am just going through the motions. So ya :) I weigh in on the 9th of Oct. so let's hope it's a good number! I fear with my slacking on exercise it will be low LOL :p

Good going on the belt, belts are a fantastic way to gauge weightloss, mine has gone down so much it's crazy, I started off about 3 holes from the smallest and hit that a while back, I'm up to about 3-4 holes poked in manually now, I basically need a whole new belt :)

Congrats to you :) I just bought some new more "form" fitting jean and come to find out I am now on the 4th hole of this belt lol. If I am doing a ton of walking I will go to the fit to make sure they stay above my hips but apparently I am still losing. I remember when I first got this belt too, I couldn't even wrap it around my waist! haha.

I don't however "look" any different. It's probably because of the skin becoming more loose everyday, it actually hides the progress because it hangs and such. While that sucks I know I am still losing. Not sure I will lose another 13 this month but hopefully I didn't screw myself by now working out much. We'll find out friday lol.

Looking different around the midsection takes so much time and effort it's silly, my belly doesn't seem any different and I'm about 42lbs down now, I don't know what it is, I guess there's just so much fat there that even after massive loss you still have loads left.

I mean I feel lighter and better about myself and I do look like I've lost a lot of weight but the belly is still there, i can just grab the huge mass and squeeze it into a large football shape and it's just awful, I think the last 30lbs I lose will 90% be from my tummy, my legs and arms are already looking comparatively skinny.

Keep it up, it sounds like you're doing great :)

Ya we'll see how great I'm doing friday. It's my own fault for not working out as much as usual but as long as I don't gain, I think i'll be ok lol. Today didn't start out well. Honey Nut cherrios and some milk and lunch is peanut butter sandwich. The real organic peanut butter stuff, I love it!. I already know I'ma have to much sugar and carbs and fat today lol.

Today is a feeling bummed kind of day for some reason. Still zero fast food and lots of lean meats, chicken, etc. My diet is good but I have been REALLY slacking on the workouts :(. I go weigh in on Friday and while I know I lost I feel and look like I've gained. If I did lose a lot I am thinking it will be mostly muscles since I haven't been weight training like I should. In any event, seeing my gut stay the same is starting to play with my head. It's rather annoying.

RadioActive, dude, don't stress about the belly, I've been there and it's not worth it.

Don't worry too much about the workouts, they help but it's not the end of the world if you miss some, the diet and calorie deficit is going to be doing most of the weightloss for you, the weights you do now are really just mitigating the damage that fast weightloss causes. Stick to the diet first and foremost, do exercise as and when you feel up to it, I'm doing weights about once a week right now and pretty much just maintaining, I can't seem to break 15 push ups these days.

Thanks Fro! About the weights, I noticed when I was doing them once too twice a week I was maintaining my strength and perhaps getting just a TINY bit stronger. And since I have taken a break from it...almost 3 weeks. I feel a lot weaker, esp. in the amount of push ups I can do. Thanks for the positive feedback, now I'm not so worried about Friday! lol.

Well had a pretty good weigh in this month. I am down another 6 pounds! For a total of 45 since day one. Would have like to see a little more but considering I cheat about 3 times and hardly worked out I think I did quite well. Was 381...now 336!

Dude that's so good, in barely any time at all you've exceeded my total weight loss and I've been at it for 20 weeks now!

Hey thanks so much yall! I am probably a lot bigger than you are too Forsteh so mine will come off faster :p Thank you for stopping by Jay!

Today marks week 15. 45 pounds in 15 weeks! Still can't believe it. My little tiny hidden goal has for some odd reason has been to hit 320 pounds...why that is I am not sure. But at 320 pounds I will have lost 61 pounds. Suddenly I am not to far off! My pics look pretty awesome. I want to post them up but I will wait till I hit the 80 pound mark. Once I hit 80 I am doing a video slide show of over a 30 weeks, one pic a week. Should be a fun video!

So, I just on accident pasted over this huge post I wanted to post. I was feeling really good after posting it but now i feel like shit haha. SO, today's food has been not so great. So far its been 6 ritz crackers w/ peanut butter, a cup of gold fish and 3 peaches...maybe 4 lol. Tonight will be chicken cooking in extra virgin olive oil as usual and working out as soon as I get home.

Also, while I know weight loss is body wide, the fat I have lost in my midsection seems to be coming from my upper region rather than my lower/gut region. When I wear the 3x shirts that don't engulf me like the 4xs do it looks like I am wearing an inner tube under my shirt lol. This is slightly annoying but I am sure it will go away and get smaller with time. I hope =X As for this month, I am 45 down and only 15 away from 60! Things I am doing this month...less whole grain rice, less portions and more exercise. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to hit 60 pounds which will put me almost at 320 which I know for a fact I haven't been since I was 19. So that's the plan, if I can do 10-13 this month..boy I will be one stupid happy man.

Sounds like you're doing well man, keep up the good work and make sure to report back when you next weigh in, my weightloss has slowed right down at the moment, trying not to get bummed out with it for now, I reckon I can cope for a few weeks before it will start to get to me.

Arg! It's been a while since I posted :( Work has been damn busy for me lately and ya Just haven't been able or haven't thought about posting. This month has been good..still a good diet, no fast food or cokes a TINY bit of candy at work but over all workin well. Picked up on the workouts more and got into a lifting routine. I know i've lost, my pants are get more and more loose but I can tell it's getting slower, which is alright. I don't think I will make my 81 pound mark by Dec. 31 st. But I think I will by with in 15 pounds of it....which is still damn amazing. Any whoooo, hope all is well to everyone. Thanksgiving soon =D

Hay man, long time no see. Glad the diet is still going well, it does tend to tail off quite fast as you lose weight your maintenance calorie limit is dropping quickly, i'm already back to about 1450 cals per day which means soon i'll have to lower my weekly loss from 2lbs to just 1lb to keep calories in the healthy range.

I think I'm past my 2-3 weeks of plateau now, dropped to 201lb this morning, the 200lb mini-goal is so close!
