The Gamer's Diary

WOW It's been to long since I have posted! Never the less I am still grinding my way to a less fat me! I just weighed in yesterday and after another month of being good and kind of bad hehe, I lost another 6 pounds!!! I am sitting at 330 pounds right now, down from 381 for a total of 51 pounds lost! It is such a nice feeling my goodness. It seems now that I am just grinding it off slowly but surly. This months weight loss was the exact same as last month so that's nice. Better to stay the same rather than gain I say. Anyways, hope all is well with y'all and Froseh I hope your doing well. See yall on the next update!

Hi RadioActive sounds like you're doing very well, 6lbs a month is pretty good if you can maintain it, as you lose weight it definitely becomes harder, you spend less energy day to day when you weigh less, I have to keep re-calculating my daily calorie count whenever the scale changes so I know what my new daily target is.

I think 6lbs a month with some cheating is better than 8lbs a month with no treats what so ever, whatever we do I think it has to be sustainable and never treating yourself isn't sustainable, learning to treat yourself in moderation is what's important.

I'm at a similar loss so far, I believe it's week 26 and total loss of approx 50lbs, it's really slowing down now so I think this is where the test of willpower really kicks in, I'm going to power through to my goal, I hope you keep on track and keep losing those lbs.

Oh also built a new gaming rig yesterday, 2600k,16Gb RAM, GTX580 and a SSD :)

Oh snaps, that 2600k is a good processor. I prefer AMD personally but that's because it's a little more affordable. 16 gigs is over kill but fuck it, why not right haha. That 580 is a DAMN solid GPU. I have a 570 that's over-clocked and it pretty much handles anything. Grats on the new system. What kind of SSD did you get anyways? I just picked up my first one a little over a week ago and I LOVE it. I had a small problem with it on Friday of last week with some error but I just did a scan disk and it repaired it self. My SSD is a Kingston Hyper X 240gig. Benchmarked at 512 Read and a little over 300 write. Did a massive amount of research and for me I found the Kingston SSD's to be the most realiable with the most performance. And the Sandforce controller is a lot better now that everyone is on their 4th Gen models. Installed windows in 7 minutes and boots in 18 seconds. I loves it.

Yeah I wanted to go for a high performance build without breaking the bank, I've done builds twice as expensive before and it's not worth it, I tend to overclock, I'll be dumping a customer cooler in at xmas hols probably and shooting for 5Ghz on the CPU, the 580 is the MSI Frozr II so its pre overclocked a bit and I will push that a bit more when I have time for testing. RAM is at an all time low so no point in doing it 1/2 assed :)

I got the OCZ Vertex 3, one of the few SSD with syncronous NAND right now so it has very fast read and write speeds, I decided to stick to 120Gb since I never filled more than about 150gb of my Western Digital Velociraptor, besides I have a total of 6Tb for archiving stuff now so space isn't an issue! Its my first SSD and I'm really happy with it, immensely fast, I think windows 7 x64 was about an 8 minute install from a USB key, haha :)

Been playing Skyrim at 2560x1600, 4xAA, 16xAF with Ultra settings, really good game.

Ya my GTX 570 is factory OCed and I was thinking about doing more but TBH I don't know much about over clocking and I figured I'd just leave it be you know. I know about computers but over clocking is still pretty grey to be. Good friend of mine OC's a lot and he was able to get his AMD 1090T 6 core up to around 4.4GHz. Which is to shabby. To be honest for the games I play and what not, the 570 , SSD and my 6 core 3.4 GHz processor does just fine. I play on a much smaller resolution 1920x1080 but that's because I play on a 55" LCD TV and not an actually computer moniter. I get about 50 FPS on ultra in Skyrim right now and it pretty much runs like butter. League of Legends though? NOT SO MUCH. I downloaded a patch last night and for some reason instead of the usual 70-120 fps I get, I was getting 25-50. It would constantly dip over and over...not sure what the problem is but it's rather annoying.

Right now I got about 70 hours into Skyrim, just made the best craftable (legit) bow in the game...that I know about atleast. 2 shot a dragon while sneaking last night, should have been able to one shot him but I kinda forgot the 130% bow damage potion haha. Here when you get a chance check out my character. I just started a youtube series called Skyrim - Create your own adventure. The first half shows off the bow and armor. Check it out and have a happy thanksgiving!

Overclocking is pretty easy these days but just best to read up about it first and learn best practice for it to avoid any potential damage, I actually fried my 5970 somewhat, so that's a lot of money down the drain.

I actually considered a large 50"+ TV to hook up my PC to but I found myself just looking for bigger and bigger screens and never really settling on anything that was satisfying, in the end I shot for a projector, I have a nice 1080p screen @ 122" right now, fun for the PS3 and some PC games work well from the sofa, LoL is one of them.

I did get to about level 35 in skyrim with my assassin and then restarted because I felt I'd made too many wrong skill choices, I'm back up to about level 30 again now so I've nearly covered all the ground I missed, really loving the game. That Daedric bow you have is nuts, I almost have my smithing at 100 for the bone armour, then I need to invest in the entire right side of the smithing tree in order to smith a Daedric bow which is kinda lame, oh well. Cool video man, good job :)

Weight loss seems to be hovering for me at the moment, I think i'm cheating too much on mince pies and whatnot right now, I really need to get my act together and get back to this seriously. I should ration my Skyrim based on meeting weightloss goals, that might work :)

I will be posting 6 month pics here pretty soon. Some of me at 381 with clothes and some at 326 with clothes as well. I had like 28 weeks of pics saved up and my hard drive failed and I lost them ALL! So sad...but I will be taking pics this week before I leave for me cruise and will be posting the before and after section. Lost a total of 55 pounds in a little less than 6 months. Pretty well on target...nice and slow. Life is good

Good to hear RadioActive, I'll probably post my before/after shots as well. I think I'm going to wait until I'm at my goal though, since I'm fairly close now.

Dude we need a status update, how did you do over xmas? I gained about 8lbs but I've managed to lose it now so back on track. Let us know how you're getting on!
