The Bench Chart

235 / 195 = 1.2

Bench press question. I've been working out on average about 3x month. I'm a 50 year old guy, 6'3" 215lbs. I can press 220lb on the Hammer Strength wide chest machine but only about 150 on a standard horizontal bench press. Is this normal?
I've been told guys should be able to press their own weight. Does it have to be on a standard bench or is a free weight machine equivalent?
If they're not equivalent, why is the standard bench so much harder than the Hammer Strength machine loaded with dumbbells?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread. I searched for a more appropriate one and couldn't find it.

Machines work differently to barbells, so what you can bench on any given machine is not going to carry over to a relative weight on the bench press.

That strength standard is with a barbell. Train using an actual bench and barbells, and train more than 3x/month, and you'll get somewhere.
