The amazing shrinking woman (I hope!)

:iagree:
Love the pic!
I have to say I'm a tad jealous about your bowling party Tigs, I LOVE bowling, but over here it is SOOOOOO expensive :( Last time we took the family, it cost us nearly $200! Outrageous...
Hope some more parties come up for you!

Thanks for the compliments on the picture! Not sure if you can tell or not, but that's a black lace fan with some sort of a scene painted on it that I'm hiding behind. It was given to me by this very dear old woman who I used to work with back in my college days. She went on a trip to Spain once and brought the fan back as a gift for me. I just love it because it's so pretty!

Jess, I can't believe bowling costs so much there!!! YIKES! I've never personally paid for bowling here, but when our church group went a few weeks ago and hubby took the girls I think he said it was around $16 for our 2 older girls to each bowl 2 games. So around $4 a game? They had to pay rent for shoes too, but my mother in law paid that and we never heard how much that cost. The whole wearing of rented shoes just grosses me out!

I love the photo and it's great to have a face to put to the name. I always thought of you with short dark curly hair, no idea why.

I've had curly hair a couple times in my life due to some unfortunate decisions to get my hair permed (though frizzy is probably a better term than curly to describe the result), but I have NEVER had short hair. Until this last summer it was waist length when I hit the 25 lb lost mark and cut it to be just below the bottom edge of my bra. I LOVE long hair and think it's super sexy!

I WISH it was naturally curly like my 9 year old daughter's, but sadly, it's stick straight. Although, the older I get the more wavy it seems to get. I keep hoping that there might be hope for me yet to have long curly ringlets for hair. But I'll probably be complete gray by then! :biggrinjester:

I had a crappy afternoon at work today. Found a pretty big problem on a project I worked on and my boss is NOT happy. Spent the afternoon trying to figure out how the hell I could have missed something so big. Needless to say I was super crabby when I got home from work. Hubby tried to put me in a better mood, but that only lasted until the kids mobbed me and I swear all 4 of them at once were going look at me, listen to me, pay attention to me!!!! In my state of crankiness, I couldn't take it any more, so I locked myself in my workout room and ran 3 miles. All the little minions had disappeared by the time I came out. I started making supper and it was like their radar had gone off. They all came back and were all chattering up a storm. I kept thinking I'd rather go back to work - at least it's quiet there!

After the kids were all in bed I sat down and wanted to watch a movie on TV. Every time a key part of the program was on, hubby picked that time to yak about one thing or another so I'd miss what was going on in the program. Then he'd ask me what was going on in it. HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW????? I missed it cuz you were talking to me! After about the 6th time of him doing that I finally asked him if he was going to keep yakking during the movie or what? Cuz if he is, I might as well shut the thing off cuz I didn't know what the hell was going on in it anymore anyway!

He got mad and stormed off into the other room.

At least I got to watch the rest of my movie in peace and quiet!

Can you tell it's PMS week at my house? That TOM is right around the corner.

Awww Tig, you sound like you had a right old grumpy day!!! I am definitely guilty of those every now and then. PLus, don't you feel guilty that when at work you work really hard and miss the family, then you get back after a bad day at work and wish you were back there because everyone at home doesn't give you a moment's rest?! The eternal dilemna of a working mother!

Hope today is a better one for you.

*hugs* Sounds like an absolute cruddy day! I did laugh a little though coz in my head you walked into the house and everyone was immediately on you, and you just stalked to the workout room and slammed the door shut in everyone's faces leaving them all standing there shocked. I don't know why but it made me giggle a little, sorry! All I have to say is that I hope one day I can have the willpower to not eat when I'm having a cruddy day and just go for a run instead.

My hubby talks at important points during movies/tv shows too and it drives me nuts!!

I don't know why I always thought of you with short hair as I know you have it long because of your post about it being 2 lengths because of falling out.
I'm glad that you still managed to get in your exercise and then finally relax even though it meant the rest of the family getting in a strop. :)

Well, work went much better today. But still completely annoyed with everyone and everything. I can't wait until PMS week is over. I hate feeling so bitchy.

Made an interesting discovery this morning. Lately I've been taking a cup and a half of skim milk, heating it and then mixing in a couple teaspoons of instant coffee and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. This, along with some fruit, is usually what I've been having for breakfast when I'm running late - like today. But I didn't get around to drinking it right away and it got cold. So I decided to pop it in the microwave to reheat it. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Something with the whey powder made all these cooked, cheesey chunks form in my protein drink. It was SO gross! :puke:

Foods today were pretty good till I got home from work. My 9 year old daughter had been begging me to buy some key lime pie, which they had tried for the first time while visiting my mother. So I picked one up last week. Except it turns out she and I are really the only ones that like it.

Bet you can't guess what happened? That's right folks - I caved. Had me a nice, big ol' slab of key lime pie - at probably 500 cals. Then for supper tonight I tried a new recipe where you bake noodles with eggs and cheese in a pan, then put pizza toppings on the cooked egg/noodle/cheese mixture and bake again till the cheese on the pizza toppings is melted. It was yummy, and I did make it with turkey pepperoni, but the sodium was thru the roof. So I fully expect that when I step on the scale tomorrow morning the number I see is gonna make me want to cry.

I really shouldn't let the number on the scale matter so much to me. But I can't seem to stop myself from stepping on to check where I'm at. Depressing news or not.

Well, I have to work in the city tomorrow, so need to get some sleep. I have this LOOOOOONG all staff meeting tomorrow that I have to sit thru.

Nighty night peeps!

EW! Protein drinks are so hideous if not consumed straight away. I made the mistake of doing that once back in the day. Revolting!

Tigs I too thought you'd have short hair for some reason. How weird is that?

As for hubby talking through the movie - OMG that irritates me! My hubby is obsessed with pointing out where actors are from, eg 'LOOK! That's the guy from Scent of a Woman! LOOK! It's definitely him. Do you think that's him? What else has he been in?' and so on. He does it all through movies and it brings out the crotchety old hag in me every time and I end up telling him to shoosh it up!

Sorry about the bad day (it sounded awful!), but at least today was a bit better :) Good luck with the scale tomorrow!

ewwwwwwwww. sorry about that curdy drink. i sooo hope the meeting went quicker than you thought it would!

key lime pie is an absolute fave of mine. Cabbie's mom would make this from limes brought up from key west. mmmmmmmmmmm....memories of that wonderful pie. next time just send me a slice and it will all be better ;)

you know what? sometimes the guilt of an occasional cave in can get us back on track even more so. don't beat yourself up too much. ok?!

have a great afternoon!

My hubby does the SAME THING!!!! He always has to know this whole list of movies each actor has been in. He spends hours researching on the internet who all the actors are in each movie we watch, then cross referencing any other movie they've been in. He has a ton of favorite actors and HAS to buy the DVD of every single freakin' movie they've ever been in. Drives me nuts some days, but I guess the guy needs a hobby or two. There are worse things I suppose.

The long all staff meeting went pretty well today. We have some funny, talented people in our department that really know how to make people laugh.

OH! Speaking of laughing! One of my coworkers and I drove to the meeting together. He and I started on the same day 15 years ago and are very good friends. We hang out on our breaks, go to lunch together, and work on a lot of projects together. He's like a brother to me. Anyway, we sat next to each other during the meeting today and on the half way break I ran to use the restroom and left him to watch my purse for me. While I was gone a new employee came up to talk to him (apparently they had a few classes in college together). Anyway, when I came back he handed me my purse and kept talking about what ever he had been telling the new guy without missing a beat. Then the new guy asked "So, are you guys married?" I immediately answered YUP because I am of course married and so is he. My bud started laughing and said "Me married to her???? I freakin' WISH! She's everything that the woman I got stuck with is not." It took me a bit to realize what the new guy had meant! LOL!!! I felt like such an idiot! So for the rest of the day the big joke was that we are married and I'm his work wife. :smilielol5:

Foods were pretty good today, though was way under calories until tonight. The kids wanted to try this new pizza hut pizza that has these cheese filled bread balls stuck around the outside of the pizza. Normally I grab something else for myself that is healthier and lower calorie, but I was running REALLY late so just had a slice. I was actually kind of disappointed. I remember their pizza tasting better, but I didn't think it was all that great. Definately not worth the calories.

My eyes feel like raisins tonight. I didn't take water with me to the meeting, so I went all morning without anything to drink. Then this afternoon I was so busy that I forgot to drink any then too. Normally I drink a liter of water in the morning and another in the afternoon. So tonight I'm trying to make up for it a little bit. But not too much because I don't want to have to wake up during the night to pee! With all the salt I've had today though, maybe I'll retain all of it. I wouldn't be surprised if by tomorrow morning my weight takes a big jump.

Well, it's off to dreamland for me. I have to work in the city again tomorrow and they are forcasting freezing rain tonight. I'll have to leave extra early to allow time for driving on those nasty icey roads.

Sleep well my friends!

Sleep well, Tigs. I'll be up all bloody night doing this sodding essay!

Oh my god, I adoreeee the cheesey balls (no jokes, Jay/Val/Cabbie/any other deviants in the vicinity!) on pizza hut pizza. So good. Well done for only having a slice (and hating it!!!)

I like a different kind of cheese balls. They are the orange kind that are puffy, and crunchy and sort of melt in your mouth. I used to dunk them in ranch dressing years ago. Now I don't even touch them because I know once I have a single one, I can't stop!

I'm SO glad it's almost Friday. It's been a long hectic week. I thought I'd pop on here quick while I'm waiting for the kids to finish eating, then I'm going to go run because if I sit down for a minute I'm going to fall right to sleep!

From your description of the weather and having to drive in it - I'm happy to live/work where there is no snow (rain is bad enough here - it's STORM WATCH everytime a cloud hits).

I know what you mean about eating something you used to enjoy but don't eat anymore - and being disappointed. It actually happened to me last night. I think it is a good thing as it will likely make it less of a temptation next time.

Have a great Friday to round out your week!

Thanks for stopping by Jen! The drive to work was interesting this morning. 70 miles of driving on solid ice. When I got there I had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel because I had such a death grip on it the whole time! But it warmed up nicely today and melted it all off by the time I had to drive home. But in the next few days we are supposed to get down to -15 (yes that's a minus sign) and 5 more inches of snow.

Hubby always says that the weather keeps the riff raff away because the trouble makers can't take all the cold and snow.

Well, I just finished a lovely 4 mile run, have all the kids in bed and am enjoying a glass of wine while putting my feet up. (big sigh) LOVELY!

Jealous of your run even in the bleakest winter!! I want a treadmill!!!! It was -16 when I drove to work the other morning...brrrrr!

hehe must have been a great feeling that your buddy would like you as a wife!! Even in jest!!

70 miles of ice, yikes! Glad you are safe and sound. I'm in the Boston area now, and all we have to worry about is snow, usually. But when I lived in the Midwest it was those ice storms that were terrible. If you lived at the bottom of a hill (which we did!) forget it..., sit back, relax, and hope you have enough food to last you a week.

Oh, gosh, and those cheese balls.... when we go to BJ's (our wholesale club store) boyfriend loves buying those HUGE tubs of them. One day when I was home alone I absolutely went nuts with them, and he noticed the second he walked in the door that I had eaten a ton. I was so embarrassed and have not eaten a single one since that day. I was upset at the time but I am very grateful now that there's one more thing I can avoid when it's in the house!

Hey Tiggy!

Luv the avatar. lol I need to catch up on a lot of threads but from what I read, you seem to be hangin in there, and doing great I must add.

Hope you and the fam are keeping well. Lookin forward to another pic with the fan on the other side of your face.....then we can paste the two together and get the whole Tiggy! lol

Take care and tty soon.

LOL Flumes, or you could just flip the image in photoshop...then she might look a bit wierdly symetrical!!
