Hello all! Welcome to my diary
I will be updating what I eat and how much I exercise.
Okay
Technically 108 pounds to lose!
Female, 5 ft 7, 248 lbs.
Starting weight 248 lbs
Current weight 240 lbs
My goal weight 140 lbs
After spending a day browsing I realized that no carb diets are not for me! I will try not to eat too many but I think counting calories and eating healthy will work better for me than anything else.
I took a trip to the grocery store today and here is what I picked up:
Stir fry veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)
Stir fry chow mein and Stir fry white rice
Cheerios
Black Beans
Extra Virgin Olive oil
Blueberries and blackberries
Soy sauce
Cottage Cheese
Few slices of Pepper Jack Cheese
Brown Rice
Vegan burger patties
Iceberg Lettuce
Whole wheat pasta
Organic Tofu
Whole grain wheat thins
I would like to know what you guys think of these diet foods? A lot of you have lost weight and are more experienced than I am so I would just like your opinions! I used to eat one or two full/big meals a day (and one late at night around midnight) I have decided I will not eat huge meals late at night anymore and that I will eat smaller meals through out the day opposed to two giant meals. I am thinking about working out for 40 minutes, 3 times a week to start.
My question for experienced dieters is this. I tried a weight loss calculator that mapped out how much I would have to restrict calories by in order to lose 100 lbs by 2013. This is the website: http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-required/
After putting in my details it recommends that I start with eating 1,483 calories in week 1 in order to go down to 245.57, and so on. Here is the little chart below.

My concern is that I don't know if I'll be eating 1,483 calories a day. I plan on eating cereal as my first meal with blueberries, blackberries, and maybe two wheat thins with cottage cheese. For lunch I plan on eating stir fry with tofu and for dinner just a vegan burger pattie with some brown rice and veggies. (and I plan to vary my diet in similar fashions for most days and have Chipotle burito bols without sour cream or guac, one time a week). I don't know if it will equal 1,483 calories a day but my question is , is it absolutely necessary to reduce caloric intake weekly to lose weight? Or can I just consistently keep eating how I plan to on the diet? I would hate to be off on the wrong foot so I would love your opinions based on your experiences!
General rules of my diet
- Follow outlined calories in chart
- No Bread (this is the hardest for me!)
- No Sugar (outside of fruit) this means no donuts, cake, ice cream, candy, sugary cereals Oh boy
- Never exceed 1400/1500 calories
- Try to work out 30 minutes or more daily
- No Soft Drinks (will be very tough for me!) not even diet soda
- No white rice (only brown)
- No fast food with the exception of Subway and Chipotle
- Absolutely no junk food
- Absolutely no fried foods. None.
I'm going to allow my self to have 1 day a week where I can have a little bit of bread , or white (instead of brown) rice. If I choose to!
Today was my official first day of my diet. It didn't start off exactly how I had hoped because I went grocery shopping late but I didn't eat badly. Here is what I ate today:
Day 1
- 5 or 6 purple grapes
- A burrito bol from Chipotle with Brown rice, black beans, fajitas, mild sauce, cheese, lettuce, and chicken.
