Starting Over

Still waiting on the doc to call me about my thyroid meds. I've been off them for two weeks and I can really feel it. I tire out easier and my appetite has increased, which is weird for me. I always have impeccable willpower but the past couple of weeks I have struggled with it. Not normal for me at all. Like today I had 6 cookies and I don't even like cookies that much. I was just hungry and that's what I wanted. I usually crave salty stuff like popcorn, tuna (yes I crave tuna all the time) and soup. Not today, carbs carbs carbs. I'm sick and the TOM is here and I usually don't eat much at all during these times. I don't know what was up with today since I am usually very in tune with my body and what it needs.

Oh well, tomorrow will be better. I packed my lunch for school and I always pack the same thing. Chicken sandwich on whole wheat double fiber bread with mustard (150 calories), Kashi TLC 7 Grain crackers with a small tub of plain tuna (210 calories), 1 cup of all natural, organic trail mix or granola, Kashi high fiber/protein bar, apple, 2 cups raw baby carrots, 2 cups raw celery sticks, and a 750ml jug of water I keep filling up at the water fountains. I start the day with a super healthy and heart breakfast of 350-400 calories before I leave the house and dinner ALWAYS consists of lean protein and veggies.

This is what I eat EVERY day (except for today) and I exercise at least four hours a week. Today has me discouraged and being sick and pms'ing doesn't help. I'm just ready for my body to start cooperating. ANd for my fucking doctor to call me back!!!!!!!!

Damn, Amy, that is A LOT to handle--PMS, thyroid issues, and sickness all rolled into one! :( I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the kind words in my diary :)

That totally sucks Amy, totally ridiculous of that doctor to not even ween you off just make you go off the medication cold turkey. Sounds highly irresponsible too. Doctors can be such dicks. I feel so bad that you are feeling run down and discouraged because of this idiot. Take good care..and keep doctor shopping.

Thought I'd breathe some life into this poor, neglected diary. :D

So how are you FEEEEEEELING??? Get used to hearing that question..lmao. And, people asking you fifty million times when you're due--b/c they will not remember the answer from the first 49 million times they asked you. :)

Sooo, I figured I needed to update this diary before it just disappears.

For those who don't already know, I'M PREGNANT!!!

My goal this pregnancy is to maintain the weight I am at and only gain the recommended 15-20lbs. I also plan to stay fit and active regardless of any sickness. Last time I was so sick I stayed in bed and got WAY out of shape. I plan to continue running 20 miles per week until my belly is too big, and then I plan to take it to the elliptical! I will continue to weight train 3 days a week as well.

I got 30 minutes on the Arc Trainer at a high intensity (incline = 10, resistance = 50%) on friday and went running (3 miles) on saturday morning. Both times I was nauseated but I exercised anyway and didn't vomit. YAY! I also weight trained for an hour last night.

I have increased my calories to maintenance, 2000 for non-workout days, and 2300-2500 on workout days. I am gonna come out of this pregnancy fit and ready to go!

I have tracking spreadsheets where I am tracking my calories, exercise, and weight for this pregnancy. Whether I want it or not, I am keeping my snacks to fresh fruit, veggies, and nuts. My meals are lean protein with more veggies. I know this will be a challenge when the cravings kick in but I can do this!

Good luck with those cravings, girl! I have been caving like crazy to them the last few weeks. Can't seem to say no to sweets. :ack2: But you are far more dicsiplined than I, so I'm sure you'll do better. :)

You got a new pic, I love it!!!

Im sorry I hardly drop by (but I do see you in the other thread)...with the challenge ending and you being preggo I plan on droppin in more often...

Im happy you are ok with your pregnacy...a lil blessing obviously and Im sorry your family is so worried and driving you crazy.

Good for you for running while feeling sick!!!And good for you for your positive attitude of making this a healthy pregnancy and exercising as long as you can with the all you have:):):)

Thanks BB and Relly!

This morning sickness (all day with me) is kicking ass! I was awake all night in the fetal position trying to yak all over the sheets. LOL! Poor Sean couldn't even sleep with me. The nausea comes in waves so I've been struggling to get my calories to maintenance each day. I'm getting my exercise in though! I just push through the nausea and fatigue and keep going. I got 40 minutes of weight training and 20 minutes of cardio on Wednesday and will get another 40 minutes of weights today with some more cardio. I'm gonna get a run in the morning when my energy is at its peak. The fatigue is keeping me from going at full capacity but that should disappear in a 2-3 more weeks. I hope!!!

Hope everyone is doing well! Have a great weekend!

Best method for skin problem and weight loss is "Kapalbhati-Pranayama". It is part of yoga. Within a week u will find a difference in your body. I am also doing this.

Hey Ladies!!

Been awhile since I updated. I just haven't felt like it. The morning sickness (24 hours/day) was getting to be too much so I went to my doc and he put me on Zofran. It has worked wonders!! I was spending every night awake from the nausea and vomiting. I could barely walk to class without having to detour to the bathroom. I have only been managing a workout 2 days a week through sheer stubbornness, I almost vomited on the indoor track.

The Zofran keeps me feeling normal for the most part of the day so I am finally able to be much more active. Today Bella and I went jogging/walking with the stroller to the neighborhood park and back. It lasted an hour and a half and I burned 550 calories. Woot! Tomorrow I will do my weight training and 30 minute stretching session. I'm gonna start stretching for 30-45 minutes with yoga, pilates, etc. 3-4 days a week so I can stay as limber as possible with my belly getting so huge. I can't have an epidural during labor this time (almost killed me last time) so I want to the in the best shape possible for labor and delivery. Not only to make it easier but to help me recover faster.

It looks like we may be moving right after the baby is born so I don't have to worry about making room. We currently own a 3 bedroom house but are gonna need a 4 bedroom with the newbie. Right now I am planning all the necessary renovations to get this house sold as quickly as possible. I have a designer (free consult) coming next week to get an estimate on my kitchen. I am refacing the cabinets, installing new countertops and appliances, painting the walls AGAIN, and replacing the flooring. Thanks goodness we live in an area that hasn't been hit very badly with the housing crisis and houses seem to still be going at a profit. So far the current appraisal is $20,000 more than we paid for this place and with the updates, we can probably increase that to $40,000. Plus this entire area is primarily military (pilots) so there are ALWAYS new families coming in needing to purchase a home. The other renovations is installing hardwood flooring throughout (except bedrooms) and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen. Repainting all interior, and updating lighting fixtures. This house is only 10 years old so we really don't have to do much. The kitchen is gonna be the most costly. The exterior has been kept in excellent condition and the landscaping still looks great so no real worries there. I think we'll be able to renovate for about $12,000 total. I hate preparing houses to sell!!

I'm so glad you've found something to help with the m/s. That has got to make your world so much better. :)

A move right after baby's born, eh? And remodelling while you're preggo? You trying to copy me? lol. I feel your pain, girl. My basement is being finished as I type this..lol. It's coming along nicely--and the best part is that we aren't doing it--like we did the main floor. So much less stress involved imo.

Lots going on I see. Very exciting stuff! And I know out of anyone, you can handle all of this just fine.. Luv ya and C U on facebook :).

Lowe's is having a sale so I'm getting a new kitchen countertop in Corian Solid Surface for only $1000! Woot!!! That's a hell of a lot better than Sears who quoted it at $4500 for a low end laminate. Crooked bastards.

On another note, I am almost 12 weeks into this pregnancy. The extreme nausea and vomiting is starting to taper off a little, I only vomited once yesterday. :) Today Bella and I will be running errands, hitting the park (the weather here is awesome), then the gym. I have to get fitted for a birdesmaid dress at noon and I AM NOT looking forward to it. We are having to guess which size since the wedding is less than a month before my due date. AND I'm the matron of honor so the bride should look AWESOME next to me at the altar. LOL! ALl the bridesmaids were whining about needing to lose weight and tone up before then, but I assured them they'd all look tiny compared to my sumo-size ass by then. Hah!

I'm almost done with the first trimester and only a 2lb gain and those 2lbs were right at the beginning when the hormones started surging and I gained the 2lbs while o low calories and exercising. Doc chalked it up to the added estrogen and the fact that my thyroid levels plummeted. The thyroid levels are being monitored monthly and are under control. The last pregnancy I gained 20-30lbs in the first trimester due to the whole thyroid issue. Sooo, I think I'm off to a pretty good start with this one.

My belly is already showing. I have a fused spine (born with it), my bottom vertebrae is fused into my pelvic bone which makes my pelvis tilted. This is causing my uterus to sit up higher than normal so I'm showing a bit more than I should right now.

Another weird thing is going on with cravings. I LOVE veggies and I am experiencing an extreme aversion to them right now. I am struggling to get the daily recommended amounts right now. I hope this goes away soon!!

Well, better go bathe Bella and shower myself.

Peace Out!!!
