Starting Over

Happy New Year to you too!!

2009 is gonna be a good year, I can feel it.

I also got to teach my SS to shoot his first gun (youth size 22). I grew up on a farm way out in the country and grew up hunting. Just to clarify, we don't hunt for sport, we hunt to feed the family. I stopped hunting years ago but still love to shoot. I personally own 6 guns and one of my favorite past-times is to go shooting at the farm or shooting range. And since I'm a better shot than my husband and have been around guns much more, he let me do the honor of teaching my SS all about gun safety and how to shoot properly. He did really well, I was very proud of him.
This is awesome:)My bro and I use to bel9ong to a gun club back in the day and I loved shooting when we did...

Nice collection of firearms! I have 4 rifles, 1 shotgun, and 1 handgun. It's a great way to let off steam. Here's a pic of me out shooting with my dad last week. We we're having a competition of shooting acorns off the tree. I won. Lol!

Awesome!! Shooting is such an adrenaline rush and I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie so I love it. Do you shoot anymore? I think it's empowering for a woman.

Thanks Relly! I have a "tomboy" side and a "lady side" so my H never really knows what he's getting each day. He loves that I get out and do the "guy things" that he enjoys doing. He just doesn't like it sometimes when I'm better at it than he is. LOL! We are both very athletic so we want our kids to grow up loving the outdoors like we do. I think we're off to a pretty good start. Both would live outside if they could. :)

I do CA work for an architecture firm here in LR. It consists of contracts, fee proposals/projections, blah blah blah. It's boring but a good job. I work in multiple big charities around town and have made many contacts with other firms/businesspeople through them. That's how the word has spread about my resignation, I had to give them all my new contact information. I may still do something part-time to stay up to date in the industry, i don't know just yet though.

I am usually always upbeat and peppy. I have enough "get up and go" for 10 people. Besides, life is no fun if everything is all "normal" and boring. Gotta spice it up!

Thanks for stopping by! I'll have to go check out your diary again. It's been awhile since I popped in there.

Go team!

I also forgot to comment on your 2009 comment.Alot of us are feleing this is the year and I think that is awesome:D!We can all accomplish it together and it can be our year and the poor old year wont know what hit it, LOL!

Hi Teammie!

You have me cracking up in the Team 1 thread. Stopping by to introduce myself and say hello!

Can't wait to see how we all do come week 6!

Keep up the good work. :D

Hey sexy, gun-totin' mama! :biggrinjester: If the military is in need of a sharpshooter, they should come to you. ;)

Hope you have a great week. Isn't this your first one since your last day of work?

Hah! I'd love to be a sharpshooter!!

Today is my first day of unemployment. This is really hard for me since I've always had the reputation of "workaholic". In college I had three jobs and always kept two jobs until I met Sean and he doesn't want me to work at all!!! When we met I worked 70-80 hours a week!! I do, however, have an interview with a local interior design firm today at 1:00. Is a great position as bookkeeper and it's part-time, great pay, and works around my classes. I said no at first but decided to check it out, hoping that some of the work can be done from home. Sean has mixed feelings about it but we'll see!!

Stayed within my calorie range this weekend but no exercise. :( My knee is still jacked and I spent all of saturday in bed sick with a stomach bug. I'll hit the gym tonight!!

Dont feel bad about not working, you will make life easier for Sean and the baby will love to spend more time with you. They're only little once and you dont want to have any regrets that work came in the way of that.. The part-time gig does sound good if they let you work from home sometimes. Hope your knee feels better.

I agree with Claudia--take some time off and enjoy it. plenty of women would love to be in your position.

Sorry to hear about your knee and bug. :( HOpe you feel better soon. :)

Well, I was offered the job but turned it down. It would just be too hectic with school and the baby. I'm really enjoying spending time with her. Classes start on thursday so I have tons of time with her today. This week I plan to get the house spotless with tons of spring cleaning. Bella and I are also gonna hit the farmer's market for some fresh produce then I'll ler her play at the new nature-inspired park by the river market. This afternoon we're gonna hit the trails with her jogging stroller and enjoy the weather a bit, 48 degrees and sunny! Busy busy!!

Bitches with guns are hot! Good to see you drop back in!! Yes, you've been gone way too long, I'm so happy to see that you're back.

Yep, going back. I have a degree in business but I have a few classes to finish my Finance degree before I pursue an MBA or go to law school. I enjoy finance so I figured I'd go ahead and get it. AF is paying for all my school so I'd be crazy not to take advantage of it!!

You're in my thoughts too. Send me your address there in Hawaii so I can send you something!!

Amy,
Sorry you had a jacked up knee and the stomach flu! :( I agree with Kimberly and Sheryl, and enjoy the transition from workaholic to recovering workaholic, LOL ;) You KNOW you love the "Me Time" and time spent with your kid(s?). Take care, teammie! :grouphug:

Yoga for the Thyroid

Shoulder stand is the best but I can think of Rabbit pose as being great, too! Inverted poses in general are going to "bathe the brain and endocrine system in blood" which assists in balancing hormones. My Yoga Bible says:

"Inverted postures improve lymph and venous circulation. They work the heart and boost the immune system. Increased blood supply to the endocrine glads at the throat is the reason why inversions are considered to be hormonal balancers. As holding a position with a whole new relationship to gravity demands a certain steadiness of body and mind, inversions are calming poses. They lessen tiredness and develop concentration. As inversions quiet the mind and settle the system down, they are generally practiced toward the end of an asana session, after your body has been well warmed up."

So you might want to do some exercise or actual Yoga before jumping into a shoulder stand. Warm up your back with Bridge pose, too--and make sure your heart center is well opened in that posture (stick out tits and schooch the flesh on the backs of your arms under your upper back to aid this). Also, my Yoga teachers make sure none of us do this without a few folded up blankets under out shoulders, which gives the head some space and won't strain the neck: fold 2 or 3 blankets into a rectangle. Lie on your back over the neatly lined ip edges of the blankets. The back of your head will be on the floor and the top of your shoulders about 2 inches away from the edge.

Here's a great article to explore: When you click on the title "Your Yoga sequence of postures" it shows a great series that you probably would benefit from by doing every night a few hours before bed--give it a shot!

Where are you girl? I miss your fine sharpshooting ass. :D HOpe you didn't lose power in those storms that hit the other day.

Nope, I'm here. I just mostly post in the challenge thread right now. My parents lost power in the northern part of the state and won't get it back on until Sunday or Monday. YIKES!! We're okay here. I love suburbia!!!

Same 'ol stuff going on here. Still dealing with my damn thyroid problem. I started back to school a couple weeks ago and have been super busy studying each day. I find that I'm much more focused now than the last time I was in college 5 years ago. Should be good for my GPA!!!

Glad to see you still have your game face on!

I hope that thyroid problem resolves itself. That must be so frustrating.

Have a great weekend!!

Glad things are going well with school and that you didn't lose power. HOpe the thyroid issue gets resolved soon. That would drive me nuts. :cuss:
