I posted in the "injury and prevention" thread but I wanted to put this here too to get some opinions. Its still not any better and I'm not sure I actually need to go in tomorrow to get xrays or something:
I woke up this morning with a funky pain at the ball of my foot. It hurts of course when I push on it but it also hurts when I bend my toes or flex them. Especially when I flex #3 toe. I didn't do anything to traumatize it yesterday and literally it just showed up as I stepped out of bed. Feels like I'm walking on BONES poking out of my foot. It feels fine when I have my running shoes on..and stubbornly I did run today with slight discomfort. Mostly its horribly painful when I'm barefoot. What is it?

Good thing you posted here since I don't even know where the injury forum is located. This site is too big and confusing for my small brain.
I'll throw a dart and say stress fracture. Quite common in the second or third metatarsel. Does it hurt in that area or at the ball?
Having your running shoe on would help protect the area where as being barefoot would expose it to more pressure.
Have it checked. If you mess around with it, it'll turn into a real fracture. Shouldn't take that long to heal.
shoot. well I guess I'll check it out. I know they say not to "self diagnose" but stuff I'm finding on the internet isn't encouraging me either. I'd be pretty bummed out if it was a fracture. Stress fractures don't always even show up on xray do they?
