Sparrows Experiment

Threshhold running is going a longer period of time at a level that you feel almost is intollerable...but you can somehow sustain. lol. Its that feeling of almost crossing that "I'm going to die" line, but not quite. My warm up pace is 6.0mph (10 min mile), comfy pace that I can sustain for an hour or more is 6.7 and all out sprint pace is probably around 9.0 mph. I do my threshhold run between 7.1-7.5. Its a pace you cannot talk at and have to concentrate to get through. If you road run go jog pace..then all out sprint...and then find a place somewhere at the upper end of the middle of those. Thats threshhold. It helps you get to a new level in running. kinda breaks you from getting in a rut at one speed and takes you to the next

Gave an answer in your thread about the EFA. Hope it helps.

Because I took 2 days off midweek I used the weekend to catch up. Today was an "active recovery" day from yesterday. I was a bit sore this morning. Did 30 min level 10 on the eliptical and then 10 min in the pool. I'd planned on swimming way more but the pool was WAY too hot to swim laps in.

breakfast: 1/2 c oatmeal with splenda and cinn. 1 whole egg dipped in sf maple syrup.
gym
lunch: 1 grilled chicken breast, 4 c romaine lettuce, (homemade dressing) blended flax seeds stirred into 1 T olive oil, garlic powder and balsamic vinegar DANG was it good!
snack: 1 T peanut butter on 1 lc ww tortilla , celery sticks
dinner: sliver of pizza, veggies galore, maybe some chick breast later. I'm just too hot.

Today my little boy started kindergarten, and Bethany started 2nd grade. I feel so sad! It was SO WEIRD sending Ian to school. I'm ALWAYS with him :( He had a fabulous time though...of course ;)

I am taking this week as a "whatever week" nutritionally. I feel like I'm totally force feeding myself in this heat and its only been making me bloated and crabby feeling. I'm only going to eat what I want, when I'm hungry. Course my taste is for the more healthy things these days so I doubt I'll stray too much. I just need a breather from all this hard work! I'll still kinda post

break: 1 scoop whey, 1 c milk
lunch 1/2 chicken breast, 1 low carb ww tortilla
snack: few peanuts and 6 baby carrots
dinner: another shake: 1 scoop whey, 1 c milk, 2 T flax seeds
5 tortilla chips with homemade salsa
EDIT: snack: um sort of :) 1/2 c strawberry cheesecake REAL ice cream...
later...2 T peanut butter (the biggest NONO mix carbs and fat!)
1000 total probably.

*guess what. The minute it got cooler in my house I magically got my appetite back...er...as seen by my midnight snack. lol.

gym: 30 min run 6.5, 20 min precor level 10, 10 min moving stairs..all that really wiped me, not enough cals.

I did fitday and total today was mid 600's :O I don't think one day will kill me, but I totally could tell the difference in my workout. dang, HUGE difference. I wasn't really hungry, but I really didn't feel well most of the day. I have already gotten in 100 oz of water and I still have about 4 hours till bedtime. I need to shop as if I'm not going to cook for a while. Its too hot here and our air isn't the most efficient. If I cook it ends up heating the whole house. thats part of my issue with eating right now. I just can't cook anything. We need more propane and then I can grill things in the morning when its cooler to have for later. I hope this heat wave breaks soon. 112 again here today :(

My daughter starts kindergarten Aug.15, so I'll be there very soon.

Man, I drank SO much water yesterday. Probably upwards of 1 1/2 gallon. I felt like it was neverending but I needed it. Even after I worked out I thought I was going to faint I was so darn pooped from the heat.

Today I think I'm taking a day off. I said "I think" because I may get a whim to go swim later, but maybe not. I've done many hard days in a row and I can feel that overtrained feeling. I've been very busy this morning so here it is 10:15 and i'm just now eating. not smart.

Breakfast: 1/2c oat bran hot cereal, 2 T natty butter, drizzle of sf maple syrup and cinn. (this tasted like a hot peanut butter oatmeal cookie!!)
300
lunch: scoop chocolate whey, 1 c milk, 2 T flax seeds
dinner: 3 c steamed broccoli with dressing of:
1T olive oil
1T sauteed garlic
cilantro sauteed with garlic
slivers red onion also sauteed
(optional snack) 3 stalks celery, 1/2 can tuna w/ ff mayo

Everything is pushed back because I was so late eating breakfast. I'll do lunch at around 1:30, dinner around 5 and thats it for the day. I'm going higher fat lower carb and cal today.

Man u guys start school EARLY!!! We start the last couple days in Aug (just before the Labor Day weekend). I can't imagine it...it's JULY!!!!!

yeah my kids are on year round. I'm still not sure if I like it or hate it. I do like the fact they get entire months off inbetween learning. They tend to do better in school, but it really messes with our family vacations. I think its totally rude to make kids go to school in this god-awful heat. My poor son came home crying today because he was "so hot I can't stand it" poor dude. Today actually seems cool compared to a few days ago. I think its 103 today, compared to 113 just a few days ago. by the weekend we should be in the 90s HORRAY.

I think it's gonna be in the 90's again here:( With the heat index, it feels so hot, you don't want to go outside.

My daughter can't wait until school starts. That's all she talks about. She can't wait to ride the bus.

ha She, isn't it so funny how at first they're so excited they can't wait to start school and RIDE THE BUS and as a kid I remember riding the bus as on my list of "things I really hate" lol

I didn't hate riding the school bus, I just didn't like it when I was the only senior on it during winter because my parents wouldn't let me drive.:(

LOL haha. Thank God by then I didn't have to ride the darn thing. Just in grade school.

Morning guys,

Today will sort of be a repeat of yesterday, because it went well. although I will add protein to that last meal, it just didnt' sustain me...and ditch the garlic as I had dragon breath forever. gross.

I seem to be looking rather "soft" today and its probably due to less protein and less cals. I do seem leaner with those soft lines...again, probably less cals. Anyway, my days are easier eating this way for now. I've been drinking 100oz or more a day of water and its really not that bad. I actually woke up in the night thirsty! ha. I thought that was weird.
Well I'm really out of running mode this week because of the heat but I might try a lung busting swim workout today instead.
