Skyler's new diary

You guys are cracking me up (your guiding light LOL)! Im glad it's working for you though cuz it honestly brings me great pleasure to see people reaching their goals!
So I just wanted to stop in here quick and see how you're doing (which is GREAT I see). I won't be on the computer today cuz I have tons of running around to do before I take over the salon in a couple days so... keep up the great work and let me know if you need anything.
BTW- I'm sportin' the size 5's today! :D

I might have to consider Paula's diet also. :) What about exercises? Are they working for you? Obviously, they do as you just lost all this weight! I'm thinking of getting Paula's book. :)
NTL- If you really are interested in my diet, here's the link to it: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/showthread.php?t=2241&page=9
Also, as far as "my book" goes, I haven't written it yet (LOL) and I'm actually just taking from a book I used in my PT days so... If you are interested in the workout that will work best for your bodytype, PM me or email me and I will get it to you free of charge. If you just want to buy the book, it's called "Shape Training- The 8-Week Total Body Makeover" by Robert Kennedy and Maggie Greenwood-Robinson. :D

thanks everyone. funny b/c i have only eaten "paula's diet" since tuesday (so this is my third day), but i will attribute all success to my guiding light :) - (thanks for checking in by the way).

NTL- it is so WONDERFUL to fit into that old size again, it is beyond unbeleivable and amazing. In terms of exercises, I am doing some weight lifting that paula recommended and lately, i have been trying to do different cardio (which is hard not belonging to a gym), but have walked, used treadmill (i was house sitting & they had one) and now i am trying for the am work outs to "change it up".. Not sure which (or all) has attributed to me losing again). Whatever it is - THANK GOODNESS!!

All i can say is that persistence is key....and a good supportive forum for when you are so darn frustrated! ;)

Persistence is definitely key.... You pushed through... you could have given up months ago and you didn't. I don't think my diet can get MUCH credit yet cuz it's only been three days but I've steadily been losing weight on it and it's the same format that I used in the past and gave to all my clients so I know it works. Something I think did help you though was changing your workout to fit your bodytype.
Keep it up girl, you are an inspirationt to many! :)

Goodd Mornin' Skyler :D Just doin' some "catch up" on your diary before my day turns upside down. You have done AMAZING! Persistance is definitely key. You are proof :D Hope you have a great friday and keep up all the good work! (Congrats on your loss! Thats awesome!)

Good morning Skyler. Happy Friday to you! Hope you're having a great day and a wonderful weekend ahead of you.

btw, I am trying the tuna on some wheat thins today. Wish me luck!

Happy Friday to all! TGIF!!!! Fridays are my "rest day" so probably just some stretching later.

As for how i feel, i am excited to break that 140 mark, however, i find it hard to believe. I dont want to step on the scale until next Thursday as I know water weight totally screws me up...but i just have to believe it, somehow. I've been trying to think back as to when I weighed 128 (which is my current goal) and it was 1996. WOW. I know I hovered close to where I am right now for a good chunk after that (well, probably around 134) and then creeped up to 144 for a while and then to 158 (YIKES)...which is when the reality set in that i needed a plan and support..anyways, i also wonder if 128 is too low. It doesn't say so when I research my height - it is in the middle of hte "healthy weight" range so I think it is fine. I just think it is shocking that I am 11 lbs away from where I was SO long ago.

Food intake has been good. I've been doing paula's diet for tues/wed/thurs except for dinners, i've had shrimp & veggies one night, salad with tilapia another and veal & broccoli another, so I am not following it exactly to a T. My calorie intake is low though - averaging about 950 - so, i m thinking i should get some of that protein powder to increase to about 1050 (which seems to be my 'losing caloric intake'. I also think I need to re-figure out my RMR since i'm in a different weight range. This all came to me during pilates last night ;).

Q: Do you think if you stink at water all day and slam about 60 oz at night, your body retains it the next day?

I feel bloated and constipated and not sure why....anybody have any clues? I had salad last night and trying to eat ruffage :) but ugh...

Also, paula - do you think it is better to do your diet (which i like, i am not hungry or anything) for 1 or 2 weeks, then change to a different pattern and go back and forth to not put my body in a rut?? Or, b/c of what it is, does it not matter?? I was thinking of possibly every other week but since I am 3 1/2 months from wedding, i dont want to fool with anything that would inhibit my loss that i am looking for any further???? Thanks.

NL- good luck with the tuna ;). keep me posted.

I would keep this "type" of eating plan you're entire life. Of course, once you've reached your goal, we'll want to tweek it a little for maintance. Because you are allowing yourself a cheat day each week, you're body won't go into a rut. Just make sure you're allowing yourself that cheat day and I would suggest it be a complete DAY off from the diet. Enjoy other foods and then get back on it the next day. I actually only follow the diet five days a week and that works well for me. Hope that answered your question. You're going to be an amazing looking bride! Can't wait to see pics! :)
I'll be busy painting the salon all weekend so I doubt I'll be on the boards at all. Hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks Paula! I forgot about the cheat day. That makes sense. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Enjoy painting..you should burn some calories that way!

Skyler.. you're oding great!! :) I'm trying to follow this diet too. Just have to work on the dinners personally. ;)

Tuna was fabulous.. chk out my diary for more details!! ;)

Skyler, you're doing great! Congrats, sounds like you're really on the way to the goal. Just a little more! I think 128 at your hight is completely fine, but you should listen to your body. If it will feel low, you can always gain a bit, but I think you'll be completely fine.

Q: Do you think if you stink at water all day and slam about 60 oz at night, your body retains it the next day?
You might retain more water if you did not have enough for big chunk of the day, but once your body gets regular water again, it will get flushed out, so don't worry about it.

Hope you have a great weekend!

thanks guys. thats pretty much what i was thinking (in terms of #s). we'll see. it is still one lb at a time or one 1/2 of one lb at a time! :)

bizb-thanks for stopping by and for your kind words...i'm going to go check out your journal as well.

have a great weekend!

Hey Skyler! You are working it girl! Congrats on losing the 2lbs this week. You're doing amazing! Keep it up girlfriend! You are running to the finish line!

thanks MJ!!! i hope you are right. that would be awesome to RUN TO THE FINISH LINE. I'm so excited to get to "maintenance phase". whoo!

yesterday was okay other than i went out after work and had some wine. lots of water for me today! however, my calories came in at about 1300 so not soooo bad considering we ate out....we went to this place that had "small plates" and it was crazy - the portions were SO SMALL! HA! glad i am watching my weight or else i'd be mad! it was expensive for what it was. anyways, had some bread & hummus and shared some cheese fondue (YUM), so overall not too too bad as the rest of the beginning of the day, i had 2 boiled eggs, 1 can tuna, crackers, and water.
today will be my official 'cheat day'. i'm thinking of a big salad for lunch somewhere yummy!!!

hope everyone has a good weekend.

That's not bad at all, especially considering what you ate was good for you :p better then indulging on chocolate or something ;)

Hi Skyler :) Hope you are enjoying your weekend :D Keep up the awesome work. BTW I got some of "Paulas" protein powder and LOVE IT :) Kind of reminds me of nestle's quick powder

1300 cals sounds really good for going out!
Hubby and I ordered sushi in last night. It was really good. He is finally enjoying sushi with me (am really surprized he likes it!).
Skyler, you're doing great. The restaurant you went to sounds like a savior for dieters like us. I have really hard time restraining myself when eating out, esp. with all the big portions!

OH, i LOVE SUSHI!!! NTL - we've talked about that. YUM!!!!! other than the price of the 'small plates', yes, the restaurant was good for dieters like us in terms of portion control.

i do have a sin to report from this weekend. :( Truthfully, i dont feel THAT bad about it but bad enough that i am sharing with yall. This is the first year in 11 yrs that I have not been in mardi gras in new orleans (which is this weekend). i lived there for a while and moved about 2 years ago. Anyways, b/c of Katrina and the mess, we decided to not go this year (smart decision) but a great friend of mine (she doesn't know i am watching my calories), sent us a care package and inside was a KING CAKE. not sure if you know what it is but it is part of mardi gras tradition and they are only sold in new orleans (and surrounding areas). anyways, it is a GIANT donut with sugar on top. you can't NOT like it. i just had to have some. i didn't over do it but i did have a decent size piece (& it was delicious), and that's that. oy. the rest of it, we gave the mail man and the local market clerk that we go to often!! i needed it out of the house! so, that was my downfall this weekend. the bright side is that if i was in new orleans, i would have probably had a piece of king cake anyways, PLUS way too much beer/alcohol and fried poboys!!! so overall, i guess it is okay, but not what i had in mind.

also, this week is going to be tough. my mother in law to be is coming in town on wednesday and staying with us until sunday. saturday my mom is throwing a shower for me, so we will be going out to eat on wednesday, friday, saturday...which with all parents generally includes wine. i guess the plan will be to GET IN THE EXERCISE, DRINK DOUBLY AMOUNT OF WATER & HOPE FOR A STABLE WEEK, not necessarily any loss, but please no gain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any suggestions to help get through this week successfully is most appreciated. thanks guys.

WOW! oh skyler I havent been here in a while..and did I miss a lot!! You are TEN POUNDS from GOAL!!! Ho-ree Mo-ree!!! I am SO happy for you~:D:D

Yeah, for me, getting under 140 soon, is a super big achievement as well! Im SO excited and you motivate me to keep plugging along after my own goals.

Yipeeee!!!!!:p

Skyler, sounds like you have a tough week coming up. I would say load up on veggies Monday through Wednesday, and try to eat light those days. Another thing I realized is it is better to stay away from the buffet, because with any portion meal in the restaurant you can take leftovers home, but with buffets it is natural to want to eat more, b/c you can't take leftovers home. Plus, because often you pick your food when you're hungry, you tend to pick more and make worse choices. I don't know about you, but that's what I noticed about myself eating out.

I think you will do fine eating out, judging by your past eating out experiences you did great!

BTW, I think it is AWESOME that your friend sent you KING CAKE, it was a way of bringing a part of Mardi Gras to you! I've been to New Orleans a few times, once on a New Years, but not on Mardi Gras. From what I've heard and seen, its a lot of fun. Hopefully you'll be able to go next year! My husband and I also wanted to go, but did not make any plans because of Katrina.
